In the US, there are limits placed on the liability from a credit card or a debit card. While the rule are quite technical, they mostly boil down to:
Credit Cards: $50 liability just about no matter what.
Debit Cards: max $500 liability, normally less) unless you don't contact the bank within 60 days after receiving the statement on which the first unauthorized charge lies.
Therefore, if you are an idiot who NEVER checks his statement or have no money, then yes, you can have your account emptied out. But the rest of us do have some protection.
Only in Japan would you have some silly scale out of 40. What is wrong with the everyday scale of 10 or 100? Do we really need another one with units of 2.5?
Yes, that is exactly what it sounds like to me. But adding these, constant Xbox live feature, I believe that they are hoping to catch more and more modded Xbox and ban them on live. It will be must easier for them to catch people with games that automatically connect to live then when you have to actively select "connect to LIVE."
it just sounds like they are hoping modded Xbox uses will forget that they have the box networked up when thy boot the game and get banned.
One of the last reasons that a guide would be useful has lost its edge, portability. It used to be that using a computer based faq was a pain because my computer was not right in front of me when I played the game. This is not a problem anymore because of wi-fi and cheap(er) laptops. Now with that combo, I can have it sitting right next to me in the den just like the old paper version.
The slight benefit of even greater mobility than the laptop is lost once you factor in the $9.95 (or more) price tag.
I believe that this has been thought of before. The problem is that there is too much liability in doing this because of the possibility of emergency calls. (i.e. the doctor doesn't know to get back to the hospital)
This has already been done on blackjack. Online casinos check a player against so-called "perfect play." At some point they say they can tell if a person is playing with the assistance of a computer and will ban the account.
I have always wondered about this. Does playing with a moron at the table really affect your game? The only way I see that a bad play could truly affect your game is were a player hits where he should not, thereby taking the card that the dealer would have had. Even if that was the "bust card" that the table was looking for, does that really affect the game if he took it? Even if the card count is really in your favor, the probability that the bust card will come on the first card but not the second can't really affect your winnings over the long run since probably just as often the bad player gets the small card and the next card is a bust card. Does anyone have any way to disprove this?
Do you really think that this would work? One of the reasons that a national do not call list works is the expense of moving a telemarketer firm overseas. There is no real expense in moving an e-mail server overseas. Once the system is out of the reach of US law, not much can be done to stop it.
You must not be a Government Employee...
Software Emulation Microsoft and Nintendo could do it if they wanted to.
At least they got to keep the phones.
Actaully, It depends on the type of class action to determine in a class member has the right to withdraw.
IAAL, and you are wrong. You can sue fictional parties and amend your complaint later with the real party names.
For a second, I thought I was reading about Slashdot in the future or about a bad Startrek reference.
I'm old.
I suppose that I am just a metric type of guy.

You named this as one of Xbox's best games?? This has got to be one of the worst games ever. What didn't you like?
Abandoned property only works with physical property. Again, no application here.
Stop selling underpowered hardware with games that can only be marketed to 8 year-olds.
True, but most people will already have a laptop for other purposes, like porn and internet gambling in front of the TV.

Well, we all still have the great bug of all time, Sendmail.
Hmm, this is what I thought of CounterStrike too, until I realized everyone else was using a bot or wallhack.

All of the warez m0nkeys are home from college during the summer.

Zero. How would anyone have a serious injury from this?
