OK you're making some big assumptions here. Animal Crossing does not neccesarily suck. I know alot of people who were obssessed with it. I didn't personally like, but that's just me. I don't know what kind of package deal your friend got, but if you buy animal crossing(just the game) it comes with a memory card. That's because the save files for that game are huge. It tracks a complete assload of stuff. Given that your friend had a 1 assload card it was full. Nintendo also makes larger cards that can hold as many as 5 assloads.
They need the mindshare and advertising power that Sony and Microsoft have, and to a lesser extent, Nintendo.
Why is it everyone wants to slight Nintendo. Some of the best games out right now are on the 'Cube. Metroid Prime, Resident Evil 0, Animal Crossing, and Zelda(coming soon). Everyone I know who owns a Gamecube loves it. Nintendo was at one point synonymous with console gaming. They aren't as popular as they used to be, and Sony is certainly outselling them, but they are holding thier own, they're selling as many units as MS and doing it while making a profit, unlike MS. It is certainly not fair to say they have less clout in the industry than newcomer MS.
Next time just make your point without bashing Nintendo.
No Joke. I used to work with a team of 5 developers. 3 of them played EQ religously(sp?). I had played the game previously but never really got into it. The second hand EverCarck was horrible, it almost made me want to start playing again. But then I remembered how sad and pathetic my coworkers were.
I don't know about younger guys who actually made it into game development, but I know my formative years were spent playing Magic(CCG), Battletech(Minatures), Cyberpunk 2020(RPG), and Vampire(RPG).
There was a quite large group of old-school gamers where I grew up(smalltown, OH). If they were in my city I'm guessing you can find a group just about anywhere. You just gotta hang out at the right comic shops.
If someone hasn't played these games it's not because they're young. I don't know what it is, but not youth.
Oh yeah I'm 22(hopefully that doesn't make me old yet).
Actually the "only president" standard hadn't been around long. We used to have roman gods on our coins as well, not to mention we've had Ben Franklin on our money for quite some time(though not coins)
You're correct, but the previous argument wasn't stupid. The issue is if you want to buy an XBOX and hack it and not play games on it then Microsoft doesn't want you to buy one. They lose money when they sell it to you.
Why call it double pumped? The proper term is DDR. Intel processors *are* Quad-Pumped and IMHO thats a really stupid sounding term. What did they do, get it to run faster by shooting electrons at high pressure?
Yes, companies DO rent videos out, but as I understand they also pay FAR more for their copies that you do if you buy the video new.
True, but only in the case of VHS. They're paying for higher quality tapes that can handle being watched 100's of times without showing wear. Now that DVD is out Blockbuster is paying regular wholesale prices for DVDs.
LucasArts was kind enough to re-release both X-Wing and TiE Fighter with the XvT engine, directX5, 3d accelerated, all that jazz, so it's playable under a pure Win32 environment.
No way. XvT was not nearly as good as the originals. It was pretty, but the control sucked. I can't say what was wrong with it, but it just didn't feel right. X-wing alliance was the first game to recapture that feel in my opinion.
What's really sad is the guys you mentioned were the 'good' spidey villians. From there they just got more cheesy. Remember the tubby guy in the rhino suit?
I started reading spidey because of the maximum carnage serious. The symbiotes were the best thing that could happen to him.
You don't like the animation style of most anime, yet you can watch Escaflowne? I've not seen a style I like any less than Escaflowne's. The character designs are completely unoriginal. The only thing unique about it is the noses, and everyone seems to have the same pointy-ass nose. I suppose the storyline is good, I just can't get over the damn noses.
No no no, damnit. We need to get past these shitty Procedural SQL hacks. T/SQL and PL/SQL are crap, Why do you think Oracle is integrating Java and Microsoft is integrating ActiveX into the database engine? Because trying to do high-level programming in SQL is complete shit. Why would MySQL want to integrate a legacy language like PL/SQL?
I agree we need to get past the procedural hacks, hell we need to get away from procedural programming at the database layer in the firstplace.
Technically version 7.0 is actually 1.0 it was rewritten from the ground up for version 7.0. In any event they skipped alot of numbers on the way to 7.0.
It's like saying they got Windows 2000 wrong 1999 times(sorry make that 2000 times).
You laugh, but a friend of mine works at Best Buy. He had a guy come in and ask him for "one 'o dem BVD players"
"invading countries which don't have the ability to defend themselves"
That's everybody. I suppose we could throw a few wars just to make you feel better though.
Source please?
You forgot 'Money Access Center'.
"Watch as I shoot this rocket up 'is arse. Crikey that pissed 'im off!"

If you notice news.com did put the link in their story.

First Sale doctrine does apply to video rentals.
Hmm. I didn't think about that but now that you mention it.
Yes!

Nope, no Natural Join in MS SQL Server 2k. Wish it were though.
Amen

Yes but look at the Dodge Viper. It looks super-cool(and fast) but has the body has the same drag as a Blazer.
If you watch the animated series you'll know that Dante is often working when he's not supposed to be there. It's apparently a common occurence.

You can do this, but for sanitys sake DON'T. Cursors are the slowest most miserable performing things in MSSQL.
