It may be modded as funny but it is true. I just got back from a week plus vacation and had 150 emails. Small by alot of people standards but still a good number. I ended up having to spend 45 minutes using filters to ignore all the people I don't have any interaction with that manage to send email to everyone that says, "I will be working at home today from X:XX pm to X:XX pm" or "I will be out of the office to Jan 1st" or "Bob got a great Christmas present, Thanks all!" Email has gotten to be one of the tools that has lost most if not all of its production benefits and I quite frankly hate it.
Due to poor planning and budget cuts, Australia has once again encountered snags conquering Antarctica. The australian defense minister was quoted as saying, "With this war on terrorism in Iraq we were evidently unable to plan properly. It also does not help that those americans have been no help at all. I am going to call George Bush and tell that we need that fuel to prevent the spread of terrorism in Antarctica. If the South Pole melts who knows what kind of devastation will be happen!" When questioned the White House responded "Fuck'em, the War of Terrorism is on our show and we will get around to conquering Antarctica when election time rolls around!"
They can replace the Haitians with elves and the cubans with reindeer. The main character will be Santa Claus and he only scores with Mrs. Claus, who happens to wear a bikini.
Merry Christmas indeed! Or was that not the effect these people were looking for?
What the parent was referring too was the fact that the character to is randomly assigned which profession that will be come a Jedi. So it you might have to become a dancer profession to be a Jedi. You start as merchant, you work your way up to master, oops that is not it, you have to lose your skills as a merchant and try the next profession. Instead of any amount of time and skill you have you are stuck trying to "guess" which profession will let you become a Jedi and you basically have to start over if you pick the wrong profession. Very discouraging.
More likely, the robots will own of all us. You see they will be the only one's working, ie:the only ones getting a salary. Sooner or later they will have all the money and we will have to sell ourselves into slavery for a "white chocolate mocha"... mmmmm mocha, OK where do I sign? >:)
Do you know what the market is going to do at any given month, how about any given week? Day? Hour? Minute? The market is set up under the principle that transactions are executed immediately and without prejudice. If the stock price goes down $2, who is to say that is wrong? You? Stock prices can go down drastically in a few hours, does anybody sit there deciding that they know the reason why it went down? Hell no, someone puts in a order to buy ABC at 40, and that is it. If the someone sells at 40 the transaction is completed. No moralizing.
The point is, the stock market is setup to not worry about the specific reasons why something occurs, it is only to do transactions between buyer and seller. If the software fucks up, well the company who was using the software is responsible and can get sued for it.
Saying that the buyer beware is just an excuse for unreliable software. You use the software you are responsible, in much the same way if you drive a car and you hit a person you are responsible. Does not matter if it was intentional or accidental.
Now we will get virus's that will imitate commercials and everywhere you go there will cell phones saying, "Can you hear me now?" Of course the consumer will not have the know-how to remove a virus and their cell phone is to useful to drop in the trash can.
One of the things I have always liked about PC games is their ability for players to expand the game. Take a look at Counter-Strike. Noone would have been able to do that with a Console based game. Enjoy D&D, play one of many player made modules that are available online, SP or MP. There are tons of games like that. I think many game makers do themselves a diservice when they don't allow players to create their own missions, or characters, anything to make the game different or fun. If NWN were to just sell improvements to the game engine and keep it compatible with current modules I would pay for it.
You cannot do the same thing with a console, you play through the adventure and that is it. You spent your 50 bucks and got 20 hours of game play, your done. Maybe you can play the whole thing over with *SHOCK* another character! How is that for flexibility from a console!
Consoles are easy to setup and get going, but they lack that ability for people to truly attach themselves to it and expand upon it.
All I can say is thank god! Now we will have liberated hardware able to do its own thing. Write when it wants to write, read when it wants to read and just in general do whatever it likes, regardless of what it was supposed to do.
Your problem is thinking that the five people are all workers. You see you peak performance is assured when you have 1 employee and 4 managers. That way you can be assured that they will always be catching your mistakes.
Also it is best if you hire the workers mother, and as many other close female associations too. They are always looking to improve someone else.
You hear alot about creating efficiency. What Wal-
Mart is not efficiency, it is a slow starvation. In much the same way a person who keeps getting thinner and thinner because they don't get enough to eat. Eventually they do, but every says its OK because the Market says so. BS! Cheaper prices to strangle the economy so that you can make a buck is not making a strong economy, it is makes the US a weaker one. All of its investments are moved from the US and moved to China.
It does not help anyone to move ALL of those jobs over to China, someone here has still got to work and earn some cash too.
We've all gotten frustrated from getting spam. Most of us have gotten frustrated enough to issue threats against the spammer. But really, how many of us actually do that?
The story was at best a sumation of what had occured. Can you even imply that you knew EXACTLY what he went through? No, because you were not there nor where you charged with a crime or part of it. Simply by blowing off any possibility that he his behavior was not pushed to the limits is being judgemental without the facts. Of course this is/. why read the article or think for yourself when you have someone willing to do it for you.
While what he did was wrong, what the company was doing was not better or justified. Behavior which pushes a person to unreasonable behavior is a crime per se. Imagine someone who was always picking fights with people because your the son of a whore who was born with a small penis. Do that everyday you are likely to get someone who is going to attack you. In some cases it is justified. You cannot always say what you want without expecting some retaliation on the part of someone else.
Since this person's behavior was triggered by an offending event, there is cause. How valid that cause is for a judge to decide. In addition you have to take into account how intently did this person intend to follow through on their attempt. Since he did not own any guns, plan to own a gun or actively was searching the internet looking for Antrax spores it is not likely that he would be considered a serious threat to society. Judges can be reasonable, procesutors in the US can be very unreasonable in their actions to persue someone, just to make a case.
Don't take the charges put up as the fact that he will be found guilty.
I also ask that email be sent to root@127.0.0.1 that I ensure that they know that their email service is working. I wouldn't want it to be any other way.

If they make a decision you don't like, you ignore it.
I hate it when people quote George Bush!

Now I know coders aren't rocket scientists, but less advanced than project managers?
Just goes to show that MS Project is more challenging to a manager than an IDE is to a programmer.

Well they cannot afford to use "Ones" and "Zeros" right now, their budget is a little short paying for the trial and all.
Well I have a wristwatch for your family! It runs twice as slow, just tell them that they are getting twice as much done as they were before.
Don't tell them what I just told you! :)
Homer:"Having kids is great, you can teach them to hate the things you hate, and they practically raise themselves what with the internet and all."
I think that explains why we need computers and not teachers! Any questions? Look it up on that internet thing and get back to me...
I was preparing to refute this short-term memory thing but I forgot what my point was...
Now we will get virus's that will imitate commercials and everywhere you go there will cell phones saying, "Can you hear me now?" Of course the consumer will not have the know-how to remove a virus and their cell phone is to useful to drop in the trash can.
This also brings up...
"Can you hear me now? GOOD! *CLICK*
The 12-year-old girl? The 15-year-old girl? Or the 66-year-old Grandma with a Mac?"
I tell ya, CowboyNeal, CmdrTaco and JohnKatz will do anything for attention now a days!

Usually programmers cannot understand management anyways so the language barrier would not be a problem.

Much like Windows.
Fortunatly its going to be very funny when your office is full of incompetant people socializing with each other and nobody's doing the job
You have been to my office, haven't you?

It has two little nobs to move the cursor around and you have to shake it to reboot it.
