Surely you mean switch back to unix? Seems the world has forgotten xenix. Although having heard from people old enough to have used it this is a good thing. Look at the SCO case if you want to learn more about the history of xenix.
So I can advertise unlimited gass for dollar just as long as you limit youreselve to a gallon. I can advertise all you can eat just as long as you only take a biscuit.
Not the way the real world works. In the real world all other companies must abide by thruth in advertising rules. They aren't very hard to follow. Just put in small letters the actual limit.
Oh yeah big companies getting hurt by the law. I am crying over here. I really am. Tell me one thing and one thing only. Why does the gas company, the elec company, the water company and the phone company charge me for what I use but ISP's still go blank when you ask them what 1gb down costs?
No patches. Yup indeed. If a game has a bug on a console then you are screwed. So bugs don't happen right? Well Knights of the Republic had a very long list of bugs on the X-box. They just left them? Or do they patch them via x-boxlive? I personally walked into the bug on the game "broken sword" on the gameboy. NO FUCKING FIX and NO MONEY BACK. If a pc company tried that they would be lynched. Nintendo. Oh well they are so cute.
Further more certain games come with enhancement patches on the tv. They fix game inbalances that only come to light after thousands of people have played it. Or add new features like maps, skins or levels. Or in the case of my favorite racer, grand prix legends, new drivers to support hardware that came out after the launch of the game.
But sure consoles are better and cheaper. Cheaper eh? Well lets discuss that one. Wich console did you type this post one? So you own both a console, a tv and a pc with monitor? Perhaps the same price in total as my pc geared to playing the latest games? (No I don't have tv now you mention it)
Also check in the shops for the prices of console and pc games. Over here in the netherlands pc games retail between 40 and 50 euro. Console between 60 and 70 euro. Mmm, be a bit hardcore in you playing and it adds up. Also pc games drop far sooner in price then console games.
Sure the gamecube is now dirt cheap and yes vidcards are very expensive. But if you truly calculate the cost I think pc can be a far greater deal. At least if you play the kind of games that get user modifications.
Looks like standard PDA type hardware except for the resolution out. But then of course it doesn't have a display of its own.
BTW looking at the larger pics. Doesn't the design seem awfully open? I can see inside through several large holes. In my pocket that would not survive long. And yes my pocket is large enough to fit it though the corners may be a bit much.
I am old enough to remember when music in games was made with the midi part of your soundcard. It meant music was small, took little to no cpu time to play, didn't create crashes (music would keep playing AFTER a crash) and could easily be altered. The idea was in some games like x-wing that the music would change according to what was happening.
For some reason midi died. I blame consoles but I blame them for anything. More likely just to many cheapo soundcards came out that did not properly support midi. Instead some games. Tombraider comes to mind played music from the cd. Not file from the CD. Actual cd music. In fact speech was played from the cd as well. This more then anything else is my reason for hating consoles. Anyone who played it on a pc would probably agree.
Anyway. Nowadays music is most often an MP3 or even more recent an OGG or somthing like that. And I noticed something. Almost always switching the music off will improve not only speed but stability as well. The speed issue has dropped a bit since Command & Conquer days but the stability still seems to be there for me. Over several new pc's I always noticed that if a game reguarly freezes switching the music off will help.
That and the fact that most music is crap and even more crappily mixed. Soft music during heavy combat then swelling up as people start to talk.
So leave the music out eh? Or least keep it to the movies. I can play my own cd's thank you very much. My tastes are probably different anyway. Worst example of that was playing Kotor and finding a techno beat in some places. Ewh.
Well yes connecting Spain and Morroco together might not be very efficient. However that is not what could happen. What could happen is they connect europe and africa. I think you find that this ads up to a slighly larger possible customer group. Of course the europe part is easy. They already got an interconnected rail system. The african part is a bit harder as most of the countries in that region activaly fight wars with each other.
In an ideal world this could connect the two major continents with each other allowing travel across the euro-asian and african continent. Air travel is not working out that well. The airlines are near bankrupt and the airports are full with already several accidents caused by to many aircraft being in to small a space. Plus train travel is a hell of a lot more comfortable then airtravel.
Of course this is not an ideal world so I think that it will not happen. After all this is just a study. No actual building is going on yet.
Well not as much a problem as you might think. Why? Land space. You see england is hightly developed meaning that putting a new train track anywhere is difficult. Spain and Morocca are far less build up. Adding an extra track is childsplay. Part of the reason the french had so much succes with the TGV. That track extended into The Netherlands is going very slow. NOBODY wants the thing going through their backgarden.
So even if the track gauge is a problem, wich I doubt since train already run accross the continent, it would be very simple to put an extra track beside the existing one in those countries. Also wide and narrow load is not a problem. Just use only the narrow trains on that section. Netherlands had a problem with that as well. In certain corners new trains passing each other would hit each other. Solution? Until the track were adjusted, don't run those trains on that section.
No what I am wonder about, africa and europe are two different continents right? Don't those things move apart or collide? Or ist that just between america and europe?
Okay so they want you to watch 3 minutes of advertising for every hour of use. With a furter minimum of 30 hours per month. You also sign up for a 3 year period. So at minimum you will have to watch:
3 minutes * 30 hours * 12 months * 3 years = 3240 minutes wich is 2 and a quarter days worth of ads. Mmm, so the PC itself costs about 411 in vat from the IBM site (according to other people). But of course you OWN that machine. This one comes to about 7 quid per hour of your time. Is your time worth that? I know I get paid more but for many that is better then their hourly wage (no taxes).
So is just over 2 days of your time PLUS cost of internet worth getting a pc? Hardly I think, the killer is in the ISP costs. Unless one of those "free" ISP's is acceptable where you only pay for actual minutes (don't forget this is england not america with its free local calls) then you could pay for the pc simply by the subscription costs.
Why? Well the calculation of 54 hours is the MINIMUM. Only a light computer user will be able to do the 30 hours. And they will not be using up more then a fraction of the bandwidth that even a light ISP subscription pays for. Money in the bank for the ISP. They like light users. People like me who max out their download month after month they would like to do without, or in my personal case charge through the nose.
Of course heavy users get a better deal on the ISP costs but also have to watch far more ads. Further more how is leaving the PC on overnight to finish a download counted? Watching a movie will be hell. In england people are used to the BBC not to american style 5 minutes commercials interrupted by programs.
Games will also be difficult. Forget online gaming, "sorry got to watch an ad please don't frag". Many games don't like to be switched to the background.
Conclusion for who cares, the only people for whom this is a great deal is those who need a computer for a few simple tasks, who don't have the money to buy their own AND who have for some reason free access to an accepted ISP. Students living in a dorm perhaps? Oh wait, no ms office being mentioned as pre-installed.
Silly me. I must have missed the reports of the US cavalary fighting in syria or the US rangers taking the golan heights or US bombers carpet bombing egyptian troops.
America only talked though I am afraid. So to a large extent did the soviet union. Although they did have some of their most advanced aircraft in the region they were flown by soviet pilots. Arabs weren't even allowed near them.
No all the two superpowers did was step in at the end and try to enforce a peace. It worked with egypt. Syria less so.
Oh boy. Sure the germans didn't bomb cities before london. Yeah bombing the heart out of Rotterdam, The Netherlands on 14th of may 1940 was just a fluke. Oopsie didn't mean to.
Jeezus I suppose I shouldn't be suprised finding this kinda post on/. . It is well known that germany used this tactic to force surrender. Either give in or our airforce will whipe you out.
In the east japan did the same thing. The bombing of shanghia in I believe 1937 was the delibarate bombing of a purely civilian target to force surrender or fact destruction.
Bombing of cities was done as soon as it was possible. Even WW1 saw it just on a very small scale. The only exception was that the germans did indeed not bomb London city itself on purpose. They still hoped that england could be convinced to surrender peacefully. Hitler knew that bombing london would mean total war with england as he did not have the capacity to put ground forces in.
Have you missed the bit about the US needing china to make the budget meet? So who needs who more? Chinese leaders don't need to worry about a election. I think you sadly overestimate the americans.
This little situation has america neatly by the balls. America needs both china and taiwan. How much? Well we will see. War seems unlikely but then people have said that before, just minutes infact before the airraid sirens.
I think America is however going to have to think really hard about making itself less dependent on other regions. Be they arab oil or asian tech.
You see more then just the economics have changed. America is currently already in two wars. Previous allies are getting more and more frustaded with the US meaning they could face a third conflict ALL alone.
Is the american public ready to send its soldiers to yet another frontline and see bodybags returning on a daily basis? Oh and don't underestimate the chinese military complety. Read up on the falkland war and how a country with less then a dozen anti-ship missles fared against the british navy. China is no iraq. Iraq got old reject soviet equipment. Hell some of their tanks where surplus from WWII and america wasted 1 million dollar missles on destroying them.
If you think the US is that advanced ask youreselve just one question. Wich nations can currently put a man in space. See? I think a conflict between china and america may yield just as suprising a result. HINT: russia and china. America is grounded.
Oh and the note about China not having the capabilities for such a large scale invasion, read up on german thinking BEFORE d-day.
It seems from the article that it is the US more then China who needs the money. Apperantly the budget can only be fixed because china and taiwan keep buying goverment bonds.
That in fact is the reason that this year is believed to be worse then others. America can't just jump in and swear to protect Taiwan, it needs china. Not the other way around.
Sure keeping an open mind is a good and noble thing but I am a suspicious bugger and fail to see the WOW factor.
So now I can send you a small file that will allow you to get an album or movie after you pay for it. Exactly how is this different from me linking you to say amazon with my referer number?
Sure if you can get a lot of people to take note of your recommendations you could make some money perhaps but this type of stuff has existed for years.
This is an injunction anyway. NOT a final verdict. MS tried the same in the US and failed. Sweden ruled differently. So now in sweden until the final verdict lindows may not to blatantly use the name lindows.
Most shocking thing about this story is the crap reporting.
Ehm you do know that Battlestar Galicta started as a movie right? That movie showed the beginning of the journey. It started with a conference between cylons and humans but wich was really a trap. The Galictica is the only one to survive and they set off to first escape the cylons and second to find earth.
I think the point is here that the helmet comes seperate from the bike. No installs needed on the bike. Else why use gps to get the speed. Surely the bike knows.
If you read the article then you can read the quote about Grandtheft Auto having the element of humor. Bad Taste and Braindead had this too. In buckets. It makes the buckets of guts acceptable. It ain't real.
Censorship like this takes great store in the context in wich something happens. Personally I think from the reviews that Manhunter is indeed crossing the line. In most other kill games you kill to achieve a goal, not kill for the killing itself.
Braindead has lots of killing of zombies but for the greater goal of protecting himself and his girlfriend. Manhunter has you killing to make a nice movie. A bit different don't you think?

You would build your house on lawyers? Talk about a shifty(ng) foundation. Of course politicians would be used for towers. Free rotating action for the restaurant on top. SCO foundations would however collapse overnight whenever a 800 pound blue gorrilla sits on it.
hehe, but the real problem would be training the squirrel to wake the other squirrels. Maybe a robotic squirrel can be there. You would need really small face huggers however. And of course a queen the size of a housecat isn't all that scary.
I am sorry but do you have any idea? Not just an idea about the topic just any idea at all?
The sensation of balance has absolutly nothing to do with g-forces. They often feel related because it is usually movement that cause g-forces to be experienced other then the one pulling us down. But nothing done with a piece of wire by your ear or even shoved into your brain could make you experience g-forces. All it could do is make you think you are upside down. Or at worst feel a little bit sick if it chances to often or you are susceptible to car sickness.
Red out is cause by the blood being forced into the head usually by pulling negative g's. Such as when you point the nose of an aircraft violently down or go over a hill in a rollercoaster. Fighter pilots never do this as a Red out is very dangerous. Black out is the reverse and less harmfull provided you regain consciousness before the plane reaches the ground.
Sorry about the trollish tone I am catching up on/. stories and I have reached my stupidity tresshold.
