i don't know, most people want a pc to browse the net and send email, can i get a mac that does that for $500-$750? macs are not price-competitive on the low end. that probably creates the image that they're just too expensive...
gnome is getting a unified GUI installer. i think the problem is more along the lines of too much software. maybe put the recommended (and polished) ones seperated.
quickies: 1)so is SuSE or Mandrake. Maybe Fedora and RedHat too. 2)mom and dad want email,web... things which have an interface that hasn't changed much. you may question the selection, but i really like them. maybe it's just the Free thing... 3)true. but it's not rocket science to get there. Lindows and Xandros seem to get it right, though i'm too cheap to try:D
well, just put it in pictures like every site that requires registration (yeah, you're screwed with the CLI anyway) not rocket science... and next? P2P of logins? scripts to fill bugus stuff? that's even worse for them, it puts waste in the database.
happened to me too... weirdly, the graphics card would freeze after a while, mainly while gaming. so i downgraded the drivers (which i had recently upgraded, so i thought, i might be that), no, didn't work. i ended up having the default XP drivers, which... suck for performance, but work. Didn't feel the need to game much for a while, but since i tried a few new games (on a new pc), i'm hooked again! damn!
maybe my humour has no taste, but that was the funniest thing i read in quite a while...
kudos.
wow, i really like to read what you write!
it could also mean that people who do what they like don't care about the money, just about being happy.
i admire your patience, that was so rediculous i stopped reading after a few paragraphs.
that guy needs a shrink, urgently!
since nobody said it, beware of when providers upgrade protocols for "security" reasons. you might end up with a few days without it.

sadly, it happens. as reported a lot of times, it's a slashcode error.
can i swap the points for a cookie?
i'm guessing the answer to number 5 is CD/DVD/ebook/aac...
as much as i love gnu/linux, no way. unless novell injects a lot of money in making it happen with suse, but it's not their market. mandrake might...

The Maya trial puts some stuff in the generated images, so it's useless for game mods.
As far as i know... I just play them.
Sadly, we "hate you", but our goverments are following the american way. Mainly in Europe, i think (and hope).
Just thinking about what happened last month with the software patents...
Either Democracy changes, or it WILL colapse...
I wish... along with the DMCA, this assures virtual dark ages for at least a century.
Our only hope lies with third world coutries, oddly enough...
err, i'm not even in the us, did you look at the domain?
and i don't like drm, and thus spread information to whoever wants it.
