    One of the reasons I love tabbed browsing:

    If the New York Times wants me e-mail to register, for example, I open their "Contact Us" page in a tab, I see they have an e-mail address executive-editor@nytimes.com and I use that. Let them spam themselves :) I do this with any site that wants my e-mail.

    Now go and keep your 3rd party hardware firewall + 3rd party software firewall (on EVERY box, of course) up and running.

    HARDWARE:

    - Cheap Linksys box: Ugg but better than nothing.
    - Cheap Netgear box: Better.
    - Expensive Nethear box: Very nice IMO, around $300 USD with 802.11g too.
    - *BSD Box you build yourself: Awesome, but too geeky, if you have life+job and want somehting to plug in and forget, buy a firewall appliance.
    - Very Expensive Cisco/Bay Networks: The one you stole from the NOC on your last job as any good BOFH would do: Best.

    SOFTWARE

    -Free Zone Alarm: Ugg but better than nothing.
    -Sygate Personal Firewall Pro: VERY VERY nice IMO around $50
    - *BSD/*nix s/w: Aso very geeky, better know your shit or else. Stick with vendor stuff to mostly install and forget.

    BRILLIANT! Seriously! I'm not being sarcastic... brilliant idea. I'm on the road a LOT being self employed, so I can pump 5 or 10 gal at a time, don't need to top it off 'cause I'm at stations a lot. Can't wait to get my extra 1-10% :)

    I know two people that saw the amazing usability and ease-of-use of iTunes, asked me what the "good thing was that is different about iTunes" and over lunch I explained that there is a thing called a GUI and a science about "Usability". Things clicked. They went to the apple store on their own and two Powerbooks were sold. Their dell boxes are on ebay.

    Just get a cheap palm ($149 USD gets you a color screen now-a-days!) and use the todo list in it. Hotsync to backup or use the Palm Desktop also, with a UI somewhat similar to the palm. Super simple and super powerfull at the same time.
