    I haven't really looked into how this works or anything like that, but it seems that Opera shows pages really, really quickly after you press the back or forward buttons. I'd like to see that in FF.

    yeah...this is kinda lame.
    Sounds like people are trying to find as much fault in Microsoft as possible. It looks like most of these aren't even problems but are something that Microsoft bashers can use to fuel their fires. As I'm sure many posts have already pointed out by the time I post this, a lot of these problems are just because of closed ports.

    Same here. I don't think I've actually had my XP box crash ever. Once it hung for like 10 minutes but I walked away and on return it had finally straightend itself out.

    Everything I've heard on this is that he did actually say it but it was taken out of context. Apparently, if you were in the conversation it made perfect sense. Something like 640 k ought to ben enough for this thing we are working on or it is enough for what you are showing me right now. That sorta thing...

    Oh - one thing...how are you planning to produce your hydrogen? Can't mine it - can't make a well to find it - gotta generate it by reforming another hydrocarbon (read: fuel) or by hydrolysis of water (read: takes fuel).

    But the electricity needed for the production of hydrogen could be generated by clean sources such as wind or hydro power. It could even be produced by somewhat clean sources like nuclear power.

    Wired has ranked MIT as being the best school for internet rights. In fact, the Wired article said that MIT will give you root access if you ask for it. I don't think that MIT will have any problem with this.

    Some older people do not understand spam. I found my boss replying with individual, very professional messages to the spammers. His assistant, who is not as old as my boss, caught on and then went to me for help about it. She knew what spam was, but did not know how to deal with it.

    Why not use the windows catalog part of windows update for patches then? You can download the actual patch files and redistribute them on your network as you like.

    I always thought that the Department of Home Security was a temporary thing. I guess this is a wake up call for me. I always thought that Department of Home Security would just, go away.

    I rememeber a friend telling me how he watched what must have been this video in school.
    5 years ago he was in an introductory computer course and he had to watch it. I remember the day he was complaining about it. He paraphrased some of the rap like "Don't copy that floppy its against the law!"
    At the time I almost couldn't believe a video like that existed--now there is proof, wow!

    Right, but that is the fault of the user not the software. Good software will have been prepared for these users but the programmers/designers cannot anticipate everything.

    You are right about the SSHing. That is actually how I access my linux machine 99% of the time. So I guess I am not really using it as a desktop machine at all.

    I have been a windows user for a long time and now am switching to Linux. Everyday I become more and more attracted to Linux.

    At the same time my attraction for Linux grows, I find myself more and more repulsed by windows. The repulsion, interestingly, makes me want to use Apple computers more too.

    Perhaps Linux will just show people there are other options than windows and as a result make Apple's popularity rise?

    Maybe Linux will help increase Apple's market share?
    Linux, HUH! What is it good for? Absolutely Everything!
