When Tinyurl was popular there was at least the option to enable a cookie to be sent to tinyurl to get a preview of the link before going on to the real link. These days I just avoid all of these links.
I don't think that is true, the vast majority of the benefits that come with marriage (including those you listed) can be found by pursuing a Civil Union in California. There is really only the concern that the lack of the title "marriage" is socially demeaning which, as I understand it, was the main argument by the courts in their majority ruling that led to the creation of Prop 8.
Remember if intelligent design is correct then it can be explained, demonstrated and then analysed further.
Actually I don't think this is the case. We don't want ID taught in the classroom because it is not science, it can not be. As far as I can imagine, God is not testable by science, so no hypothesis will ever be added to science which supports God's existence. Thus science will not lead us to support the existence of God, even if He does exist.
This is why the ID-proponent spends so much time poking at those areas where weakness is seen in evolution. If a scientific hypothesis can not be submitted supporting his belief, then the next best thing is to attack that which threatens the belief. Ironically these attacks only strengthen evolution as answers are sought out to explain those weaknesses.
(Disclaimer: I do believe in God and that He is our creator. I leave a place for evolution, but am not overly concerned by it.)
FTA: The authors collected sweat, urine, blood, saliva, ECG, respiration, and self-report measures in 20 subjects (n=11 males and n=9 females) before, during, and immediately following their first-time tandem skydive,...
I can only imagine the joy of trying to pee into a cup while tandem skydiving...
Someone actually managed to open that pdf and quotes from it here.
An official blog on the Wall Street Journal website talks about the forthcoming article.
And the New Yorker has an abstract up for the article which is apparently set to publish on the 21st.
Since none of these offer the full story, only proof that such a story does exist (or will), it is hard to say how much FUD is in the Raw Story article.
There is much to be scared of here, but I think the scariest bit was when I saw, "Supporters of Ray, however, see his circle-based philosophy as a natural precursor to the Time Cube."
Well they actually advertise on good radio stations? Any chance they can stop the Clear Channel monster!
They might become the Clear Channel monster, FTA:
Google's move into radio comes at a time when Clear Channel, the biggest radio station operator, is weighing a possible sale of the company.
Clear Channel, which controls an estimated 20 percent of local radio industry revenues, declined to comment on recent reports that Google could take a stake in the radio company, perhaps as part of a buyout led by private equity firms.
Alice has a transcript of the keynote. Missing a couple of phrases and names, but otherwise appears complete if you want to read what Iwata actually said.
I thought I found the link on Slashdot, but perhaps not. A Nintendo rep recently explained a way to save your compositions to your PC (bit of a hack, but seems to work).
From the link: For a very simplistic way of saving your compositions to your computer, get a male-male 1/8" audio cable ($3-$4 at your local electronics store). Plug one end into the DS headphone jack and the other into your PC's mic input. Then use a program such as Sound Recorder to capture the audio. Or research sound capture on the Intrynet using a search engine.
Alice transcribed Iwata's keynote here where he talks about the vision of creating the controller and intended direction for it. If you prefer a bulleted version(aka they couldn't keep up;)), IGN has that here
Gamespot's take on the demos IGN's take on the demos with decent commentary about the controller as a whole
IGN has the teaser video that was shown here
FTA: "...the company decided to form the division so that it could concentrate all of the resources necessary in developing "The Sims'' as a property, which could be licensed for things such as toys or movies."
I can sort of (barely) see toys, but a movie?!? Seems like the fast track to another game-to-movie flop.
last time I checked, the plural of "octopus" was "octopi", right?
That's the first thing I thought when I saw that. Surprised to see it in a National Geographic article too. So I checked and it turns out both work....
I'm always seeing random people join open custom games. Are you sure there's no way to find them?
These random people are random friends of people playing in your 'open' custom game. If you don't want random people joining, you can set a custom game to 'invite only'.
So the advice early on to have people to play with: whenever you play with someone you wouldn't mind playing with again, send a friend request. You want a massive friend's list, I'd bet most people don't even know/remember where they found half the people on their friend list. They're just people to invite or let join your party.
Why did the interviewer allow it to degenerate into a political discussion?
Actually, based on the short blurb after the 'interview' ("Each week, the base team of Telka, Lila, Staci and Nicole hold The Devil You Say chats in IRC. We often have guests, such as Sarah and Trisha."), it would appear that this is more of an informal chat about women's issues in gaming than a structured interview that we should 'trust'.
Regardless, the 'interviewer' didn't just allow it to happen, it was one of the hosting women that made the first comment.

Should also include in that list:
Alternate History (Turtledove)
Near Future/Speculative Fiction (Rainbows End, Little Brother, etc)

I would guess it is to denote the first to come out of the Large Hadron Collider.
