This argument is either sophistry or stupidity. Perl and python are both interpreted HLLs (although both can also be compiled), so your "466 bytes" of source code is no more intrinsically meaningful a measure than the number of lines in either program: the relationship between bytes of source code and bytes of machine language in this case isn't even in the remote vicinity of 1:1, nor do I know of any simple means to compare the efficiency of perl and python in terms of size of bytecode to size of source code -- or for that matter the runtime overhead incurred by either interpreter.
Challenge the statement's legitimacy all you like, but how does Taylor's claim that Microsoft isn't anti-open source qualify as a "FUD exercise"? I fail to see how it serves to generate or propogate fear, uncertainty or doubt regarding competitors' products -- the practice which the acronym FUD properly refers to.
So name your variables accordingly, using mnemonic prefixes to denote type. Admittedly, this is of limited usefulness in unambiguously communicating variable type designations to a third party reading your code, but if you're consistent in your practice, it should be fairly obvious what you're about.
Force feedback sensors in the wrists aren't cheeting (sic) at all. I'd like to see you negotiate the task of handing someone an object or shaking hands without the ability to distinguish forces acting upon your wrist...
Moreover, if you really want a CD/DVD of the game, Steam will back up all game files for you and even automatically pre-chunk them to fit the storage media of your choice. Just right-click on the game title in the 'Play games' list, select 'Backup game files', check the game(s) you want backed up from the list of installed games, specify a backup destination and select a media type (for multi-CD spanning), and Steam will create a self-extracting compressed backup. Voila! Your very own installation CDs.
That's cute. Of course, that's not what he's doing at all: he's clearly judging the design of the cover on its artistic merits, not judging the contents of the book by said cover. This is entirely self-consistent with his earlier admonishment, so the humor of your question falls a little flat.
Really, if you're going to be (even humorously) pedantic, you might take more care to be correct.
MP3 is piracy, piracy is wrong. If you pirate music, you are a criminal and belong behind bars.
Now, see, that's what I love about Slashdot: the finely nuanced and rational discourse. It's good to know that we provide a forum for debate in which Tucker Carlson would feel right at home.
"Although Stewart leans left, he attacked political shows and begged them: 'Stop, stop, stop, stop hurting America.'"...What the hell place does "Although Stewart leans left" have in this sentence?
...What makes you think "the whole show is pretty much fake"? The stories are unarguably real, although the journalism is often comedic -- and even that... Well.
I'd call most mainstream network news journalism "fake" before I'd accuse the Daily Show of the same.
Bullshit.
An industry association of record labels doesn't constitute 'authority' under any accepted colloqial or legal definition of the word. It's an interest group, nothing more.

This isn't "Interesting", it's a troll, in a long series of trolls. Mods, get a clue.
...modded this 'informative'?

"In Soviet Russia, Korean old people are for YOU!"
God, I feel dirty, now.
"LOL! Someone, please mod this up :-D"

Why on earth is this crap modded 'Insightful'? It's at best no more on topic than the post to which it responds.
No.
Right. That's why Half Life 2 isn't being released tomorrow.

59,054,087 of them, to be exact.
From the CBS.com report:
"Several names have emerged as possible successors to Ashcroft. The biggest is Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York."
Oh, that's a good idea. Let's let Giuliani do for America what he did for New York City: turn it into a police state in the name of reducing crime.
America's homeless^H^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hterrorists be warned -- you will be shown no mercy.
Fuck. I miss Ashcroft already.
So dated that the root SSL certificates have been allowed to expire, rendering it impossible to access secure sites. Nobody should be using this.
...And another for dimwits who don't understand the use of the word 'sarcasm'.
Inigo Montoya: You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Who modded this 'insightful'? I'm pretty sure the author intended it to be funny.
...God, I hope it was intended to be funny.
...Yet another ocurrence of the mutant "clue immunity" gene in the wild.
*snort* Mod parent up "Funny".
They have laws, you know... That's what the camera censors are for, presumably.
