but if i was going to quit my job... and start a new company in the same business.... I woudln't use my old companies laptop for planning my new venture. When i look for new jobs, I don't search monster from my work computer... i go home and weep like a woman... consider killing myself and then decide to look for a new job instead =)
had this guy bought a laptop (which he is likely going to need for his new company anyway) and used it for dealings w/ his new venture... his problems would be gone.
that said.... it is some bullshite to claim that deleting the files securely was a violation.
seems like most of the time when i hear about employement problems like this... it is always sales or real estate?? why is that...?
celeron D 325 / intel extreme graphics 2/512MB DDR / 80GB HD/ 15in flat panel/XP home
however one huge and lame problem would be only 3x PCI slots (no agp or PCI express slot for video upgrades)
but if you didn't need a gaming pc.. this thing is like $437.94 shipped (free shipping right now)
when it comes to low end pc's... I usually steer clients towards OEM boxes... because It is impossible for me to make it worth my time to build a budget box for them.
that said if the computer was for my personal use... i would build it rather than get the dell.
I'm as excited as the next guy about new sexy UI for linux.... and certainly apple's rather posh desktop has helped them out..... but how excited should we be when clearly only a small number of video adapters currently work ?

Video card status
Here is the current status as far as we know. We also intend to release driver updates in the yum repository as we get those cards to work. If your card isn't supported, come back later to see if we've added support.
Note that this support status only affects new functionality; everything should work as well as it did before with the compositing manager disabled.
Success and failure updates to this page are welcome.
Known Working
ATI: Radeon 7000 through 9250 (r100 and r200 generations)
Intel: i830 through i945
Occasionally / Possibly working
Intel: i810. Should work but not tested.
3dfx: voodoo3 through voodoo5. Might need NV_texture_rectangle emulation.
Known to not work
ATI: Radeon 9500 through X850 (r300 and r400 generations). Some issues with rectangular textures may be fixed in new DRM CVS, need to verify.
ATI: Rage 128. Looks like driver locking issue.
ATI: Mach64. No DRM support in Fedora, still insecure.
Matrox: MGA G200 to G550. Needs at least a driver update to fix DRI locking. PCI cards probably have other issues as well.
nVidia: Any. No open DRI driver. Closed driver support coming soon though.
3dfx: Voodoo 1 and 2. No DRI driver.
ATI: Radeon 8500 through X850 with the closed fglrx driver. Uses an ancient version of the DRI driver API that can't work with the new driver loader. No ETA on closed driver support.
Anything without a free 3d driver.
Unknown status
via, s3 savage, sis. No intrinsic reason why these wouldn't work, as far as we know, but no one has tested them yet.

I'm sure politicans are all following over themselves trying to spend 50billion dollars on this idea.
I guess I'll stop building my house up on 10ft stilts.... i'm sure this will stop the massive climate change and prevent ocean level increases.
lol.... there are 3 such linksys hotspots I can pick up from my living room....
strangely enough they are all 3 on channel 6 too.... does this linksys hotspot network of which you speak default to channel 6 by any chance?
~~~ Symantec Roadmap Includes Massive "Genesis" Suite ~~~
knowing Symantec when they say "massive" they mean system resource useage.
yeah no thanx....
firewall (sygate pf ) thanx symantec for killing it off... oh well still avail for now (or there is always kerio) plus i have a m0n0wall boxen as a perimeter firewall. (FREE)
antivirus... AVG Free or Avast Free
antispy wall (spywareBlaster / Spybot/adware/ms antispy beta... all free)
whatever to teh rest of it.......
mainly i will not install any symantec crapola on my computers.....
I'm not sure why they needed $88K in computer equipment to copy 40 f'ing movies and 3500mp3's.... i could have got all that ++ for what... $2K or less... I have encoded all my cd's to mp3 and I have way more than 3500 songs on my computer right now....
typical goverment employees, paying crazy high prices to accomplish something anyone off the street could accomplish for a fraction.... even when committing crimes.
i actually thing you may be right...
I wonder if someone could use exploited Windows Machines to form a botnet to search out mac's and then launch a target worm attack on preidentified mac targets? or just f'ing DDoS them?
hmmm...
I use it to backup my mp3's and documents... so far space is fine (about 30GB's or MP3's and 10GB's of documents... I actually need to review the documents at some point...cause I'm sure if fully need that.php hello world test page I made 3yrs ago and stuff).
anyways I am very happy with my escalade I suppose if i had it to do over again it would be nice to have a RAID 5 card but oh well.... not really a big deal.
basically I use m$'s SyncToy to update my backups on the Server once a week.
signing up for adsense...?
just kidding...
it is a good question the device itself looks pretty badass... I want one... but it is pretty weak that they are not complying with the GPL.... and of course if it came to legal actions then they might well get driven under then nobody could have one to Hack in the first place...
Hopefully they will see the error of their ways and post up the source...
but i'm not sure i want to pay as much for a keyboard as i would for a high end video card...
what is it with computers lately... first they want me to pay for 2 video cards (sli, crossfire) then two processor cores.....Now with the $500 keyboards....
I'm going to have to take out a 2nd mortgage when i upgrade my current pc at this rate....
I'm certainly no geologist... but...
is it possible that when the eruptions started some months ago...it made a nice path for more lava to come up thru...pretty easily (with out earthquakes and whatnot) because all it has to do is flow upwards from the lower area via the previously made path?
as the Owner of a ATI 9600proAIW i can say without a doubt if i had it to do over again I would have got a seperate tv card (Hauppauge)... the ATI MMC is one of the most Irritating pieces of software I have ever used... with the exception of the bundles GemStar Guide plus software (that routinely has the mouse cursor disapear making it next to impossible to select a program)
ATI recently dropped it's warranty to 1yr from 3yrs (my AIW died after 13 mos and I had to RMA it) so I would be alittle hessitant to buy another.
additionally ATI decided to make the Audio digital awhile ago in it's mmc suite... problem is that w/ the 9600 cards it makes the audio skip or out of sync.... really bad if you are using it say with a consol cause the audio is really off... I had to reinstall and go back to the older MMC software.
I have spent SOOO much time dicking w/ my AIW card trying to get it to work the way I want...just not worth the headache....
but the warranty switch to 1yr everyone should keep in mind when considering this card.
that is one fucking painfully ugly watch.... I have yet to see on of these "nerd" watches I would actaully wear... as others said... this thing with hours/min..etc as a wall clock could be kewl... but as a watch it is only a good idea...... if you find yourself constantly having to fight off the ladies with a stick and you are looking for sure fire sex repellant.
everytime I see VIA mentioned hordes of people who had problems with KT133 chipsets come out of the woodwork... but to be fair the KT133 chipset was total crap.
it's too bad they didn't realize that and start out with the KT133A to begin with.
I have a Shuttle AK31A v3.1 (KT266A board) i have had this since 2001 running 24/7 as a Domain Controller for my homenetwork. It has given my no grief... it has been 100% stable since day one (actually building this computer w/ the AK31A was the fastest smoothist PC build I have ever had.
The only thing that kinda sucks is the PCI implementation on the KT266A seems to cause rather shabby Raid performance... I have a 3ware Escalade TX7000 and when I previously had it set for raid 0 the write speeds were pretty crappy when Installed in this Via board... Since I am not using this raid card for raid 0 but am using it for Raid 1 now I no longer really care.... as long as the data continues to be uncorrupted.
blah blah blah... anyway I will wait and see, It will be interesting to see if ATI and Nvida decide to allow Crossfire and SLI to work with these boards since the article seems to indicate that crossfire and SLI should be possible if allowed by driver support?
their EULA is GENIUS>.... evil evil genius.
yeah cause your ISP will LOOOOOVE the bandwidth usage on that?
considering how large video files are I can't really see that this would work out so well w/o a new and much larger capacity infastructure.
I would certainly not enjoy waiting for my video to upload at my cable internets 256k upstream bandwidth.
ummm ya ya ya ..... i meant UMD... I just haven't had enough coffee yet ... you got teh idea however right sparky???
PSP $249
UDM movie $20
funny looking video capture device on top of your PSP $100
watching crappy degraded UDM movie on your TV...... PRICELESS.
oh wait... no this seems really f'ing stupid... why dosn't the psp have some sort of tv out anyway?
yeah look at the pics... they hauled fuel up 9 stories ..... BEFORE
I'm not going to buy one more CD this year.
Fuck teh RIAA.
(btw last year RIAA I purchased about 35~ or so CD's)
my disgust with the system and general quality of many of the current releases already had me buying less this year (about 10 or so about)
but not one more this year.
hope you RIAA Pricks are happy.
