2weeks ago trying to figure out why the Fuck windows update wasn't working after repair install...
i managed to fix it with the Window update agent 3.0 technique myself... but could have saved me an hour if this had come out two weeks ago..
oh well.
skype doesn't (or shouldn't certainly) blame M$ they say it was a flaw on their end... a flaw which was brought to light by numerous system restarts after Microsoft's security patches came out.
certainly if i was making a product like skype that would be running on millions of windows PCs I would want to make sure that my product could handle something as well known as patch tuesday without blowing up for 2days.
Nothing about this is Microsoft's fault...it is all on skype.... but hey don't let reality stand in the way of a good ol' fashioned Microsoft slagging.
I wonder how many slashdot users have sore fingers from the subconscious slamming of keyboard keys whenever they type the hated Microsoft name?
it is HILLARIOUS how many have come running out to bitch that to catch a predator is entraptorizing those pooooor men that just want to have sex w/ underage girls
Perverted Justice's volunteers are experts at pretending to be kids online. For this investigation, they are posing as 12, 13 or 14-year-olds. The volunteers are in local chat rooms waiting to be hit on by adults interested in sex. Perverted Justice says its volunteers never contact anyone first. Once a man makes his intentions clear he is invited over to our undercover house.
people that hit on 12-14yr old kids then try to come over to their house to have sex with said 12-14yr old kids...can burn in fucking hell.... or just as acceptably in my view..be the lowest of the low in a prison system that HAAAAAAAAAAAAATES people that fuck w/ kids..... pwn'd child raping/would be child raping assholes.
as far as the story itself goes it is pretty funny... I doubt NBC broke any laws... she **may have broke the defcon rules but that doesn't mean any criminal violations occurred certainly.
the replies in this mess should go far to ensuring this place remains a "SAUSAGE FEST"
jeezous...amazing how people might have reached the conclusion that people on./ don't evar evar get laid.
good idea...but that would just keep you looking at the preinstalled cache of ads
on the other hand even for free and ad-less you'd still be using M$ works...which is a pretty useless program...
oh well...some people must like it, or having it meet their needs enough not to look for something better..so whatever works (no pun intended) for them
you do can have a crappy $20 (on sale at bb) home router that says CISCO Sytems on it...whoopdy do
it is kinda sad how much crappier the home stuff is built over the last few years as the home networking stuff became more commoditized.
my old RT314 router had nice rugged metal housing and plethora of status lights now you get a cheapy plastic housing and 1 light be port if lucky.... not to mention crap like the cutting in half of the RAM on the WRT54G and other bs cost cutting moves by linksys on that product making later wrt54g garbage.
but i don't entirely care cause i use a old PC / monowall for my routing / firewall needs. and I have a nice rack mount switch i picked up off ebay for very little...

oh right this is slashdot sort of a moot point by in large really.
come the Fuck on./ how many times are you going to run this bs with the same FUD'd out omg m$ hates da mac users title??
this is a well known story with vista and virtualization there is no fucking need for this
in fact running this over with such as bs slant is kinda pissing me off at this point.
good day.

you can stock pile all the damn OEM XP licenses you want they aren't going to do you a fucking bit of good when m$ stops supporting XP.
personally I haven't found vista to be a that bad... but I've not been using it cause of the performance hit vs. XP on my PC.
for something like a CPU which (if you are a big enough nerd) gets taken out swapped..etc occasionally.. how much harder would it be to get the old paste off... in order to have fresh new (effective) paste on when reinstalling the CPU???
for the record after years of overclockers lapping their cpu's to a mirror surface i am amused that IBM now says the rough surface is more effective =p

well....... the SATA cable is kinda of a joke, (really easy to damage or knock loose)..... using a SATA cable for an external drive seems like a bad idea. But then again I'm not sure the eSATA are any more resilient

seems like there are similar problems everywhere..I for example really like TopGear on the BBC..... sadly however there is no legitimate way for me to watch it here in America.... So naturally I never watch it at all =p (pro tip never admit piracy or other crimes on teh interweb)
but from TFA... his cohorts were sentenced to 46 and 33 months respectively...... he has apparently spent 3yrs in a detention facility (36mos) and now could get up to 10yrs...(in theory).
one might think that it would have been better to just waive extradition and come fight his case here....3yrs ago...cause he'd be about out by now... even if he was convicted. =p (based on the other sentences)
I'm glad for my part that I don't like people enough to be a "robinhood" cause I'm not going to jail for a bunch of poor bastards that can't buy software...but can mysteriously afford shinny new PCs to run softwarzes on???
well if you already have access to the PC.... you don't really need the encryption key anyway...
if on the other hand you find the USB flash drive laying on the ground.... cause someone dropped it... the key residing somewhere on the HD of the person that dropped the flash drive isn't really going to help you get at the information on it.
obviously the encryption/decryption is going to entail "some" overhead... if they had implemented it with out encryption it would doubtlessly be faster and of course terribly insecure..... but the benchmarks i've seen suggest that w/ readyboost load times improve (well on systems w/ 512MB,1GB, or 2GB...systems w/ 4+GBs dosn't do much for) vs not having ReadyBoost

at least it isn't a iPhone story
my g/f needed a new computer a bit ago...I did try to get her to build it with me...(you know me show her how to do it and what not)
zero interest on her part...she just didn't care..she just wanted me to do it and tell me when it was done..... which is fine and all.
why the hell does she need a power screw driver to build this thing again?

a boeing 737 (small and reasonably cheap by airliner standards) costs between 50-85million dollars for a single aircraft
so no you won't be replacing the whole of the airline fleets for 40billion dollars.
I was hella thristy.
i think you read the article wrong. last week they said they would make changes if necessary this week they said they would make changes
based on where you say you are? and what you say that place is like?
