Figure out what failed and make a new one, modified to avoid the weakness. In the case of the bezel, heck, get a nice piece of hardwood (walnut or maple look nice), a Dremel, assorted grades of sandpaper, etc. and make one out of wood. It'll be stronger than the original, look much nicer, and be a totally unique laptop!

As the government has rather firmly established in a number of cases, it is not responsible for protecting citizens. It logically follows that we citizens have the right and the responsibility to protect and defend ourselves and our property. I don't advocate shooting people except as a last resort, but if I catch some sob breaking into my car, stealing something off my property, or otherwise violating my person or property, we'll get that fixed immediately one way or another. If the thief (or whatever) wants to back down and act right nobody has to be hurt. If not he may leave wearing more holes than he came with. I think if more of us stood up for ourselves we'd all have a lot less to fear from thugs, thieves and such. That's just plain common sense to me.

  12. Re:If most americans had half a brain... on Deconstructing the Patriot Act PR Campaign · · Score: 1

Please keep in mind that the U.S. Constitution is essentially an anti-government document by design. Consider the time and situation during which it was crafted. It is a beautiful piece of work created to protect citizens and states from an oppressive federal government, and various federal 'leaders' have been working around it from the very beginning. Several simple steps must be taken if we are to successfully fight terrorism: 1)Read and understand the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, 2)Make it easier for the citizens to arm themselves with any weapons they may choose, 3)Repeal any and all laws which do not comport with the letter and spirit of the Constitution and the will of our Founders. I am sure there are other steps which will need to be taken, but all should proceed from these and never be allowed to deviate from these ideas. And don't blame the Republicans or the Democrats; both major parties are working toward the same goal. They want We, the People to be powerless in our own defense. This is the nature of government, which is unavoidably evil, and the Constitution is our only hope.

Manufacturers choose to build products they believe people will buy. If consumers choose to buy a product it follows that they are also "buying" responsibility for the outcome of their choice. That includes disposal of all unwanted parts, packaging, and products which have outlived their usefulness. It doesn't matter WHO pays initially for the disposal, the cost will naturally be borne by the consumer. Everything the manufacturer pays for winds up in the price of the product. People offended by the cost of recycling should go to work in the recycling industry for a while.

The second amendment is very important to me, as is the entire Constitution. The US Constitution is being trampled into the dirt by Republicans and Democrats alike, and this must stop. Otherwise at some point the people will have no recourse but to retake the Country, in the same spirit with which it was taken from England over 200 years ago. A simple reading of the Document quickly establishes that our Founders were well aware of this possibility and took great pains to provide for it in our Constitution. Incidently, I am no "gun nut" nor am I a reactionary conservative. I am a Constitutional Conservative and there is a world of difference.
