Exactly. Why are we so quick to jump to conclusions about plants and animals being the same as humans now a days anyways?
Well, since humans ARE animals...
It seems to me that the poster remarking that they might not be able to tell the difference between their own roots and the roots of a close relative is a plausible theory, but I have no problem with using terms like "altruistic" to explain this. All we as human animals ever do is just react to stimuli as well, just in a much more complicated fashion.
FruityLoops is simply an amazing piece of software. It is NOT just a drum machine/click and point sampler like hydrogen. With *full* MIDI interfacing, the piano roll, VST/other plugins, programmable effects processing, excellent import/export capabilities and more, there is simply nothing else like it.
I know professional artists that have released tracks produced entirely in FruityLoops. Can't say the same for any Linux audio software.
I have been running Linux exclusively for closing in on three years now. I really don't want to run Windows, but looks like I will have to. I have spent PLENTY of time trying to find comparable software for Linux, and it just doesn't exist. I have the itch to start producing again, and nothing seems to touch a FruityLoops/Goldwave setup for me...
but this shows that they are scared of competition, buying out competitors that are small enough perhaps....
You weren't around in the late 90's during the tech boom, were you? Cisco has always been notorious for purchasing companies to enter new market space. Many of the products Cisco offers today were originally produced by other companies, and when seen viable they were snatched up by Cisco.
I don't think it's that Cisco is scared. I think it's smart business. It's exactly actions like purchasing Linksys that has gotten Cisco to where they are today.
I used to be bipolar, particularly very manic. I was the happiest person you ever met, which is why no one ever assumed there was a problem.
Through medication and self evaluation, I have returned to "normal". That is the most important part to remember. You CAN return to "normal". It's not an end-all. I have now been off of all medication for a year and a half, and I'm doing fine.
There are many sources that do in fact prove that beans prepared for use in espresso drinks contain less caffeine than cheaper beans.
Also, you are correct that the dark-roast process will burn off some of the caffeine found in these beans.
And, yes, when it comes down to it, ounce by ounce, "regular" coffee has more caffeine in it than espresso roasted coffee. However, we are all missing something very important here. This is BEFORE the coffee is brewed!
When brewing an 8oz cup of coffee, you use about 1oz of ground "regular" coffee. When brewing a 1oz shot of espresso, you use about 1oz of ground "espresso" coffee.
Yes, the GROUNDS have more caffeine, but a single shot of espresso still has more caffeine in it than one 8oz cup of coffee!
If you're in Linux you should be able to clone a second virtual wireless interface. Then just spoof a MAC ont he second, and you're good to go. You can do it on one card. You don't even need to use anything besides the built-in functionality of ifconfig.
Please note, I am merely an American German Student. Any native German speakers are welcome to correct me:
Stuttgart (AP) - The presumed programming of the computer worm "Phatbot" was apprehended this weekend: as the state criminal police agency in Stuttgart and the responsible public prosecutor's office communicated on Saturday, an unemployed 21 year old was arrested near Lörrach. He admitted to having programmed, with other hackers, the Trojan "Agobot", which was later renamed to "Phatbot". There is currently no known direct connection between him and the "Sasser" programmer arrested in Niedersachsen.
The authorities searched for evidence on Friday, through the apartment of the suspect, as well as five possible accomplices in Baden-Wuerttemberg, Niedersachen, Hamburg and Bavaria. Numerous documents as well as computers and storage media were confiscated, and would have to be examined further. References from US Authorities helped provide evidence for the arrest of the suspect.
The 21 year-old had already aimed attacks at US and Brittish companies in 2003. The companies concerned were offline for several days and suffered damages in the millions. Also in Germany it was indicated that the suspect penetrated company computers. Aside from just the criminal consequences, substantial compesnation demands may be made.
The trojan mentioned is transferred to unsuspecting computers in order to take control of them. The initial evidence of the authorities of Baden-Württemberg points to the 21 year-old using the "Sasser" in order to develop the much more dangerous worm "Agobot/Phatbot".
First, I'd like to start off by saying that I currently don't even have gentoo installed on any of my systems. I am not a gentoo zealot.
That being said, while I was reading the article posted earlier regarding Linux Useability I actually asked a few friends: Does Portage have a GUI browser/installer yet?
If it did, Gentoo could instantly be turned into the single most user-friendly distro on the planet. The primary problem with Linux (besides game support, etc.) is the ease of program installation. Imagine how easy it would be to code a pretty GUI to allow you to browse the Gentoo Portage Tree (which is already split up into intuitive categories) and install whatever you need.
Gentoo is a phenominal distro. It would take very minor amounts of tweaking to make it incredibly user-friendly.
What difference does that really make? The Ogg Vorbis audio format sucks.
I'm not trolling here. You can check my karma and previous posts if you'd like. I'm all about open standards.
However, if the Ogg Vorbis video codec is going to be anywhere near the quality of their audio codec, I won't use it.
Before you mark me as a troll, encode something at 320kbps in Ogg and in 320kbps using LAME, and tell me that the difference isn't so amazing you'd wonder why you ever used ogg in the first place. (Besides the fact that it's totally open. That IS a major selling point.)
I guess the main point here is that we shouldn't be sitting here relying on "The Ogg Vorbis" people or the like to bring us something open. Why aren't we working on changing the general attitude towards these things, so even better codecs are developed open in the first place?
Don't place a band-aid on the wound. Stop it from happening in the first place.
What about implied consent? Since you know by using the IM application that your conversation is automatically being recorded in the other party(or parties) IM application, doesn't that necessarily mean that you have consented to its recording?
* 1.5 GHz Pentium IV or comparable * 128MB RAM * 30MB Hard Disk Space * 32bit Sound Card * Windows 2000, Windows XP * 8x speed or greater CD Burner (Required for Burning) * 16x speed or greater CDROM (Required for Ripping)
When you're developing a game for a specific platform that will never change, why would developers use any sort of time-based algorithm to determine game speed? You'd end up with a smoother/prettier game if you merely used the limits of the hardware to control the speed of your game.
Especially back in those days where most of the games really DID push the limits of the hardware. Almost any game would slow down with too many sprites on the screen, etc.
I'd assume almost any Genesis game would play very, very quickly on an overclocked system.
You might be kidding about this, but I don't think you're all wrong.
You need to expose these kind of people to real social situations: including drinking, etc.
The best example I can come up with is as follows:
Back in high school I used to hang out a the local Starbucks a LOT. Most of my high school clique did too. (If if makes anything make more sense, I've always been a computer geek, but was very popular in high school. I wasn't just hanging out with Linux geeks at this Starbucks...)
In any case, this kid named Eric started showing up. He was the most shy person I have ever met, but obviously wanted social interaction. He'd come up to Starbucks, pull up a chair next to our table, and not say a word. When you asked him a question, he'd mumble a response so low you'd have to ask him to repeat it 4 times. He wouldn't speak, he wouldn't say anything at all.
About a year later, we convinced him to come to a party with us. And he drank. He got drunk. And he talked at a normal tone! He actually TALKED.
It wasn't an instant cure, but over the months following that, Eric came out more. At first he would only talk while he was drinking. But as time went by, he became comfortable with talking, and when I last saw him, his social problems had entirely disapeared.
You might be kidding about the "Get him drunk" comment, but I ask everyone to think for a sec: "Why do most people drink?" in the first place?
Even for those of us without hardcore social interaction problems, it's because it still helps us loosen up, etc.
You may not be as off with your "Get him drunk" comment as people might assume.
Wasn't there a (third) problem with mremap back around summertime too? These all sound like barebones, common mistakes. Who is contributing this source? Was it all the same person? Maybe we should be checking his/her code a bit more closely!
I doubt you'd count Latin as a "real" language, but I learnt more English grammar in my Latin lessons than in my English, French and Spanish lessons put together.
Apparently even with the help of your Latin classes you did not learn all too much grammar...
Since the book in question was released more than two years ago, I think it's okay now.
Well, since humans ARE animals...

For what it's worth, I live in Richmond (The Fan) and have dropped all landline service cause my cell coverage is amazing. I use Verizon.

Nope. I haven't noticed any difference in 2.6 at all.
I don't steal any music, but I am currently in the process of backing up my entire CD collection (~500 CDs) as 320kbps mp3's. Current stats:
Albums: 109
Songs: 1465
Size: 13.6G
And those are all 320kbps mp3's, and only full albums.

I sure hope that counts for me...
And that's only since about November or so.
And it's not bloated?
They won't find anyone like that. They are only suing people that share files, not people downloading files. (If I'm not mistaken).
Even if you own the CD or whatever, it would be very difficult to explain allowing the world to download from you...
Most (if not all) of them, I'd assume.

No, not very often serious. :) I will openly admit I did not know learnt was an irregular form of learned, however! Thanks!
Apparently even with the help of your Latin classes you did not learn all too much grammar...
:)
Seriously. I own several hamsters, and they are all considerably larger than my thumb.
Random Google Image Search for hamster: here
Shows the perspective a bit for a normal sized hamster.
Just a quick note:
Craigslist.org is VERY active in the DC-Metro area; everything from jobs to the 120 gallon fish-tank my friend just bought.
I soooo hope you're kidding. You realize it's a pen and paper game, right?
But, that is exactly my point. Smaller viewable, does not support the same resolution, and costs more than twice as much.
I have nothing against LCD's, but I'm not sure why the great-grandparent poster thinks no one would be buying CRT's anymore.
