My office sends out about 20-30 prescriptions a day. Unless it's for a controlled substance (ie: narcotics), there's NEVER a call back to the office to check if a script is legit.

And even if it is a controlled substance there's no call to the office unless the script comes in an unusual format (ie: a printed out script rather than an original signature of the provider).

  3. What's the problem? on People Keep Finding Hidden Cameras in Their Airbnbs (buzzfeed.com) · · Score: 1

I have security cameras being installed in the near future. (I bought the Lorex system and am waiting for the installation to complete.)

I'm putting up several cameras around the perimeter of the house but also putting up a few internal cameras. Ones to catch the entrances to the house, one for the basement window near the power mains, one to cover my bar, and one for the entrance to my master bedroom.

I figure that if someone breaks in when we're away those are the areas that would be targets. The bar one is for when the kids are older and have friends over. I want there to be no question if someone started drinking when they are not supervised.

As for recording when someone is (hypothetically) renting the house, I would certainly keep them all on. What if someone breaks in while the renters are away for dinner?

And there's actually nothing wrong about that. I collected comics as a kid. I loved going to a comic store (Commercial! My kids love comics. They're now 11 and 14 years old. I'm happy that comic characters (if not collecting comics) are becoming somewhat mainstream. We've been to a couple comic cons (Tampa and Philly) and they enjoyed geeking out around adults who love what they love.

  5. My kids are 11 and 14. My 14y/o just got her first smartphone last month.

It's a couple year old iPhone 6S and it's locked down. Adjusting parental settings allowed me to prevent certain websites and totally removed the app store.

Yes, it's actually locked down more than I would like it to be. But I want her to get used to it as a locked down device with the opportunity to increase her permissions in the future.

Next year I'll probably let my 11y/o get a flip phone.

That's why there's a rash of complaints every time the OS gets updated that the new version makes it slower.

When I lived in San Diego, my biggest complaint about In-N-Out Burger is that they never have enough parking spaces and their drive through line is so long that it also blocks parking spaces.

Now they are taking their limited parking and giving spaces to Tesla-only car charging. Own a Chevy Bolt/Volt, Ford Energi, Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid, Fiat 500e, Nissan Leaf, no charging for you.

I suppose Chevy, Ford, Chrysler, Fiat, and Nissan can team up and by a slot on the same side of the street as In-N-Out?

Frankly, I can't remember ever seeing a branded charger from any of those manufacturers.

Tesla paid to put it up. Tesla can (and does) make it car specific. Capitalism at it's best.

Original brake pads but third set of tires (both of the first two sets got changed under tire warranty at my local BJs).

Does great in the snow so far (in North East Pennsylvania) on standard all-weather tires. It's rear wheel drive. Wondering how much better the four wheel drive models could possibly be.

In fact, it's a well-known trick in my company: if you want a quick raise, hit those sites regularly at lunch time, even if you're happy with your job and your salary. Do that for a while, and HR eventually calls you to propose you a better pay package - as if they magically knew you're not completely happy with your current conditions. I've had two pay raises that way, without lifting a finger :)

    Interesting.

A friend of mine told me that their employer blocked access to the job sites at the router level, forcing people to use their phone minutes. When he complained to IT, the IT guy told him it was a service to the employees so that management wouldn't bother them because they were looking for other jobs.

That being said, I keep one macbook at home for presentations (it's the only non-linux computer I own).

I haven't tried Impress in a while. Maybe it's gotten better.

But Keynote has drag-n-drop videos, beautiful master slide sets, pretty transitions, and supports multiple monitors with the ability to show one slide on the projector while previewing the next on the laptop monitor.

Now, do the shiney and pretty effects matter during a presentation? Absolutely. I'm not generally giving presentations to a bunch of tech guys or PhD candidates. I give them to adults with (at best) a high school diploma. And they like things with a little pizazz.
