I am too lazy to open lilo.conf and change
default=Windows
my current computer came with ME, but the next one would have XP, whose EULA I don't agree to.
So I guess when my H/w becomes too obsolete and WinME is no longer available i will switch.
Also i haven't found one good video conf. s/w in linux. gnomemeeting is not there yet.
but hotmail does not allow you to attach files
if not accessed from IE.
I first thgt that there was a bug in moz's rendering
and it was not rendering the Attach Files button,
but upon checking the HTML i found that there is no code for the upload button.
When accessed thru IE, however the compose screen has a attach files button.
considering last time I was there, most of my familys electricity was turned off at 9pm.
only if u stay in some remote village. INmy home town bombay, the worst of the worst black outs last for about 2-3 hours and happen very rarely like once or twice a year.
Also in india , most of the schooling is done in english. the regional languages and nationl language hindi is only tought in schools.
Once you are in high school or college, preety much most of your education is in english, unless you are studying languages.
Almost all scientific education is in english.
So if you meet an indian, chances are that if he is educated, he will know english. If he is not educated, why would he need a PDA for any way ?
The last time i tried one of those BIG-NAME ntivirus soultions. (name withheld in fear of a
defamation suit), It completely crashed my OS, my Hard Disk and my motherboard.
If you want a much cleaner solution try a free Anti-virus from grisoft.
Or better still use linux like i do:-)

using linux with root account is more dangerous than using windows.
don't believe me . just do "rm -rf/"
The only time you really need to explicitly import individual classes is to resolve a class name conflict (e.g. org.cpfeifer.ListItertor and java.util.ListIterator).
Nope , you still don't need to import classes individually. but you must specify the full class name where u use one.e.g.
import org.cpfeifer.*;
import java.util.*;
and then
org.cpfrifer.ListInerator iter1 = new org.cpfeifer.ListIterator();
java.util.ListIterator iter2 = new
java.util.ListIterator();
Or it you are using a returned value, just
typecast it to the fully qualified class name
but switching from dual boot to linux boot is not switching to linux.
you already switched to linux when u installed it in the first place, and i am sure you have accquired enough proficiency with the OS to use it full time except your ISP won't allow it.
what i am talking about is average computer user, do u really belive that they really care what OS runs on their PCs, as long as they can do what they want to do.
and if windows allows them to do so, why bother to switch ?
If you break donw AOL Internet Service in to two distinct componets. 1) AOL as an ISP, This makes sense as USA is very slow in adopting broadband internet. But if you have DSL in your area and dont mind an extra 30-40$ , Then no dial-up service can match DSL or cable.
2) The AOL s/w. Now this i find totally redundant. The IM chat client can be installed seperately, and I frankly don't see any advantage of keyword look-up over URL. So what is porting AOL over to linux going to acchieve ? Surely you don't think ppl, would switch to linux just becaus AOL have a clinet for linux. AOL can not afford to ignore the Win users so they will have client for Windows too.
and the network computer, (or was it "network is computer") was supposed to eliminate hard disks.
Java was supposed to be write once run every where.
and Jini was supposed to allow pluging in Washing m/cs in a network (???)
and the biggest of them all.
Computers were supposed to create a paperless office.
we most definitely do. especially if you are searching for current events. How many times have we come across links for past events , when all we want is current events. Plus the news are sorted by relevance which is very helpful
No need to buy 30$ on distros.
Linux CDs can be distributed by anyone.
checkout
Linux Central.
There are more cheap CD selling shops a google search Cheap linux cd may help
All the best.
Ok here is the deal,
If i have a kick-ass Solaris m/c which i bough 2 years ago (was kick-ass back then). Solaris
technology has not changed so much to force me to
upgrade the hardware. I can always download the
latest solaris OS and keep my m/c uptodate.
Same goes for other propritory *nix boxes.
Now on the other hand, I bought a WinNT Server two years ago. Somehow i have managed to work with it.
but now if i want to upgrade to XP, i have no choice but to buy the latest x86 based hardware.
Plus the trackrecord of M$ for security and stability is also at the back of my mind
Now if i dont want to upgarde my x86 based hardware every two years then a lean-mean version of linux makes more sence. As in current economy I dont have the budget to buy a Solaris box. If your company doesn't want to keep pace with the x86 based hardware upgrades, then LINUX is the BEST choice out there. Install it and forget about it.
Netscape on solaris is supported by SUN.
The latest version available on Solaris is 6.2.3
u can get it from
Netscape On Solaris
Also solaris mozilla binaries take about 4-5 weeks before they are available on mozilla.org.
And building it from source is pain in the A$$.
I take class only if the training guys are
offering free coffee mugs or T-shirts.
For every thing else i use one of those
bibles (the computer books, not religious) or
complete references or O'reilly and OFCouse R&K.

weren't they the ones who said, using a non-microsoft product in Government would lead to security problems.

VIM can easily be configured as a KPart component and used in almost all KDE programs. take a look at KVim. Vi rocks period.
