Does anyone remember back in the day when they used to give away free accounts? They weren't shell accounts, but you could do email, news and IRC. This was back in 1990, and basically that's how I got my feet wet on the internet. Good ol' times I reckon...

Unfortunately for you and me, human interaction is a necessity, especially in a working environment. In fact, the most successful people in the world KNOW this...

Except for the fact that both thinkgeek and slashdot are owned by the same people. Then again, they have to pay the bills.

I have seen Dan's article before, and while interesting to see what happened, and his explanation...all of the sudden it hit me! If you want to prevent algae and microbiological stuff in the water, use a waterbed conditioner!!! That's exactly what it's used for in waterbeds and it's very cheap.
>ITs better because >1. You don't have to dial a 18 digit sams code # No, I program speed dial in my home phone. All it takes is one memory for the 800# and the other for the options/code #
>2. you dont' have to carry a card with a 18 digit sams code # No, I have used it so many times that I have *memorized* my code #. It's the 800# + 12 digits by the way.
>3. you don't have to "refresh" your 18 digit sams code # everytime your card finishes specially in the middle of a conversation:) This has happened to me many times. Guess what? I can recharge it with a push of a button in less than 10 seconds. Sometimes the other party doesn't even know it happened!
>4. you don't have to be a sams member to get it ( you CANNOT buy it if you're not a member the walmart card is at a higher rate (around 4-6/ cents/min) Just ask a friend or someone to get it for you. Also Sam's allows you to buy stuff for a day (a courtesy)
>5. wham bam sorry sam Nope, minutes won't expire, there is no "First minute takes a quarter of your whole talking time ", and the payphone surcharge is only 10 units (about 35 cents) which could be CHEAPER than some payphones that ask you to put in 50 cents for a local call!
Reading about the history of email and instant messaging, it reminded me of how easy it was to echo "Hi there" >/dev/tty01 to send a message to another college acquaintance...ahh the memories...
No, it's a sign of a much better economy than what it used to be in the past. No matter what side you take on politics, you can't argue that right now we are so much better economically overall than in the late 70's/early 80's.
not only that but I had another mistake there "you got" should read "you have to". Similar errors are what are found there...take a look at the forums and their funny subject misspellings:)

>Would Halo (or JSRF, or DOA3, or PDO, or etc.) play that much better if Xbox sales tripled?
:)
No, but it would increase the chance of a Halo2, JSRF2 or PDO2 by 3 times
> as I swap floppies 3 times per mp3 that adds depth to the listening experience...
:)
See...if you would've used Ogg vorbis, you may not need to swap floppies at all! (/ducks)
I thought when you sell your computer or your computer dies, you can't transfer your Windows license, at least not legally...

The "now depecrated" chkdsk is alive and well, albeit in a different form in Windows 2000/XP. Is there a "gui" counterpart to chkdsk for Win XP?
Try a ps2->usb adapter, they work pretty well with basically all emulators and PC games. LevelSix.com

Seems you forget about Nesticle and Genicyst and RAPE (R?? Another Pokemon Emulator)
Media Consolidation :)
wasn't this already posted?
The only reason I can see him opposed to this, is the fact that he was "left out" of consolidation and he is hurting big time.

I wonder what can be gained from having access to propietary Unix source. It seems that doing this would be illegal on its own.
It's Sunday. That's why :)

My mind is a little fuzzy at the moment, but didn't we had to deal with Commodore 64's disks with viruses long before 1986?
To combat this, Clyde says that patches would need to be developed more quickly and deployed continuously in an automated mode
You mean like Windows Update?
Carbon/coca is ok but its limited to the mac platform. WxWindows/GTK is a great cross platform gui toolkit but its limited to mainly gui development
:-)
Dude, let go of the crack.
If it's fast enough you can actually play Gameboy Advance Games
