My dad used to use Rain-X on his propeller to keep the bugs from sticking. It actually worked pretty well but had to be reapplied fairly often. I think they're going for something a little more permanent here.
According to the Guangdong-based Information Times, shocks were given if patients broke any of the center's 86 rules, which included prohibitions on eating chocolate, locking the bathroom door, taking pills before a meal, and sitting in Dr. Yang's chair without permission.
This wasn't an election, it was a poll. Even removing Colbert from the equation they didn't go with the next popular choice, which would have been Serenity. They went with the eighth most popular choice. So in the end they just ignored the results of the poll and picked the one they liked the best, which they had the right to do. So yes, Colbert didn't rig it, but it was most definitely rigged.
it will be a side-scrolling platform shooter like every other bloody tie-in. Another Metal Slug clone, only this time you'll get to shoot bees from your hands.
Take a look at the in-game footage in the article. It's most definitely not a side-scroller.
Not sure about the requirements for other fire, but
this is pretty close to what is required by our local department. Of course, the guy in the video is doing it in about half of the required time.
Actually if i remember correctly, if you stay below 4,000ft with a light aircraft (in the US anyways) you don't need a pilots license. i could be mistaken though.
You are definitely mistaken. A pilot's license is required to fly a plane at any altitude. However, no license is required to fly an ultralight (single seat, under 250 pounds).
You're telling me there's an organization that actually checks advertisements for false and misleading information, and has the power to pull blatant lies off the air? When did this happen?
1962. That's in the UK, though. I don't think we have anything like that in the U.S.
Because of the security risks involved with having each plane report their own position, rather than aircraft control finding all the positions for planes, I highly doubt that old fashioned radar is going anywhere soon.
It's no more of a security risk than the current system which relies on each plane to report it's own position with a transponder.
You're right that it's really a problem inherent in the specific plant design. For instance, a Pebble Bed Reactor is much safer, and doesn't require water for cooling.

They go 60's camp. You are a super villains side kick, dressed in fluro spandex you have to try to dominate your city before the other super villain gangs do, all the while evading police and the occasional vigilante dressed in a leotard with a really cool utility belt.
Grand Theft Evil Genius? That actually sounds like a lot of fun.
The attacks are surprises and random, how are they going to try to extrapolate patterns with computers? The article doesn't refer to the attacks as random, but says that they rely on "apparent randomness". Nothing humans do is ever truly random, there are always patterns. They aren't trying to predict when and where and attack will happen, only what target are more likely to be hit.
From the article:
For instance, if there were an attack on a government target, that somewhat increased the chance of an attack on a police target over the next several days.
Armed with this knowledge, commanders could allocate greater than usual resources to protect police assets more carefully for several days after an attack on a government target.
I can totally see a bunch of angry nerds at the docks, raiding a shipment of CDs and DVDs fresh from China, and dumping them into the ocean. And then being sued by environmentalists for polluting the ocean.
About 15 years ago I talked to the mechanics who were tasked with disassembling and moving the last surviving M-21 Blackbird (basically an SR-71 designed to carry an unmanned drone) to The Museum of Flight in Seattle. They said that the Mach Indicator had a needle indicating highest achieved speed. The needle was at Mach 6.3. Of course, the gauge could have been broken or messed with.
Valium in low doses was also to be distributed when there was a danger of chemical attack, it has no effect on the nerve agents but supposedly reduced panic and would help you get the protective gear on faster, lol. The CANA auto-injector used by the US military contains Valium But it's used to prevent seizures in soldiers exposed to nerve agents. Although, I understand an unusually large number of CANA injectors turned up as "field losses" after Desert Storm.
If they're remote controlled, there's always the possibility that someone will usurp control and you might end up with this? The largest of the planes used in the September 11th attacks was a 767-223ER. It has a maximum takeoff weight of 395,000lb, cruises at 568mph, and can carry up to 24,000 gallons of fuel.
The ScanEagle UAV has a maximum takeoff weight of 37.9lb, cruises at 56mph, and can carry up to 2 gallons of fuel. I think our buildings are safe.
The autonomy is less than 500 miles in the air, not so great for interstate trips. My car will do about 400 miles on a tank of gas. You know what I do when it gets low? I fill up the tank.
I find it interesting they're claiming it'll run on plain old unleaded fuel. Many of the newer aircraft engines meant for smaller aircraft are designed to allow for the use of auto gas, as well as 100 octane avgas.
I thought Slashdot was smarter than to give this idiot any attention at all. You must be new here. Slashdot is made up entirely of idiots seeking the attention of other idiots by posting clever responses to stories or other peoples comments. If you don't believe me, just read this post again.

Boobs never hurt anybody.
This guy might disagree with you.
It's second on the list of Action games.

Since you buy a computer to run applications, not operating systems, shouldn't you expect that most of your resources are going to the applications?
Yes, but hopefully not a single application.
