And for now, at least, we still have the right to voice our opinions.
At least I think "freedom of speech" still applies in this country - let me see if I can find the actual text of The Patriot Act and I'll get back to you...
But not by Blizzard. Blizzard still has the "we're not going to release a game until it's ready" mentality. But, Vivendi (Blizzard's parent company) is of the "damnit! We need money NOW!" mentality.
Thus, World of Warcraft will be released earlier than Blizzard prefers.
Not to worry, though - it will still be n times more polished and stable and fun than almost any other online game.
I've had the chance to play some WoW beta. I can tell you it will definitely be the first online game I'll buy, and will probably be the only one I buy for a good long while.
(Although, "City of Heroes" looks like a lot of fun, too!!)
Wow, I can't believe you got modded 'troll' for that. If I had mod points, I'd give you 'insightful'!
Everyone on the planet will be "influenced" by the results of this election. Whether it be a continuation of the "send troops first, try diplomacy last" policy of the current administration, to the U.S. continuing to use WAY more than our fair share of energy (and producing WAY more than our fair share of CO2), to the U.S. being seen as a bully to the rest of the world instead of being seen as a friend to the rest of the world -- Yes, everyone will be influenced.
If you thought the last presidential was divisive, this one will be ten times more so...
Oh you poor thing... A six-digit salary? How do you survive?
Try being a programmer making half what he was two years ago, (well under six-digits, for sure!) a mortgage and that same workload.
I say companies that outsource just to raise the bottom line should LOSE ALL TAX BREAKS!
Would these be the same companies that have their "headquarters" located in Bermuda, a country that just coincedentaly has no corporate income tax?
Would these be the same companies that shirk their responsibilities as citizens of what is arguably the greatest country in the world, by claiming they are based elsewhere?
The same companies that claim all the benefits of being here, while not supporting those benefits?
Unfortunately, "ethics" in business seems to be gone forever. If you do happen to work for a company that still has ethics, you're truly lucky! (and can I come work with you??)
Bravo, well said. I've been in IT for over 20 years, my last employer booted me (and *hundreds* of other IT people) 18 months ago so they could send our jobs overseas.
I'm getting really sick of trying to live on $5 a day, but fortunately I've got an interview tomorrow at a place where people usually work 20+ years and retire with a pension. Wish me luck!
I also have one with the TV tuner. I use it more as a portable TV than as a portable game system. The TV picture is really quite good for such a small screen!
You want a 'face' of the person that gets screwed in this deal? Ok, how about me?
Software developer, over 20 years of experience. US Military veteran (for you patriotic types), worked at my previous employer for over nine years. Skilled in every technology they ever asked me to learn, successful in every project I worked on. Stuck with my employer through thick and thin. Designed and built a system that increases profits by over $15,000,000 a year, while reducing inventory costs.
The last project I worked on finished on-time, under budget, worked perfectly, and made the customer (in their words) "extremely happy". Heck, the day before I was canned those same customers took me out to lunch to say 'thank you' for my effort on their project, and to say how excited they were with the work I had done.
Four days after the project went into production I was fired, by a boss who claimed I couldn't do my job.
My job is now being done by an Indian H1-B worker...
Isn't there a clause in the H1-B regulation somewhere that says a company has to prove they cannot find 'local' people to do a job? Because I can guarantee that's not the case here! To take a job from someone with over 20 years of experience and give it to someone with less than two years of experience just doesn't add up...
I'm totally in the same boat as you are, but you have to realize that Bionicle has been a great money-maker for The LEGO Company.
In fact, if it weren't for the Bionicle series, it's possible that LEGO would have been out of business by now...
*old man rant mode*
These pesky meddlin' kids these days just don't know a good LEGO product when they see it. Give me a huge box of basic bricks, maybe some specialized pieces like hinges and wheels and windows, and let me build whatever the heck I want...
So far just a bunch of 404s, but I've got my fingers crossed.
You mean George Bush and John Kerry, right?

"But, can we make sure this payment from SCO clears, first?"
Friends don't let friends vote Republican...
Men are not complex, men are simple.
Women are complex, (or so I've been told...)
Some people say the exact same thing about the 32-bit versions of Windows...
"Beyond Excellent"?
"Stupendous"?
"Off the chart"?
As long as there is more money to be made, or even suspected of being made -- it will be in your local multi-plex someday...
Oh you poor thing... A six-digit salary? How do you survive?

Windows (the kind you look through to see the outside world) are nice, too...
Methinks "a lot"...
Deflect criticism
Pass on praise
Run interference when necessary.
Yup, he was a great boss!
You misspelled "Moron"...
Anyone?
Anyone??
I think what this country needs is a few more "leaders" who understand the idea of "do unto others as you would have them do unto you"...

Then Han shot him with his walkie-talkie...

Anyone looking for a skilled developer? <sigh>
It originally read: "My telephone number is 999-999-9999 or email fud@fud.com" or something like that....
A rather kind thing to do in this situation!
If you can't explain what you do in a way a 10 year old can understand, your business will probably fail.
In fact, if it weren't for the Bionicle series, it's possible that LEGO would have been out of business by now...
