Am I the only one who, upon seeing the headline in their browser (or RSS reader in my case), immediately thought that someone came out with a public RSS aggregation ("Planet") regarding one of the following public icons: Jessica Simpson, OJ Simpson, The Simpsons?
Well, the AMD64 (desktop) chips include their own memory controller, which is probably what you're thinking of. I do not know if the Turion does as well, however, if it's a "mobilization" of the desktop chip (or even if it's not), it would make sense.
Hmm. There is a science of it. Certified Medical Acupuncturists? Yes, they're doctors. Yes, they study acupuncture and use it. It's far more science than chiropractors.
Yep. Those are inserted by a script. Adblock for FFX, then click "Adblock" in the lower right, and block the scripts (make sure to use * ) and refresh the page. You'll probably need to give which scripts you block you block a bit of thought, but I think you can probably figure it out.
Just because some can't do it, doesn't mean it's not impossible. It's been said to death, but a router (or just simple inbound port blocking), Firefox, Thunderbird, and some common sense can save you here. It's not really that hard. You don't even neccessarily need a virus scanner (GASP!) although a scan once in a while with ClamWin www.clamwin.org or Norton probably doesn't hurt.
I doubt few people who can tell the difference between 'the internet' and http://www.myrandomvanitypageorblog.com/ are still using AOL. There are a few, of course, but very few.
Not sure what the problem with your system is... I have a Pentium 233 (or 266?) MMX laptop that I even run GNOME on, and it works fine (Nautilus lags a bit, but it always does). Firefox is just great with it, and I actually use it to set up/configure routers with web interfaces. No issues here. I have a similar setup on a 700MHz laptop, and I realized a large "responsiveness" boost when replacing Metacity with the XFCE window manager, so that might say something.
For what it's worth, within the last few months we got an OS X developer again, and we've really made improvements. For a while the Mac OS X port was lagging simply because the developer that started it could no longer work on it. It's probably worth another shot. (I've used it and it worked better than Word 2004 for me, though YMMV)
Update to Windows XP service pack 2 (if you're using Windows, since this is a telltale symptom). Prior to SP2, Wireless Zero Config tends to randomly lose connections (fix temporarily by restarting the wireless zero config service). If you have drivers installed for your card that theoretically has a configuration environment, you can even turn off WZC, it may help. Otherwise, SP2: it seems to be much improved for wireless connectivity.
It was probably a warning for those of us who don't have a fast connection. Your wise remarks were quite witty and appreciated. What was appreciated more was the warning that did you no harm.
Same here - Wells Fargo works great in FFX, even installed FFX on a banker's home pc:). Something tells me original poster may have another problem, a specialized use, or may be acting like a short mythological creature.
Please, please write an XMMS plugin! I have a Winamp plugin that does this very thing very, very well (iZotope Ozone), and it's one of the few things I let keep me on Windows on my main system. On nice speakers, the difference is remarkable.
I was in the Orlando area (as a tourist) when Charley hit. Friday they closed at I believe two pm, and reopened the next day partially/a little late, and were back up to full operating condition (they actually reopened "seasonally closed" attractions due to overflow refugee crowds, I presume) within a few days.
BIG ONE which Firefox doesn't do: - when I open a new tab (say a link from slashdot) with the middle button (same in both apps) - Netcaptor goes directly to the next tab to the right, Firefox throws my new page (tab) straight to the end of the line - so I have to click to the end rather than just go to the next Window (sounds small, but when you get used to it - it's pain to be without it)
Can't find the GUI'ed pref in firefox, but could have sworn at least Mozilla AS and earlier FireFoxish builds had a pref for opening new tabs in background. I find the current behavior to be much more intuitive, but you are accustomed to a different method, hence why it's a good use of prefs.
Captorgroups (text file with X urls in it - open that group opens all X sites)
Example the News group would go to
cnn.com
msnbc.com
theage.com.au
heraldsun.com.au
someothernewspublication.com.blah
This one I know they have: Go to bookmarks, bookmark this page. Check the box "Bookmark all tabs in a folder", and set the name to whatever. Now, it's a sub menu in the bookmarks menu with an "Open in Tabs" option, and as a folder in the sidebar you can right click for the same option. You could even install the Magpie extension (google it, it's popular) and you can download those <cough>media files</cough> for perusal at your own pace.
Example I want to look up Fight Club I can be in captor and do the following ALL ON THE k/B
Control N (new tab - autmatically moves my cursor to the address line for typing)
Ctrl-T, Ctrl-L (Open Location) does that. Not too much longer.
type in "imdb fight club" (hit enter)
I agree, I'm betting FF has this somewhere. I know they mentioned a Keywords thing in the Why page, probably a good place to start looking.
wait
Hopefully with FF, you can skip this step. Even on dialup (like me), it's pretty snappy.

Plug: AbiWord (free word processor for windows, linux, mac os x, you name it) www.abisource.com
Leave Word and never look back.
Disclaimer: I help out with light work for AbiWord sometimes.
AbiWord? www.abisource.com
Just a word processor. Powerful, but not more than you need.
disclaimer: I help out with qa and art a bit.

Wait a minute, where's Natalie Portman and the Hot Grits? Jeepers, the nerve... :)

AbiWord does (wordcount dialog is non-modal, leave it open while you type), and it even runs on Mac OS X now!
(disclaimer: I help out a bit with QA and art.)

Please mod parent up --- He's a good guy!

GnomeDB Mergeant ?
GnomeDB Mergeant ?
AbiWord Word Processor and Gnumeric Spreadsheet. Fast, functional, non-bloated. (Disclosure: I help out with these projects but have used the competition.)
Google for Divifund in a while (new name, website, release) and you'll find a personal budgeting tool for Linux (*nix - Python and GTK+) and Windows.
Disclosure: I help with the development and marketing.

Sure can! Right-click the taskbar, choose Properties. In the Taskbar tab (should be the first one), uncheck "Group Similar Taskbar Buttons".
:)
If you really want it to be nice like 2k, under Start, Settings, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services, disable the Themes service.
The computer serves me, too, but I'm paranoid w.r.t. my bookmarks and things like that.
