If she was going to decieve, she should have at least made a half-assed attempt at it and pulled the spark plugs, drained the water from the cylinders, etc. And then she could explain why the connecting rods are bent and there is water in the oil... :)

As a holder of a concealed weapons permit, I think you would find those who "pack heat" legally (with a permit), are among the safest and most well-trained people with firearms. I would be thankfull if I was not carrying and was in a place that was robbed or something else, and there was someone with a concealed carry permit and handgun to protect the rest of the citizens.

It is those who carry weapons illegally that are the problem. Most people I know who carry leagally are well trained and go to the range often to hone their skills. And NO ONE I know who carries a handgun WANTS to use it.

I agree. While there will always be a need for more computing horsepower, consumer PC purchases in the near future will be largely based on size, style, and noise, and processor horsepower will be a secondary concern.

It is similar to the muscle car days of the 1960's and 70's - everyone was wanting more power, more speed. They got what they wanted, but there was a sacrifice of handling, fuel consumption, etc. Then we saw a shift in the 80's and 90's to the econoboxes. Now for many consumers, the look at styling and comfort first, and engine size later. And even our big engines are much more reliable, clean, and efficient that their 70's counterparts.

You can't smoke the tires on the WRX because it doesn't have enough horsepower. Please. Normal every-day street tires don't have very much grip to begin with. And at it's claimed ~270HP, this still is not enough power to spin the tires for a few blocks.

Not to mention the power delivery of these engines is much more in the high RPMs, where the older big displacement V8's have much more power in the low end, which will help "off the line".

The WRX has much more power and pep than other cars in it's class, but it is not a muscle car. It does handle quite well, though. Handling is much better than the muscle cars of yesteryear.

Yes, european cars tend to be this way. I once accidentally put a few gallons of diesel in my friend's old 70's BMW. He has claimed it never ran right after that. I am not sure if I believe him. :) The diesel was heavily diluted with gas.

Either way, the diesel nozzle will not fit on American or Japanese made cars, as it is too big. Euro cars, however, it seems anything will fit in there.

I wonder if a car like this was actually on the market if there would be a popular aftermarket hood mod. Basically you would cut the hood open with a plasma cutter or cutting wheel, then install an aftermarket-made hood with the accompanying brackets and accessories.

I mean really, how can they keep the front body closed to everyone except volvo mechanics? a new weird-shaped bolt that requires a special (expensive) volvo tool (this is common motorcycles)? or would it be more complex, perhaps something that would have to be validated with the onboard computer before it would allow the hood to be opened? maybe a mixture of both is my guess.

Stream just didn't have good training (too much money... if their employees weren't on the phone, they weren't making money).

That's interesting. I worked for a company that outsourced to stream (beaverton, or). You guys were tier 1 basically, and we handeled the calls that Stream couldn't solve. As the article mentioned, I found a lot of punters that just wanted to dump the customer on to me, but I would largely refuse if they had not done there were. After a while I began to recognize the major punters who just didn't care (Terry, I am looking at you, wherever you are).

I was hard to blaim the lowly stream employees though, I knew they were graded heavily on call time (we were not), and I knew they were making crap wages. To them it was just a paycheck.

Nothin has changed. The company I used to work for lost Stream and outsourced to another company outside the US, which I hear is even worse (but cheaper).

Here where I live, much like you, we need something more than a car. I prefer trucks, since I haul and tow things, but SUVs are great too for the mountain driving and carrying more passengers.

I guess I am just sick of people hating the SUV, while excluding the other options. SUVs are a very good all-around vehicle, and, yes this may be a surprise to slashdotters, but some of us don't live in florida, and yes, it actually snows a lot, and yes we do go offroad.
