While Washington state may be a nice place to live, the infestation of west-coast liberals will be the downfall of Microsoft. Enter the AFL-CIO... Hello corruption and pricing your labor out of the world market.
BMC recently bought Remedy. Remedy ARS is a helpdesk package. It might work ok for a small windows only shop, but it totally sucks for us.
The multi-platform support comes through a horrid mixture of mangled HTML, javascript, and java applets -- ALL ON THE SAME PAGE!! It doesn't work right on netscape/mozilla browsers. They browser sniff and send different code based on your user agent so bugs can't be reproduced between myself (on linux) and users (on windows).
Their main website (www.remedy.com) is a trojan horse. It looks good, but the "supportweb" site is severly confusing and broken. Document searches go to these strange java applet embedded tables that forward you on to PDF files. (and I don't mind PDFs)
We can't even download product updates if we're not using a windows or solaris desktop. This is because updates are not directly available. You have to download a downloader applet that will perform the (HTTP-based) download for you!
The only reason that I created a slashdot account was that I saw/. credentials being used for a similar service. This was back in the days when people around here had ambition.
2003 was a sad year in music if you listen to the radio or M-Viacom-TV. Pretty much all they played was blink 182-esque pussy punk.
There is one exception to the rule that got almost no airplay...Chimaira's Impossiblity of Reason. Look it up on Amazon or your favorite site. Truly an amazing metal album.
That regressive argument is the biggest crock of bullcrap ever uttered.
Say that we have a flat tax of 10% and imagine a rich and a poor person who both need a car.
The poor person buys a nice reliable used Civic for $5k. The rich guy buys a new $120k Mercedes SL class to blend in at the country club.
The poor person is taxed $500 for his car. However the rich guy gets taxed $12,000 for his car. He paid $11,500 more in taxes for his car!! I fail to see the unfairness.
Liberals will whine your ear off about fairness and equality UNTIL you start talking about taxes.
You have to answer that yourself...Don't worry, it's not too hard. First of all, either system will deliver a better picture for a lower price than cable.
Now for the Dish vs DirecTV question...
Step 1: Decide which Dish package and which DirecTV package you would buy. Note that there are alternate places to get music videos (Fuse) and cartoons than MTV & Nick.
Step 2: Compare the prices on those package.
Step 3: Take the difference in monthly cost and multiply it by 12 to find out what your annual price difference really is.
Decide if package1 is worth X dollars more than package2. People usually base their answer on how big of a role TV plays in their life and how much they watch it.
that the supplier uplevel of them (content originators) must be doing something.
Please don't presume to tell me how... a satellite broadcast or a video codec works!
While it's true that Dish is a MPEG2 service, the tech on the phone wasn't 100% bullshiting. A few years ago I was at my friend's house watching the WWF on TNN (now a viacom channel!!). It was pixelated and blocky. We saw the compression artifacts and even blackouts and redraws. The thing is, my friend had standard analog Cox cable!! It was TNN (or Cox) fucking up before the content hit the cable.

I guess, perversely, this is good news for Linux.
Slashdot is running a novell ad with an ugly naked man. It looks like Novell hired one of the guys from Lemon Party.
I also got a flyer in my office mail with a 55yo man hugging a 30yo black man.
Nobody is going to buy linux from this blatently homosexual ad campain.
A voice of sanity on slashdot. I knew it was a slow day.
Totally gay.
Any information found out about Kerry will flip-flop several more times before election day.
Any SmallTalk developers?
Any Messaging fans?

DIE REMEDY DIE!
Finally the FCC does The Right Thing(TM).
And it's rude jerks like this who keep regular people away from BSD.
It seems that socialism isn't a perfect system after all.
Since America is the leader of the world, it wouldn't hurt for 3rd worlders to take a lesson.
And since their country's technology is behind colonial America, they might learn some good tricks from the game itself!
Grandpa's point is that the previous poster was being a pedantic fucktard while pretending not to know what X-Windows is.

Because that would be a fine setup for a few vi sessions and gcc.

Americans would birth a bovine if any politician suggested a 22% sales tax.
If the company is willing to fund Jesse Jackson, they sure don't need my dollars.
Microsoft might learn the hard way what happens when you piss off Rumsfeld.
Or the Cartoon Network?
I call your troll. There is a ton of programming for children still available on Dish.

MTV pulled and money back in my pocket is exactly what I wanted. Fuse is 100 times better than MTV/MTV2 anyway.
I too support Dish networks. Fuse blows MTV away!! And if it keeps the bill low, I say fuck viacom.
uhhh...you're confusing the multi-year package reported price with viacom's "annual" rate increase.
For example, 7% for 6 years is a 42% rate increase.
