I'd like to see a REAL color photograph at some point and not something they recolored after...
and real video footage as opposed to footage put together from still images
This wont go far...
Their answer: "You should have gotten better grades to begin with"
Hell even good grades don't guarantee a job
This person will fit right in with the image a lot of Americans have of "Sue everyone"...and yes its not everyone by any means but most of the weird suing going on seems to be in the US. I hope the unemployed bum is the one paying for all the legal fees and not the government (your pockets). If the government helps foot the bill I would sue her for wasting tax payer money.
Their lost revenue isnt some cheap cammed version of a movie here...it's because more people than ever before have big screen televions at home. DVD is also to blame...the quality is just better than ever before at home and people have more reason to either rent or buy a movie. The novelty of watching it on a big screen has worn off to some point. What they need to do is give people more incentive to go see it while it is still at the movie theatre. Perhaps a voucher where you get a discount if you buy the movie on DVD later...or perhaps try and make more movies people want to watch. There is a reason why there is a lot more direct to DVD movies than ever before. Movie theatres are going to become a novelty someday and will simply complement simultaneous release on DVD of movies. It's up to the industry to wake up and learn this sooner rather than later. Look at the music industry...they lost more revenues than they could have by trying to fight digital music downloads rather than embrace it. It is nice to see that the video game industry seems to have learned from all of this by letting people download video games on their consoles and letting amateur gave developer in on the revenue pie (360, PS3, and wii all allow you to download games).
One thing's for sure though let's hope they never go entirely digital...it is nice to own a movie you can see on your shelf...the same applies to video games
The only real time i go see movies at the movie theatres is in the first week or two otherwise i wait until the movie comes out on DVD...them pushing it back a week or two will probably mean that i wont be going to see the movies at all...and i'm sure i'm not the only one to think that way. Not because i wont watch something a week or two after it is open but it would piss me off that i cant watch them on opening day like i should be...hell maybe it would piss me off enough to download a copy of that said movie just to prove a point. And yes i go fairly often enough (I'm planning to go see 2 movies in the next 3 weeks which i'm sure is above average).
If they want to find a solution for this let them think of one without pissing off the customers who do pay to watch it in the theatres as opposed to the "few" who pirate the movies. Here's a creative solution....if someone gets caught add their "mug" to a wanted list that they display on the walls of the movie theatres...if someone reports that they saw one of those guys at the movie theatre the guy gets a free movie ticket for reporting the guy and this at least will make it harder for them to keep sending the same people over and over again...and at the very least will add to the expense that it takes to operate...
Another option is if you notice the guy beside you has such a camera the movie theatre should reward you for leaving the movie to talk to them to tell them about it in a way that the guy wont know it was you who told on him...
Because of this I wont be buying anything from them anytime soon (they are called "The Source" here in Canada). Oh wait...because of their prices I don't buy from them anyways...being so inpersonal with their employees makes you wonder just what kind of level of service they can actually provide to a customer once he's paid for something
How hard is it to actually tell someone in person that he/she is being let go? Yes it's not a given but is a much better method than emailing someone.
Loved the game but finished it in no time...thank god there is replay value...but i'm not going to complain I miss the 2D platformers and that's a reason i dont buy games like i used to...to me the 3D games are mostly the same crap over and over again
...and suddenly we have to pay to be able to fast forward through recordings of shows we already paid for the "privilege" to watch? It wouldn't be as big a deal if there was actually more worth watching out there
Some people prefer more money and some people prefer something more fun...keeping in mind of course that you still have to be able to afford to live.
Personally I look at it this way...if you don't work overtime all the time then your job is the 2nd place you spend the most time at...personally i prefer enjoying what i'm doing (especially spending 40+ hours a week doing it) otherwise i don't feel its worth it...life is short and if your lucky enough to enjoy what you do your ahead of a lot of other people
Having said that it really depends whats more important to you but the fact that your even asking this question tells me that money doesnt drive you and thats great...I think you might have already made your decision...its just that your being smart about it and why shouldn't you be...going from a job where your comfortable to any other job there is some risk involved. think of the pros and cons of working at each job and then list in order of whats more important to you to least important and make a decision from it...
Consumers are not going to go for this new format. Do they honestly expect the general consumer to get rid of their DVD players so soon? I believe this is an example of a technology that is out too early and by too early I mean at least 10 years too early. The only niche market I can see this succeeding is on the computer side (and gaming consoles).
Most people have finally moved over to DVD...heck some have not...no way I can see them moving over to HD-DVD so soon.
I usually buy new technologies but unless the formats are settled and they give us coupons to exchange existing DVDs over I wont even contemplate moving over...
I used to own 600+ VHS movies...when DVD came out it made sense to sell them off and move over to DVD...I have over 600+ DVDs...they can kiss my you-know-what if they think i'm moving over to HD-DVD (or Blue-Ray).
And yes I do have an HD-Television and I realise what I'm missing but on the other hand DVDs are here to stay for at least another 10 years.
I don't even see where this is newsworthy.
The guys sold modded xbox's....that's legal...
They sold them with a larger hard drive...legal again...
They included 77 pirated games...illegal....
Next....
First of all if you don't want people hearing your private conversations then do them in PRIVATE not at work like this. Odds are your co-worker doesn't want to hear it and might even find it distracting and annoying to begin with as he/she is actually doing WORK at WORK. Who would have believed?
This thing makes it even more annoying and believe me I would first warn and then report someone using such a thing.
There are tons of shows I have bought season sets for that i only learned about by trying them through P2P networks. By doing this Warner is not only making money off of advertising but they are enticing customers like me to try out shows and buy season sets on dvd if they like them. I was never and I mean NEVER going to pay 99 cents to try out a new show...they get enough of my money when i do buy the season sets.
I hope the other studios follow suit and this is not just a temporary thing for Warner...I Know i'll be trying even more shows and unfortunately will be that much poorer from it;)
In general any contest within Canada usually exclude Quebec. I'm unsure what the reasons are but I believe it has something to do with anything that can be won and their different rules
It should be something that's freely available as part of whatever website you buy your music on...I highly doubt they would get enough revenues from Music Fans...if they really want this to fly they are better off making sure they own all pattents to it and sell companies like amazon the right to use their technology...
Some of the best innovation out there is from a startup coming out of nowhere...I think this will take away some of the innovation that might otherwise come out of it...
Just Microsoft trying to have more control over everything and trying to ensure their system is that much harder to mod..of course that will just be a matter of time like always
Interesting i didn't realise this was Bill's last written software. This is actually the first source code I ever looked at and modified and it is the reason why I started to love programming and eventually went to College and ended up in the industry. Who would have thought I would owe Gates so much:)
They are going to lose on possible revenue here. I've got at least 22 seasons of several tv shows that i never would have picked up had i not downloaded the first couple episodes of each show off P2P networks..that comes out to at least 500.00CAD a year. I sure hope they smarten up and at least share the first couple episodes of a show so I can continue to test out new shows otherwise they will simply lose out on my business anyways.
on a few things related to the DS. First of all why did he "forget" to mention the backwards compatibility of the DS with GBA games? That alone brings 2000+ games to the DS's library. A definite plus that the PSP does not have. Another thing, although the DS does not support MP3 playback, movie playback, picture viewing, etc out of the box you can purchase an adapter (the SuperCard) for 40$ US that allows you to plug in a CF card which allows you to watch movies, play mp3s, view images, and whatever else developers can think of. On top of that the adapter can play homebrew NES, Sega Master System, and GBA games as well as other things. And this is only the SuperCard GBA Version...wait until the NDS version comes out! With the touchscreen there i wouldnt be surprised if there was a Linux project out there somewhere
People rely too much on spellcheckers these days...
I believe he meant to say "You may recall"....
Or maybe "You make the call"...
Or maybe...
As for the google groups thing, I've seen far worst interfaces and don't have a problem with it.

lol. ya...3GB wouldnt go far :)
All prices in Canadian $$$ Buy 2 of these to fit a total of 8 SATA drives: http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=021484&cid=516.690 (289.98 + taxes) Buy 8 1.5TB Drives: http://www.canadacomputers.com/index.php?do=ShowProduct&cmd=pd&pid=019453&cid=HD.443.877 (1119.92 + taxes) Total: 1409.90 + taxes for 2 external SATA enclosures & 12TB of disk space. Setup takes less than 1 hour. You can always just start with 3GB + 1 enclosure for a total of aprox 450.00 to begin with and keep adding on to it as drive prices go down and as you need disk space...you will save even more that way
In my case it would increase my risk
I mean who the heck would pirate the previews themselves?
What's the point of pulling the previews if what is apparently pirated is the movie itself? Without the previews they will lose revenues....

piratebay probably does but honestly if you want to see more 2d mario platformers you should go out and spend the 40 bucks to own it legaly
