    Do it the "right" way. Use the Secure Erase command added to the ATA and SCSI interface specs. http://cmrr.ucsd.edu/people/Hughes/SecureErase.shtml. Funded by the NSA until recently.

    The only effective change to security since 9/11 happened the moment the world learned of it. Never again will the passengers of a plane allow it to be turned into a guided missile. If I have to tell my children that only mommy, daddy, their doctor, and oh yes, any government goon who flashes a badge can touch and rub their privates (and if you tell the government goon 'no' he'll sue and there goes your college fund) then we've destroyed our country far more effective than any act of terrorism could.

    Come back in 18 years or so when you have a firm grounding in the real world and how the legal system works.

    The U.S. legal system can be described as many things, but certainly not as having a firm grounding in reality.

    As others have already noted, the rovers are operating well past their mission time and could fail at any minute. There is an unknown quantity of time left to have the rover do whatever science it can.

    Also, it costs a great deal of money to keep a mission like this going. The longer the rover is playing in the sand without doing anything of value, the more money is wasted. NASA's budget is thin enough as it is. I guess they could always abandon that particular rover, but I don't think anyone wants that.

    A better way is to go to the command prompt and type in "shutdown -a". It will abort the current shutdown request and allow you to continue your updates.

    i don't think it is (or should not be) illegal to use it (except if you do something illegal with the encoded files afterwards like distribution on the internet)

    Its STILL should not be illegal to use it even if your intentions are to distribute the song illegaly. The distribution is the crime and always has been. It would still be illegal even if you distributed the song without stripping the DRM.

    Its been awhile, but I remember a few stories on slashdot about the RIAA going after used CD stores. They wanted a percentage of the sale price for each CD. Naturally they would want a percentage of the money the students got back at the end of the term.

    If you don't like whats on TV, change the channel. No one is making you watch that channel. Your spam and drug trafficing arguments are just plain silly. You wish to participate in slashdot, fine. Email Spam and neighborhood crimes happen TO you. You don't get a choice. By the way, to try and be helpfull, you can filter out SCO articles by going to your prefrences and filtering Caldera articles. It really does help on those days when you really cant stand another SCO article.
