Yup. Google is truly perceived as a "do no evil" company.
Lets rephrase what you said :
1. First and foremost, OSes are entirely market-driven. If Microsoft's Windows simply didn't work, the OS would either cost far less, or cease to exist entirely. That Microsoft revenue consistently improves quarter over quarter over quarter is testament to the notion that this OS is fundamentally perceived to be a valuable service by the customers.
I am by no means a Slashdot Windows basher, but one can see how much your opinion of Google and Adword is not an argument... Its a normal reaction influenced by the good folks Google's marketing departement.

Because the same talented people waste their time working for antivirus software maker.
The same Canada that just voted their Congress out of office?
Its sad when someone think he has such good points about a subject and proceed to look like an ass at the first sentence he says.
The same Canada that almost killed a friend of mine whose plane was grounded on 9/11, got a stomach flu and almost died in a Canadian hospital while he waited THREE DAYS for a doctor to see him?
I find that very unlikely. Last winter I had a hiccup that lasted 3 days non-stop. Growing tired of it, I went to a walk-in clinic, and got examined within the hour. For a hiccup.
I pray I am never doing business in Canada when I get ill.
I like to see people replying to a post after reading the name subject line and then express an opinion that 1) Everyone knows and no one would argue with and 2) Has pretty much nothing to do with the article beside a easy pun.
"SpyMon will allow you to watch other people's computers as they use them. You see all keys pressed as they are pressed and you can even view windows and webcams!"
It doesn't take a genius to classify this application as a spyware when the people doing it call it a software for spying.
They do for some parole criminals. I mean, Blizzard just assume that everyone wanna cheat. And knowing hardcore MMORPG player, they might not be wrong. Your analogy is not perfect anyway, as you can choose not to play the game if you don't like that policy (or for some asshat statement like the parent poster). But if life was that the police could search you place every other weeks, stopping living might not be an option.
I'm sure that the number of new players they get based on the interest in a cheat free game (or disgust for a concurent game riddled by cheaters) will outstrip the number of people leaving the game because they feel spied upon.
Judging by the web site you link in your profile, i'm surprised you would be against bot detecting software.
Automatic driving will never happen unless the road itself change (with some sort of built in guidance system or something). Everyone has to have an automatic car, or no one can have one. Imagine a nostalgic 2005' SUV driver on a 2025 road where everyone as a car with easy to predict, set behavior.
If I were a shareholder, i'd be scared if I had any part in removing the governement's accounts, when some of those governement officials will be the judges when my case hit the superior court...
Thats about the translation I was taught. Although looking on the net now, the first reply is more accurate (and make my comment useless). I blame the education system!
I find it weird that the US always objected to stem cells research. I mean they have the most genome sequencing lab, they should put it to good use (Well i'm sure they already do, with stuff like the Genome Project, but still). If the States were to research, i'm sure stems cells research would progress way faster than it is right now. Its troubling that only California has some sort of bylaw to allow this... Not surprising seeing as it is the capital of plastic surgery (and thats why its troubling. It feels like they aren't really looking for anything else than a cash cow).
And the sadest thing is that it look like US politicians refuse to look into it on nothing else than religious ground.
Sorry to ask that, but why does editors always have to mention OSTG when quoting from their sites? Is there a reason or its just another annoying "Slashdot hates Microsoft" kind of thing?
Yeah... Did you read the forums posts on the so called "psp-dev" sites? People are asking when will the loaders enable them to load UMD images. Thats all they ask. Very little people actually code anything "homebrew" beside porting emulators (and even that is half assed most of the time).
I'm sure Sony read those forums and it does play a big part in not letting people run unsigned code.
I have to agree too (sorry I don't have any mod point). Ubuntu is the only reason I decided to (and I know this is bad and blah blah) stop using pirate version of Windows. I still use Windows, but only OEM copies that came with my Laptop.
My 2 desktops are using Ubuntu and even my girlfriend loves it.
I mean I am programmer by trade, but I don't have interest being a hardcore linux guru. Ubuntu detected everything, from my wireless kb/mouse to the USB key I use to do backups, the community helped me setup NTFS partition reading quite easily. I installed Netbeans and I was coding withing the hour of installing Ubuntu.
Only thing missing is a useable UI for the Gimp. I hate the thing. Its like a russian whore, it does everything you like but its ugly as hell:( Its the only reason I never tried to install Ubuntu on the laptop, I wanna keep paint shop pro somewhere.
;) yeah the levels could be done before the players comes in. I can't imagine the liability of an environment with the ceiling and the floors are moving. It just to reconfigure the building as you say. In a 1 player game, some ingame reconfiguration might be possible, but not much more.

I pray you never do business in Canada. Period.
He is right... The confirm download/open file thingy is the most annoying/confusing thing in Firefox. It seems to have a mind of his own.

And as you are a Slashdot reader (ie : nerd), bringing tech magazines in bed is probably for more than just reading.
Or they might just have read their webpage.

"And Mr. Spielberg will have the right to develop movies based on the games."
Has anyone in Spielberg entourage told him how popular video game based movie are popular?
He must frequent the same people as The Rock.

But wouldn't that be what he meant by 'support cost'? Cost can be calculated be in time waiting for an answer, even if its free.

They could start by taping all the people who bad mouth me when I snipe in BattleField 2!
I have a very very clever comment to add to that thread, but I forgot my password :(
