    Turn on Large Fonts.

    I hear this all the time with my laptop users at work.

    You can't get any work done in 800x600 anyway. Hell, for much other than Word, 1024x768 stinks too!

    LCD's are great for multiple monitor set ups, your desk doesn't collapse like with CRTs. Then again, your colors don't quite match up either...

    You can download a program to do it, or you can edit the registry:

    Hive: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
    Key: System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout
    Name: Scancode Map
    Data Type: REG_BINARY
    Value: 00000000000000000300000000005BE000005CE000000000

    You will probably need to create this value, as it is not present by default. You may wish to cut and paste the value from this page to guard against typos. A reboot may be necessary for it to take effect. Of course, use caution and frequent backups whenever you edit the Registry.

    When you run CAT5, you will be close to pipes, electrical lines, etc. There's always the potential for danger.

    While I imagine you're right about the qualifications and the illegality...one has to wonder how much of a strict qualification/certification process is necessary to the skill of drilling holes, installing face plates and laying CAT-5 cable...it's not like you can electrocute yourself with CAT-5.

    The part that worries me with how well 2000 works, how many defects do the 9x, XP, and NT versions contain?


    It's not really that 2000 has less bugs, it's how well it handles them. Windows 98 might have more or less bugs, but it crashes way more often.

    Not to mention how much more functionality is included in Windows 2000 than Windows 98.

    Windows 2000 has finally given Microsoft the "five nines" it needs to compete in the business market. (99.999% uptime)

    Tom's Hardware has the latest and greatest Pentium 4 3.2GHz running Quake III at 450 FPS. So this computer is almost 5 times slower than the top of the line, at least as for as OpenGL/Quake/games go.

    Epic MegaGames actually started like this. The two guys that started the company drove semi trucks, and while one guy drove for 8 hours, the other would program, do art, level design, etc.

    Kind of neat, eh?

    Inspired me to write a Tetris clone on our 30 hour drive to Disney World in the family station wagon. I wrote it on paper then actually typed it in at the Hotel. I didn't have a cigarette lighter power inverter back in 1993.

    REMLINE.BAS (removed line #'s from your GW-BASIC/BASICA programs)

    I'm almost embarassed to admit I know that. So many late nights staying up late, typing lines of code in from "MAKE YOUR OWN BASIC GAMES" books.
