I'll second this and say that I learned and implemeneted NAT, firewall techniques, and port knocking all on OpenBSD since 'pf' became available. A pretty weak system can handle a large amount of packets.
I also felt that OpenBSD was not a good desktop platform, however there was an ease of mind knowing my peremiter was protected by OpenBSD. In fact, I'd be curious if there have been more Cisco IOS exploits than default install OpenBSD exploits.
The article is very clear and concise. While BSD was not trivial to install the very first time, it isn't too difficult for those with experience. However even noobs can install OpenBSD with this article.
BTW - A good idea is to install OpenBSD on a dedicated secondary hard disk, such as a 4GB or something that you can find for free now a days. That way you will not have to worry about ruining your partitions on your primary disk, as OpenBSD is a bit scarier with writing to your MBR than, lets say, the GUI for GRUB in the RedHat installer.
It should be of no surprise, especially to investors, that a company like amazon would use the law to their advantage and open A2Z where they did. Bezos (and his cohorts) have made amazon one of the most popular online shopping sites in the world with alliances including cdnow, toys r us, office depot, circuit city, and others. Their stock has been doing very well for a while now.
Lets not forget the best part of online gift certs.. you can buy them the same day you need them, from your work, because you forgot about your 's birthday/anniversery, etc.
Why not spend ten minutes earching for a dell laptop review with fedora core 2 some recent 2.6 kernel release that works just as well and buy it for half the price. Is the 3D nonsense this comes with really worth the added price?
If all of the companies (like EA) who sold CDs (movies, music, video games) had the same sort of support that Disney movies have (disc replacement program), would there still be a justification for this sort of program?
I haven't even bothered to use iTunes or any other service that sells music online. I thought I'd play with mp3.com, since they have a pretty nice section of eletronic music. It turns out they give you an option to download the music file from various sources, in various formats, including ogg! On top of this, they tell you if the file is DRM'd or not.
I might actually be a customer once the "coming soon..." is replaced with an actual link for purchasing.
This website has a plethora of information regarding the RIAA's current fights, things you can do to fight them, and some anti-RIAA propaganda. Interesting stuff..
Implement a one-time password that expires after X minutes of generating it.
ie - deaf person contacts sprint operator, and proves he or she is deaf by faxing disability papers from the government. They now will have an account with Sprint's TTY service, and before using it, they simply call an 800 number and enter their social security number and PIN number they chose. This will generate a random password they can enter when making a TTY call that will expire 10 minutes after, or maybe after it is used once.
i realize this information can be used by scammers who steal it in whatever way, but it should cut down on the total number of scammers, by quiet a bit too.
I tell people I have TiVo and recommend they get it. However I forget to tell them I really have a DVR device from Time Warner. I guess I'm advertising for TiVo when I don't even have it. Others who might not know what they have probably do the same.
Why not get Knoppix or one of the many LiveCD distributions that allow you to use ethereal without the need to install Linux. Then your WindowsXP problem will not longer be a problem.
The Knoppix release I used last July had support for my wireless NIC (Orinoco) on my laptop, and everything worked great.
Would publishing these vulnerabilities from an anonymous workstation at a public library on a new hotmail account used once posted to a mailing list be just a bit safer than saying "I, JOHN DOE, FOUND THIS PROBLEM, MOREINFO AT JOHNDOE.COM"?
I was required to attend one of these for Sun certification. The total cost was ~$30,000 (they used to call it a SunKey). Do you think anyone who has only a few hundred bucks at the end of the month after rent/food/etc will sign up for that? No.
These places depended on companies to send their people.
Now a days, it looks like most places get a backend rebate from the vendor of the products they send their people to get certified under. After all, if company XXX needs two SE's to sell a product from vendor YYY, vendor YYY will usually give a boatload of cash to cover the costs in sending their two SE's to training, since in the long term, company XXX will sell enough of the product to where vendor YYY will recoop all their money.
toothing with your ear piece! ouch.

I see Microsoft becoming like the OCP corperation on Robocop.
If someone booted his laptop with a Linux LiveCD and started the BSOD screen saver.

use the butterfly theory to explain it.
We'll see it on the 3.0 kernel....maybe.
Yeah Silver... I have an Enterasys RoamAbout 802.11b PCMCIA NIC , which is a rebaged Orinoco Silver.

but for the people who sport tin foil, realize that certain government agencies have had much better mini video cameras for quiet a while...

Go to Harvard, spread FUD, gain support from future investors/business people and hope they support SCO in the future, if SCO is still around.
we can expect gay robots getting dismantled due to prejudice.
