I find it quite strange that innovative phones like this one is still being made for the 2G networks.
Since the market for this phone is business users, and the network coverage for the 3G networks is more than adequate almost everwhere where you will find a concentration of businesses.
In many areas you will find that there are even more than one 3G network provider. With this in mind I find it odd that you will still see so much development on the 2G phones, especially with data intensive devices as this one.
Still, Evans' book falls short of clarifying exactly how Kildall lost out to Gates. He relies primarily on Kildall's memoir, his family, and his friends.
They must have struggled to find the most biased source there was.
The end result is that the Linux kernel has no market value what so ever. The developers won't sell it at the market's price, and the market won't buy it at the developers price.
This is not quite true. The market value is what the market would buy the product for, if it WAS for sale.
Imagine that you have a car, which you for whatever reason don't want to sell at the moment. This doesn't leave your car with "no market value". The market value is still what the market would have bought it for if it was for sale.
How exactly do they plan on jamming one type of call and not another?
As the article says you won't be allowed to interfere with emergency calls outside theaters, and not inside the theater, it makes me think that maybe what it means is that all calls can be blocked inside the theater, but the blocking won't not allowed to be so strong that it will block emergency calls outside the theater.
Interesting since they seem to lack alot of technology up there. Have you seen satellite pictures? Seoul looks like L.A.
Intereting that you use L.A. as an example of how a high tech area looks like.
The first time I went to L.A. I was surprised how low tech the area looked like to me, especially with regards to the electricity and telephone lines blocking the view of the sky and the lack of modern public transport.
The company made a straightened-out version of it for Creative's Zen Touch
It amazes me why they haven't considered making a mouse with this straightened-out version. Scroll wheels for mice would benefit from some development. Mine keeps getting stuck and makes an annoying sound when scrolling
the reason that XP crashes more is that the people who are running it could be partly at fault (ie worms, trojans, poor hardware choices with outdated drivers).
Obviously this could be the case, but since the data wasn't gathered from home users I doubt that the worms, trojnas and spy ware etc. contributed much to the result.
"Americans (or any other alien) *can* work in India, if they're willing to work for about $12k/year."
I hold a Swedish passport and am currently working in the UK. I have actually seriously been considering this - moving to India to work for around $12k/year.
It would be very interesting to know if anyone have had the same thoughts and maybe actually looked for a job over there and know the proceedings?

What if it lands in dogshit?
Then enjoy the great taste! Yum!
Modded as Funny?
Maybe it was hard to make up any standard beowulf or micro$oft jokes with this article. But really, is tasting dog shit funny?
320 x 240 hi resolution
How is this "hi resolution"? My mobile phone has almost got higher resolution.
In Sims 2, you can have your Sims play Sims 1.
This reminds me of Space Quest III where you could make Roger Wilco go to an arcade machine and play the complete Space Quest I game. What happened to "do no evil?"
I am sorry to break your heart, but Google is a profit making company. Have you ever seen a press release from them stating "We do no evil!"?

Would be interesting to hear which one you recommend if I want to try this out!

You lucky BASTARD, all we had was a 486SX-33.
Anyone else but me feel old when they read a comment like this? To me 33Mhz still feels like yesterday, not like some ancient processor speed.
I guess I'm the one getting ancient here.
Google cluter not in here? What do you reckon the performance/size of such cluster could be?
Maybe this will be a call for everyone to switch to PNG.
I'm not sure I'd like to walk with methanol in my pocket.
People walk around with methanol lighters. Never really heard of anyone being so chicken that they can't even carry a lighter.
"While ICANN's far from perfect, I doubt things would be any faster with the UN taking over, slower maybe, but not faster."
I don't think these issues have any need for a fast paced organisation. I would rather prefer a stable, yet slow organasation to handle these issues.
The research has some serious uses too.
It's kind of interesting though that the first priority of use for this technology would be video games.
I guess one could claim that it is because it is still in research but the obvious priority must hopefully be to help paralysed people.
they'll all be more or less redundant, unless the BTX manafacturers somehow make them compatiable, which I doubt is very likely.
And exactly would that be unlikely? Why wouldn't the BTX manufacturers want their motherboards to be compatible with the latest processors?

A million dollars??
Let's get started! Where's that link to Cryptonomicon?
"There is a cash prize of US $100.00 for the winning entry."
Why don't they just make it an Open Source competition?
If it works for code it can work for graphic/logos!
avspille DVD-filmer pa andre operativsystemer enn Microsoft Windows.20
The article mentions that the reason for the code was to play DVDs on operating systems other than "Microsoft Windows.20".
Is this just a typo?
"So China is doing what China usually does when confronted with such dilemmas[...]: It's mounting a campaign, asking the masses for help"
So why didn't China post this in Askslashdot?
