    I have always thought that KDE's early popularity was a combination of its similarity to Windows (look and feel), and the popularity of Knoppix as the first wide-spread live-CD.

    A greenhouse is a more efficient way of heating the air than without. Dont forget that a large portion of solar energy is reflected back off into space. So instead of the greenhouse effect from pollution, we'll just do it the 'natural' way.

    This is right up there with orbiting solar arrays beaming microwave energy to earth. Injecting more energy into the ecosystem than would have reached the earth's surface naturally.

    He is probably located in a wifi-dead spot where singals bouncing off various buildings/objects causes some of them to arrive out of phase and cancel out. By placing the antenna in a pan, the signals are only arriving (mostly) from one direction and the out-of-phase signals are being blocked.

    No magic. Just math. He certainly isnt using the pan as a reflector which then would more accurately 'boost' the signal.

    TV lost to computers for the same reason that digital tape lost to CDs. The ability to watch/listen to what ever you want, whenever you want.

    TV schedules like video and audio tape require watching in a linear fashion, with only a slow FF and RWD function to alter it. CDs, DVDs are slightly better, but computers can jump to any point immediately and give us our multimedia fix at the click of a mouse.

    Years ago, circa Win95, one of our network mounted drives was so slow, that I changed the Volume Name through the Properties to 'Sloth'. At the time I thought this change was only to my local mounting of the drive. A few years later I found Wrath, Gluttony, Envy and Pride quitely holding their place next to Sloth on the network. I had inadvertedly started a naming convention within the company! Never did find the Lust or Greed drives. :(

    Yes, why dont they? There are obviously far more Windows users out there to be affected by antiquated hardware.
