  7. The only brand of criminals the FBI will catch are the stupid ones.

The more intelligent types realize LE focuses on the phones too much and will simply ensure that they do not conduct their business via the devices in question.

They must know this so it begs the question once again: Are they really interested in criminals phones, or the ability to look at anyones phones on demand ?

Though the way LE treats folks these days, we're all pretty much criminals in their eyes.

It did cross my mind that they're simply blowing smoke to cover the fact that they have methods to break into them.

All the acting ensures folks believe they're still secure.

    Just a thought.

  8. To be honest, Law Enforcement and their " kill everyone who doesn't comply with our demands " is an urgent Public Safety Issue.

Encryption, on the other hand, hasn't killed any innocent people as far as I know so I think their priorities are a bit skewed.

    Back on topic:

Encryption, when properly inplemented, does exactly what it's supposed to do. It keeps unauthorized eyes off of private data. Just because you wear a badge doesn't give you the right to spy on everyone.

If our government could be trusted, we wouldn't need such things. However, they've shown us time and time again why they can't be trusted, thus we end up where we are today.

Once you mandate backdoors, the folks that LE is interested in will simply cease utilizing the product and you're right back to square one. ( With the bonus you get to spy on everyone else now, which is likely the true goal anyway. )

Quit being so fucking lazy and actually DO some real police work for a change lest you be known as the Federal Bureau of Incompetence.

That's kind of the reason for the " like " button to begin with. It makes folks feel good about themselves. Happy users are loyal users who will keep coming back and spilling every detail about their life for Facebook and the data vacuum it hides.

If you didn't, well, you screwed up pretty early on unless you're simply making payments on it hoping for the market to exceed what you owe so you can escape.

Instead of being able to put all that free cash into ( pick your favorite investment ), you'll simply keep doing what you always have done. Give all your money to the landlord, apartment or condo owner so they can put it into their favorite investment instead.

So, you keep on renting and marvel at the fact that rent never seems to go down . . . .
