The patents appear to begin expiring this year... I am suspicious. The current drug is very likely a big money-maker, and generic equivalents are usually dramatically cheaper/lower-margin.
Appears someone has already applied for first-to-file exclusivity.
I sympathize with your argument, I really do. Different sized bills would also make counterfeiting more difficult.
However you forget that every bank branch in the country has at least one money counter; how many are there? As an example, Bank of America lists upwards of 6000 branches.
There are something like 400,000 ATMs in the United States as well, how many of those would need modified?
The browser war heated up when Google (and others?) started paying out on ad revenue created by in-browser searches. Apple makes some nice change on Safari. So does the Mozilla Foundation, apparently.
There would be very little competition if there wasn't money to be made.
Sounds like you are experiencing temporary hearing loss.
With my iPod, I lock the maximum volume to 80%, because anything above 80% caused noise and distortion when played through external speakers.
Depending on your PMP of choice, you may be able to set the maximum volume to whatever is tolerable to begin with. For earbuds, I never go above about 20%.
Distortion is bad for speakers and bad for your ears. It always amazes me when people turn up their (stock) car stereos too loud... I can hear the poor speakers dying, can't they??
I'm pretty sure the grandparent was referring to real animals that had been "stuffed" or otherwise preserved, glass eyeballs and all. You are correct that "stuffed" plush toy animals are well outside the uncanny valley.
Many people think preserved animal carcasses are creepy. Some also find realistic paintings (at least those with eyes that "follow" you) unnatural and creepy.
Resistance to increased security comes across as little more than whining. Money talks, as the saying goes, and people are still flying despite sometimes long lines.
Government entrenches itself. The new, increased airport security is almost impossible to remove for a variety of reasons, including budget allocation, bureaucratic fiefdoms, TSA employee job security...
Suppose airport security was reduced, and an attack of some kind happened. Heads would roll, so to speak, and you would be hard-pressed to find a civil servant willing to take that risk.
As much as I don't like Tasers, it makes more sense to have a Taser gun than Taser wristbands. Those wristbands have to either be activated individually by number - not happening in an attack - or all at once - pissing everyone off.
Forget pissing people off. Zapping everyone on the airplane would likely kill passengers, and regularly. Anyone with a heart condition is a potential goner.
The Nord-Ost siege is a solid, recent example of how wrong things can go when hostages and terrorists are treated the same.
Just because no one seems afraid now does not mean they never were. The airline and travel industries were turned on their heads after September 11th because a lot of people were afraid to fly.
The shoeless dance is ridiculous, of course, but do not pretend that government officials acted alone. There were a great many Americans who cried out for stricter security and our representatives responded.
Many would see merit in doing both; honoring the desires of your constituents while also making important decisions that ignore them. There are several reasons why we elect representatives, and protecting the minority from the majority is one of them. Think about the American Civil War and how, at the time, there was little public support for emancipation. True democracy can be a very ugly thing.
You jest, but many people do build their own cars.
Cobra and Lotus 7 replica kits are among the best. These cars are high performance, dwarfing the abilities of factory-build cars at a fraction of the cost. They are definitely not user-friendly. They lack air conditioning, power steering, a quiet ride, longterm reliability... most times they even lack a roof.
The enthusiasts who design and build these kits are definitely out of touch with the average driver.
Feeding everyone in the world is probably a bad idea. We would first need to control population growth. The internet and robotic space exploration are nice consolation prizes.
This is a great reason to look into MVNOs and regional providers. Many, like Virgin Mobile or Suncom, offer month-to-month plans. There are options available!!
I have been trying http://hivereader.com/ part time, while I use Feedly full-time. Hive shows a lot of promise.

As car magazines go, GRM has for years been among the best, and they seem to have thrived where (many) others have folded.

Not true. Senators have a limit of about 15 terms.

Why the ridiculous chrome wheels? Those donkers probably weigh 25lbs each.

A coworker of mine commented that he had a hard time watching the Joker without thinking of Christian Slater...

Seven years is closer to 25 million blinks. Which is about 115 days with our eyes in the process of blinking.
Does this mean that four percent of our lives pass in the blink of an eye?
Another sale point is coverage; if they cannot be replaced, then they cannot go on vacation (at least without interruption), take sick leave, etc.
Aren't there already some very simple means to avoid copyright violations?

Good idea... budgets, levees and migrant workers will keep everyone's mind off of Iraq.
Proper application of willpower.
And some luck.
