No they're not. While Matrix Reloaded was rated R down South (and got to become the most profitable R-rated movie), it was just 14A here. There's a bit of a cultural gap between the acceptance of violence and sexuality between Canada and US. I guess movies get judged more harshly on sexuality down south than here; but here, movies get judged more critically on violence. Especially brutal realistic violence, and not the cartoony Matrix-kind.
Also, remember that these are *provincial* ratings, so they tend to vary. As you can imagine, in the more liberal Quebec, the ratings for sexual content are FAR less strict.
Playstation 2 succeeded because it was released a year before the other systems, along with high-quality third part support from the very beginning.
You have very selective memory. Remember the Dreamcast? That came out way before the PS2. "High-quality third party support from the beginning"? Name one absolutely must-have launch title. The PS2 launch, by comparison to every other console this generation, was an absolute disaster. The must-have games didn't start to come to the system until a year later -- conveniently, just before the GC and XBox launched. But the first year for the PS2 was pretty damned lousy.
If I can't appreciate the company, I can't enjoy their product.
Then I hope you don't have a Gamecube, as neither company (MS, Sony, Nintendo) is a bastion of ethical business. How much was it that Nintendo got fined for price fixing? $150 million?
Anyway, I have them all, so I'm likely going to hell.
Whatever, if you're having fun, you're having fun... but it doesn't take long until you start to realize that using a computer for video games is little more than wanking. And, everyone knows that the energy you use for that is usually better spent elsewhere...;)
Like what? Posting on Slashdot? Good thing you're making the most of your time!
Relying on a dictionary to define "art" is missing the point, as said definition has been and will be debated for ages. It'd be nice if things were that simple, though.
That's not art. That's just a urinal. That's not art. That's just a black square. That's not art. That's just a soup can. That's not art. That's just urine.
Kojima has said previously that he wanted to do work on the GameCube console... and this collaboration is the result of that. PS2 still gets MGS3, though (well, gets it first at least).
I'm pretty sure that GTA "San Andreas" is a much more fictional place than your San Andreas. What kind of GTA game could you possible have in a village of 2000? Every mission is going to be a beer run.
Yes, but they should also tell the consumer about those restrictions. So far, Adobe has said NOTHING about this. If they're going to limit their own software, they better tell people about it -- instead of trying to sneak it in. If I had PS CS and I had payed good money for it, I'd be pissed. Frankly, with this and their eBook bullshit and the "anti-piracy" features in CS, I doubt I'll be buying an Adobe product.
Koei, by the way, makes many games... and is fairly successful at it. It's just, it is a fairly small niche market over here, so not many get localized.
It's seen as a "kiddie system" for a reason, boys.
Why? Because 14 year old males are so insecure that they'd feel "kiddy" playing something like Super Mario, yet have no problems watching Dragon Ball Z or other completely childish crap like that? It's funny how all the "mature" games, the ones that teenagers claim as some sort of claim to their maturity, are the most immature games of them all.
Then again, seasonal events and holidays are the entire point of the game.
Speaking of which, that reminds me: maybe I should visit my town to see what I got for Christmas. Though the downside will be the fact that the damned bitchy rooster will call me out for not visiting for almost a year. Man, my neighbours are going to be pissed.
I dunno about SNES, but they already have a decent NES emulator for the GameCube: think Zelda collection, the Metroid in Metroid Prime, and all those many, many, wonderful games in Animal Crossing (which alone are worth the price of admission). I'm pretty sure they all use the same core engine, and I'm quite confident saying that it was likely built in-house. Now if only they could release a real NES anthology... You hear that Nintendo!?
This is exactly what I thought of too. And my search yielded that same GameSpy article.
Anyway, SEGA is stupid to do this as Data East has TWO similar precedents -- when they tried to sue (and lost) Epyx for copying their look and feel; and when Capcom sued them (and lost!) for Data East copying Street Fighter. I like SEGA and all, but I hope they get laughed out of the court-room for this.
It should be clarified that the article is a discussion with the site's official critics, of which the oldest are barely 30. It's not an issue of finding 40+ year old gamers, of which there are many; it's just an editorial with the game critic's opinions.
This is a Famicom list, not an NES list. Was RC ProAM ever released in Japan? Seeing as it was a Rare game, I'm guessing that it wasn't.
Also, Rad Racer? C'mon. I know it's Squaresoft and all, but it really wasn't *that* great, with or without 3D Glasses (heh). Not top 50 material, for sure.
Aww come on. Did you even play Goonies II? I'm surprised that it actually made the list (especially a Japanese list), but it *is* deserving of that honour. An often overlooked title, IMO.
> hey're a bit stricter than the U.S

1. load int from char array
2. check int against sizeof(yourbuffer)
3. ???
4. PROFIT!!
(yeah, ok, old joke)
They chose not to renew the partnership (which was just a publishing deal in the first place) last year.
Parent said it better than I could have.

Population of San Andreas = 2115

I suggest you pick up Dynasty Tactics (1 or 2).

Either they're idiots, or that's some blatant bullshit right there. And blatant BS is what I'm betting on.
Ahh, the segway... from which George Bush fell. By the time DNF will be finished, President George Bush III will be in office.

So when I say "rent in Ontario" is cheap and "rent in Toronto is not", I am being contradictory since "Toronto" is a subset of "Ontario"?
