Right now Steve Balmer is running around naked, drooling at the mouth and ripping up pictures of Bambi, convinced that they named the beta Deer Park because of him somehow.

-1 what? Flamebait, Offtopic?? And maybe you should come out from behind the curtain so you can have a chance to turn that -1 into a +1!
It seems I'm actually seeing a lot more AC's than normal on this topic for some reason. I wonder why?
FEMA workers on damage control perhaps? I've heard of stranger things.
You must be referring to the parent of my comment because I don't pin anything on Bush.
That'd be inferring he has a clue what's going on around him.
He has a pile of papers to sign every morning, afternoon and evening and the levee cuts were in the stack one day. That's about as involved as Bush is with the levee cuts.
It's "The Man" I blame, whoever or whatever it may be in this particular case.
Although my comment may be "factually wrong", in reality funding for the levee repairs had "dried to a trickle" a year or more before the hurricane, which certainly didn't help matters.
Any way you look at it, such an important project as as levee holding back billions of gallons of water from a city the size of New Orleans should have been funded to the hilt.
"Especially since the bucks responsible for upgrading the levee system were PERSONALLY slashed from the budget and diverted to Iraq - which in itself was a fucking moronic operation."
$250 million was cut from the levee maintenance program, which ended up costing the country $50 billion.
"I just don't see Ant-Man as being very marketable."
How about Ant Man starring Brad Pitt. You think that would raise the films profile?
Actually, if Marvel play their cards right and treat each film with the respect they deserve, make them arts house/actors studio type projects, they could easily start pulling in some big names for the lead roles.
I'm finding it difficult to look at the big splashy memorial banners on the news sites when there are reports of thousands dead in New Orleans in smaller print below it.
I know it's a "celebrity" and all that, but I'm still amazed how we (or the news media) don't have the capacity to magnify the loss of one well known person into the loss of thousands of unknowns, and grieve accordingly.
Bob's musical instruments not only helped create the electronic music genre but also subtly changed many other musical genres.
With the introduction of ever more powerful instruments you'd be hard pressed to turn on the radio and not hear a synthesizer of one form or another in the mix.
There's an interview with Bob here which is also mirrored here
"And they could've easily avoided creating a problem in the first place by just giving people numbered tickets in the order they arrived - then calling them out in order when they were ready to sell."
An even better way would have been a single file line with a barrier leading up to the gate. Put a cop or two every fifty feet or so and the chances of a mob scene basically go away.
Judging by the size of some of the asses I've seen on TV and in photos, it'd have to be a pretty wide line.
Ah well, off to eBay I go. Keywords "ibook" and "virginia"
"It's rather strange that we would have such a tremendous response for the purchase of a laptop computer - and laptop computers that probably have less-than- desirable attributes," said Paul Proto, director of general services for Henrico County. "But I think that people tend to get caught up in the excitement of the event - it almost has an entertainment value."
What's amazing about the fact that people stampede for a $50 laptop that sells on eBay for over $300. I get the feeling Mr. Proto thinks these are toys of some kind. If they could run Windows XP maybe he'd think $50 was a pretty good deal.
Lets see how much their new Dell laptops sell for next year!
"If MS win the patent appeal, they're going to want royalties from Apple. They'll get a lump sum, and a slice of all future sales."
Apparently not.
An excerpt from the Seattle Post Intelligencer:
Regardless of the outcome, Microsoft doesn't intend to try to block Apple from the market, said David Kaefer, business development director for Microsoft's intellectual property and licensing group.
"We have a long-standing practice of licensing things to Apple and licensing Apple's patents to use in our products," Kaefer said. "Our approach is to recognize that, frankly, we're both mutually dependent on the good ideas of one another."

"Would have been so great to have 320x240 mpeg-4 written straight to a drive while we were recording onto MiniDV as well."
I spend a lot of time walking around videoing stuff, and a portable battery powered drive which simply connects to my XL2 via a firewire cable would be an immense time saver!
As it is, I have to record the video from the MiniDV tape into the G5 real-time before I can start doing anything at all.
But he's moving to China, where I doubt Microsoft could get anywhere near him legally, and his new employer is based in Califormis, where Microsofts non-compete is worthless, so what's the problem?
"you can get a computer that will stomp that one into the dirt for a couple of hundred bucks easily."
No way. Robot legs are very expensive, and fitting a pair onto a case would be run into the tens if thousands of dollars.

Keep it underground, cool, classic.
"IAAFMSE (I am a former Microsoft Employee)"
HTFTNA. IBSTUTIFWIRTAFME. (Hey, thanks for the new acronym. I'll be sure to use that in future whenever I'm referring to a former microsoft employee).

"Cravenly, they complied and scampered off"
Anyone who doesn't find this funny should cravenly kiss my ass!
I was halfway through building a lego house next to my computer to make it more secure before I realized it was a typo.
Duh
"100+ Watts"
Wow, that's a lot more than I thought they sucked up. Anyone know what my Dual 2 GHz G5 is using?
This is a very sad day indeed.

Yes, it seems music may get us to the stars after all!
Yeah, being able to send and receive email, go online, read and write text documents and listen to your MP3's at the same time isn't worth $50.
Do you work for the Henrico County School IT department by any chance?

Jeez, those cases totally suck. Give me a G5 any day.
DISCLAIMER: This post is not Flamebait.
What about your porn collection? Is it all "official" too, or do you have some "unnofficial" stuff in there?
Why not go for broke:

This kind of press is more like a "Doom" effect for Microsoft if you ask me!
That gives me an idea for their new slogan - "what next?"
