This is execatly what i've been screaming about...are people actually going to be this dumb! To pay big bucks for a high bandwidth connection and then pay AGAIN for a movie where they STEAL your bandwidth that you payed for?!?!

There are TONS of artists out there that make GOOD money everyday playing in their local venues and touring. I've been in bands since i was 15. Recording producing and duplicating has never been easier than it is to day, and now with the internet distribution is finally approaching the same ease. All of the afore mentioned items are only going to get EASIER!! You can make alot of money selling CD's and shirts for 5-10$ at a show. Not to mention once you start to get a following you get a big cut at the door. All it takes is hard work and desire and you can totaly remove the beuricratic behemoth from the equasion completely.
As soon as people realize that we dont need the outdated media systems we have in place any longer we will all be better off. Sure alot of jobs will go away, but how many more will be created???

well i hate to break it to you, but looking at everything wouldnt make much sense would it? Seeing as how a large majority of components dont need anything but genereic drivers any way. (Ram, HD, montiors ect) I'm sure if apple opened up they would have the participation of most of the hardware vendors looking to grab that extra market share. Mac users way outnumber linux users.

I have a feeling that had slashdot existed during the Flat-round earth period the majority of slashdot posts would criticize and belittle the round earth supporters as being "ignorant, stupid and blindly out of touch". To me science has always been about what hasnt been discovered, not what has been. Its a thin line to walk along using the data of the past to form theories in the present. You have to be flexible enough to change with the newley discovered data and observed phenomenon without becoming so in love with the old theories that you are rigid and narrow minded.
apperently what i heard was right before the scenes you see in the movie he had been in another battle where a Jedi had foce crushed him and it damaged is guts...
or maybe the stink of the movie was overwhelming him...
yeah...i refuse to pay the big media for accsess to mine and others bandwidth which i pay a premium for every month...
now maybe if they had a system in place to discount my cable bill for X MB shared i would consider it...but i'm not about to let them take a free ride on my bandwidth and then CHARGE me for it.

the thing i really disliked about WoW was the lack of any real penalty for death...to me if there is nothing to lose then there is nothing to gain...and a walk back as a ghost just doesnt seem very "scary" to me...

He/she was merely pointing out the true fact that the buisness model is indeed doomed. DRM and the DMCA are just attepmts by big media to avoid doing the hard work required to devise a new buisness model and continue to fleece the ameircan public.
It is their responsibility to adapt and inovate, not ours. If they cant do this then natural selection should trim them away to be replaced by new companies.
Not artists that sound like RIAA backed music, actual bands like Radiohead, the Kaiser Chiefs, Franz Ferdinand, Pink Floyd, Four Tet etc
actually the reason i like Indie rock is because..THANK GOD...it doesnt sound anything like RIAA crap...
granted...there are the ocasional exceptions, ala Radiohead and Jimmy Eat World...but in a nasty generalization...the RIAA sucks
but i wont mind if you keep britney spears, justin timberlake, n'sync, back street boys, j lo, nickleback, ashlee simpson, mariah carey, kelly clarkson, matchbox 20, gwen steffani, shakira, coldplay...well you get the idea...
