Umm I don't think Microsoft ever had a better product for anything but yet they gain hefty numbers the Market Place long before thier product reaches maturity.
IE was gaining a substancial market share before IE 4.0 was released and have you ever looked at IE 3? Compared to netscapes product it was a browser from the dark ages.
Try Searching for Open Exchange... Even Give them the doubt the results arn't tainted... Search for Open Exchange and Linux... Nope results are Tainted!
Old billy has been calling Bugs like this Features for many many years... Why is anyone surprised?!??! But you can bet that all the TCO figures that come out of MS and Its paid lackeys don't include the software and hardware that is required to Secure a Windows Operating system when comparing to a linux platform.

So where is the extra bandwidth going to come from? there are too many people in a 10 mile radius for the bandwidth available with the 802.16/WiMAX?

Try 75Mbps max bandwidth and 30 mile range
Are you one of those people that complain that Cable is slow? a Typical Cable node is vastly smaller than the area that would be covers by a 30 mile radius from the base station and offers close to 50% of the 75Mbs... This range is far too large for densly populated areas for good throughput. 1-2 miles would be sufficient for this ammount of bandwidth.
"breakthrough technology that fundamentally changes the way radio waves are sent and received. More importantly, True MIMO changes the way consumers are able to use wireless products,"
Changes the way Radio Signals are sent and recived eh? Seems to me they are doing it the same way its allways been done... Nice statement... But not as good as the rest... It will change the way I use wireless products?! How... Can I use it to fill my car with gas? What exactally are they talking about... Its still a network device.. How will it change how we network.. Not.
So let me get this right... if it doesn't apear on P2P networks then we will have to wait to listen to it and it wont be in a format we all want?!... and this is a Threat? hmmm.. It had better be on P2P networks soon
What would be interesting to see is Bill Bailing out of MS and starting a new company to compete with MS... See if he could win against the company he "Created"....
"Their lower operating costs effectively will be returned to either the customers who shop there or to the investors who think investing in these kinds of comapnies is good."
Come on... passing savings onto the customer.. never with any big company... they make all these claims and what not. but its all marketing to make more money... What they market will pay for a product is allways the pricing that ends up on the tags... its only bulk discounts that change the price.. never passing on savings.
No but one could upload some cool images to be cut into your lawn... Think Lawn Circles:) Hey if you can make it detailed enough.. You might even be able to make a good buck Mowing Things into peoples Lawns liek Happy Birthday ect.. or pictures (if you can get decent shading down pat...
Could take on a whole new idea..:) could pay for itself in no time....
And the Courts will end up "over turning" this law in the end because they have more power than the law makers do. This is just a massive waste of time...
Well I can see it now... exploits in their AV software to gain access to the OS...
Hmm Theres a thought... Exploit the Software that is meant to protect you from exploits.. On MS could come up with something this crazy... and I am sure once its out alot of people will be looking for the exploits just to make the statement:)
90 days is a joke... It should be years like 3-4 years... This is why we need Archival Backup.... but its just as easy to hop on the net and download a pirated copy than to send away the origonal.
Linux has been working its way into the web serving arena for many years... Its IBM's embrace of linux MS had to start to fight before the battle was lost... It was more a damned if we do and damned if we don't.. But Hey.. We are a marketing megalith thats has proven its unstoppable and can overcome anything anyone tosses our way. So we just have to fight linux with marketing... unfortuneatle they don't realize marketing just won't be enough... They have played the game far too long and people are getting sick of MS's FUD and can much more easily detect FUD when its spewd...
The only thing you will see is a Multi-Tier system where you can get "High-Speed Cable" thats just slightly faster than a dial up for about the same price.. and when tehy start offering that It will probably drive up all the other tiers in price a bit too. the US seems to be atleast 2-3 years behind Canada in Broadband for the most part and thats been the "Rage" for the past 2 years now so I am sure you will start to see it in the some US markets when "Market Saturation" is starting to rear its head..
Patents are there to protect the time spent to engineer and design and develop an idea.. Not just hey this is handy I should spend money to patent it cause everyone will want to do this in the future and they will have to pay me to do it cause there arn't any other ways to do this job... So yes the patent system is broken... Broken beyond repair due to the market place and greed.
There is still real theft.. where someone breaks into your car and steals all of your CD's or what ever media and then distributes them on the net... For that you can't be held liable... or if you drop or lose it... They will never make you liable for anything that shows up on the net...
Well with the number of patents MS is submutting a day I think they are trying to force out linux as being compatible with alot of MS's new services.. I just hope that MS's doesn't attempt to force a patented standard on the windows user base and succeed.. Hopefuly the ball will swing towards the open source standard and MS is forced to drop its patented "Technology".

Yup! Pretty much... Once the High-Speed market saturates its time to attack the people still on dial up for revenue..

Remember that you can patent a method and you can patent something if the reason for it being needed isn't obvious.
Umm... 1 click purchasing on the internet... Downloading information over the internet...
Plug Interfaces that allow automatic installation ect...
Just a few that their use and need is highly obvious that seem to have made it through the process.
Geeze... could make a mint listing wives as unaproved devices :)
