Just looking at the nice list of stroies they are also covering it would apear little to no actual reseach was done on the part of the writer, not to mention interesting content was near 0.. Post it from a diffrent source.. Just looking at the headlines they have makes ya wanna skip any articles they are covering anyway...

    Umm I don't think Microsoft ever had a better product for anything but yet they gain hefty numbers the Market Place long before thier product reaches maturity.

    IE was gaining a substancial market share before IE 4.0 was released and have you ever looked at IE 3? Compared to netscapes product it was a browser from the dark ages.

But you can bet that all the TCO figures that come out of MS and Its paid lackeys don't include the software and hardware that is required to Secure a Windows Operating system when comparing to a linux platform.

    Try 75Mbps max bandwidth and 30 mile range

    Are you one of those people that complain that Cable is slow? a Typical Cable node is vastly smaller than the area that would be covers by a 30 mile radius from the base station and offers close to 50% of the 75Mbs... This range is far too large for densly populated areas for good throughput. 1-2 miles would be sufficient for this ammount of bandwidth.

    Come on... passing savings onto the customer.. never with any big company... they make all these claims and what not. but its all marketing to make more money... What they market will pay for a product is allways the pricing that ends up on the tags... its only bulk discounts that change the price.. never passing on savings.

    90 days is a joke... It should be years like 3-4 years... This is why we need Archival Backup.... but its just as easy to hop on the net and download a pirated copy than to send away the origonal.

    Linux has been working its way into the web serving arena for many years... Its IBM's embrace of linux MS had to start to fight before the battle was lost... It was more a damned if we do and damned if we don't.. But Hey.. We are a marketing megalith thats has proven its unstoppable and can overcome anything anyone tosses our way. So we just have to fight linux with marketing... unfortuneatle they don't realize marketing just won't be enough... They have played the game far too long and people are getting sick of MS's FUD and can much more easily detect FUD when its spewd...

    The only thing you will see is a Multi-Tier system where you can get "High-Speed Cable" thats just slightly faster than a dial up for about the same price.. and when tehy start offering that It will probably drive up all the other tiers in price a bit too. the US seems to be atleast 2-3 years behind Canada in Broadband for the most part and thats been the "Rage" for the past 2 years now so I am sure you will start to see it in the some US markets when "Market Saturation" is starting to rear its head..

    Patents are there to protect the time spent to engineer and design and develop an idea.. Not just hey this is handy I should spend money to patent it cause everyone will want to do this in the future and they will have to pay me to do it cause there arn't any other ways to do this job... So yes the patent system is broken... Broken beyond repair due to the market place and greed.

    Remember that you can patent a method and you can patent something if the reason for it being needed isn't obvious.

    Umm... 1 click purchasing on the internet... Downloading information over the internet...
    Plug Interfaces that allow automatic installation ect...

    Just a few that their use and need is highly obvious that seem to have made it through the process.

    There is still real theft.. where someone breaks into your car and steals all of your CD's or what ever media and then distributes them on the net... For that you can't be held liable... or if you drop or lose it... They will never make you liable for anything that shows up on the net...

    Well with the number of patents MS is submutting a day I think they are trying to force out linux as being compatible with alot of MS's new services.. I just hope that MS's doesn't attempt to force a patented standard on the windows user base and succeed.. Hopefuly the ball will swing towards the open source standard and MS is forced to drop its patented "Technology".
