So if you want to knock off 100 copies of the latest Hootie and the Blowfish album, you're SOL.
Shit, if I wanted to do that, I could just burn 1 copy and do a CD to CD copy from there. No loss of quality. The same playlist 10 times sounds like a way to appease ignorant music execs.
Because its in the contract. You cant a la carte the ESPN channels. You have to have ESPN and EPSN2 in your lower teir of programming. A whole pile of restrictions on where your channel is in the lineup. Thats why the cable co's up your bill every year. Disney can do whatever they please.
For years cable has been villified when they raise rates. It should be the content providers who should be villified for causing the rate increases.
Disney wants to avoid a cable system-like internet? This from the company who is almost completely responsible for your cable bill going up every year (ESPNs fees go up 10-15% every year). I still dont see why. If its open they cant manage to force content upon users. But then again, they'd want to decrease any leverage the cable co's have so they can charge whatever they want.
Yea right, last time I checked my phone company (Sprint) is charging for anon call blocking. So while they (arguably are required to) hook up telemarketers with lots of lines and make money that way, and then turn around and sell you services to avoid them.
I'd take decreased range (5-10 miles) and 100mbit/s thank you very much. Screw that whole "backhaul for 802.11x" crap, you know you'll have end users trying to hook into it. I think it'd be great for universities. One or two WAPs and you're covered. As long as people arent trying to use Kazaa from their psychology class you're OK.
I'll give Steve Jobs and Apple $100 if they make sure MS doesnt get Universal. Maybe even buy an iPod too. Someone ought to get a pledge drive going to help apple combat MS. Hell, MS could pay $10B and still have enough cash to swim.
I can count several developers where I live that offer prewired houses for new construction. Pulte Homes is one I have most experience with. They put in 10 or so network jacks all around the house, run two sets of ethernet cable from the closet to each jack (incase one fails or whatever). So you just stick your CM in there (there are cable and phone line jacks in the closet as well), buy a 8 port broadband router and now most of the jacks in the house are wired for internet. Its really easy for the technologically inclined.
I live in vegas. I will go and gamble sometimes, because it is fun, and I have a chance of winning. I'll play $1 blackjack for a few hours, end $5 up or down, I'll have free alcohol while I'm playing, and I'll be with my friends. I'm not about to go write a check to the casino if I *know* I have no chance of winning. Especially if there was the ability of me to play the game w/o losing money, that is, just play the online game on a server where its not for money. If I know that cheaters are rampant (and there will be if there is money involved), I and most reasonable people wont put money down they know they will lose.
Whats interesting is that this only covers fast forwarding through ads, and not skipping ads entierly (a la Replay TV). So I presume P&G will still want discounted rates no matter how these results turned out.
Also, what I found more interesting was that in their testing, people barely remembered anything. So it makes sense why commercials are getting more annoying, since it will stick in your head longer.
Two senior AOL Time Warner executives said the company was hoping to begin rolling out service within two years.
Hmm.. so I figure that means at least two years. By that time, Tivo should be at series III and hopefully selling their PVRs for $100 cheaper. $200 for 80 hours of recording time would blow away whatever AOL/TW charges for their service (since their service would have so many restrictions).
First, the client has no control over the virus going around, giving them craploads of incoming data. The ISP ought to filter port 1341 (or whatever it was), and then have customers notify them if they need that port opened up. I figure you prolly dont need MS SQL outside of your internal network, so blocking the port at the ISP's level not only sends that data to/dev/null, as well as making the customer more secure.
You cant go above 12x10 on a standards LCD because a stardard single DVI-D link can only supply that much information to the monitor. A dual DVI-D link could provide 1920x1200, but no videocards seem to implement dual DVI.

Between 1997 and 1999, a total of approximately 700,000 G51 series monitors were manufactured for IBM in Malaysia and China by LiteOn Technology International, Inc. Approximately 117,000 monitors that could potentially include this component were shipped worldwide, and about 56,000 were sold in the U.S.
Really, why do they need to keep screwing with the interface. Especially since the 9x style had been around for 5-6 years. I always called WinXP windows for women and small children coz of the colors, design, and functionality. It just keeps getting worse...
Why? Because this year prices will come down. I'm looking at the mitsubishi WS-55511. Three Firewire ports. Three. One cable connections to DVHS VCRs, DVD players, etc. And you can daisy chain. Integrated OTA 8VSB tuner and QAM256 tuner (for in-the-clear digital cable channels).
I thought it was just because Mac users will overpay for anything.
to say "if you overturn recent extensions in copyright law, IRAQ will have more protection from its authors and musicians than AMERICA!!!"

Yes, and its nothing but trouble.. ;)
at least thats what a few friends have said. They burnt a DVD with a sony A500 and the disc played.
but when does version .6 come out? Really, its been forever. At least 0.5 was really nice.

I thought they need to research laser pistols first??

58cm tall? I'm still not seeing how this is going to help. Maybe keep elderly people company, but couldnt do anything for them physically.
The united states bombs anything in iraq before the fighting 'offically' starts
Crap. Does that mean I have to drink 40 times???
(3 dozen cruise missiles, 4 2000lb bombs)

People who buy this item also buy...
Really? I buy clean undewear??? And I always thought it was weird until I heard about this...
Yea, any Rational person who knows what they're doing uses a Clear Case...

No wonder Liteon sells CDRW drives now...

Prices will come down about 300-500 this year.
