Do damages only apply to profit or gross revenue. Last I checked, netflix wasnt making money (profit). So why would walmart make a profit?

Because both levels of management above us develop with us, we do not have any effect of "clueless management", ever. Its a simple fact, they do the ysame job as us, so they know what we can deliver. None of the other management in the company pushes us at all, and stuff gets done anyway, because of the closeness we work with the customers. We code to exactly what they *need*, nothing more, nothing less.

Exactly. I work in a GIS department at a local utility. I write code, my boss writes code, and his boss (the manager of the department) writes code (thouogh not 100% of his time). With 5 GIS programmers, we manage to keep a staff of 25 techs and interns working. Everything flows like clockwork. We all know what our goals for the next 3, 6, and 12 months are. We know where we need to be, and we work hard to figure out what our customers want. No sales, no marketing. Just software that works.

A while ago, some TV channels in the 60s were reassigned to lower numbers to free up spectrum. To me, this seems like the most beneficial way of cleaning up the spectrum. Have ch 2-35 be allocated for TV, and any channel above 35 would need to be renumbered to a lower channel.

Or, start licensing TV station frequencies for other uses. Sell me ch 49+50 in City X and ch 52+53 in City Y, etc, and I'll get some wireless internet going. The problem is you need some sort of tunable Tx/Rx. A good application for SDR.

  10. Maybe not on Apple Wooing Smaller Labels · · Score: 5, Insightful

One of the reasons Apple (I think) is doing so well is that the DEM isnt draconian. With MS/AOLTW/whoever, they have no vertical integration. How do I take a DRM'd WMP or Real Media clip and put it on a portable device like an iPod. Any iTMS competitor needs the following..

    1. The ability to get the same DRM terms as Apple (own the song, burn to CD, etc).
    2. Have a way to listen to it away from the computer (burn to CD, iPod like device, etc).
    3. Same $1/track price.
    4. Large selection.

Leaving out any of these items will doom the company to failure.
