These patent fights are making me dislike Apple and MS more and more. I have never been huge fans, but for them to make it impossible to get the products I desire so I have no choice but to accept their crap alternatives simply won't work. They can't put the cat back in the bag, and by making it harder to get these devices will only make them more aluring.
In short, you will have to pry my android phone from my cold dead hands!
If you are good at what you do, there is no reason to be stuck in a job you do not like. Vacate the job for some guy who has no clue the hell he will have to live with.
If you are good at video games and enjoy them you could make some money playing video games professionally, making walktrhoughs etc!
http://tgn.tv/ is where i started, they have a lot of tips and tricks on how to get started and get more views quickly.
good luck!!!
Most linux programs are small and do a small part. larger apps usually call down to smaller apps. Doesn't this in itself let the os balance the work across multiple processors? It seems that anything that is very intensive (like compiling or video conversion) the apps to make them run across many processors is already done. I have used gcc to compile across 6 diff machines at one point. Transcode uses all available processors. So does folding at home!
The only thing I really think is missing is a software based GLX engine that can use all available cores. perhaps a higher end video card isn't needed for basic 3d anymore.
It bogles the mind why they don't use torrents.
They could even set it up so your ps3 turns on at some time of the night. And downloads the "latest content" over torrents using something like an rss feed. eliminating the need to wait when using the store (for demos). Costs nothing in terms of bandwith. With the number of ps3s sold, and a rather small set of data to distribute (compared to all the data that torrents generate currently), this would be very fast.
It just seems like a no brainer.
I don't know what your past career was.
But taking what you know, about your past career, and merging it with computers might be a viable solution. Ie find out how tech is holding back what you do in your existing job. Or find a way tech can improve it. And then create that solution.
It is tough to do, but would let you marry what you've done with the past to program development and open up many oportunities for you. I did this at my first job, where i replaced a terrible order entry system. It has worked out very well for me.
Get the students involved. Espeically in the gr 8-12. There will undoubedly be a few geeks in every school with an interest in computers. Maybe give extra credit or whatever to have some students admin the network.
When i was in highschool i was one of the admins for a netware network. It worked out well for everyone involved. (I learned lots, the networks worked better than if left to the teacher etc).
Seems far more likely that an economic crisis will drive up the demand for free software. In addition it will increase the number of talented programmers without day jobs who will then end up creating projects or adding to existing projects due to increased free time...
It's not like programmers will stop programming just because they don't have a day job.
Even if you encrypt, there is the thorny issue that you may need to provide your password etc... You can plead the 5th but it may not work. It's still a grey area.
A better solution would be to upload your pictures to your home computer from an internet cafe or hotel etc.
Use a laptop. Even a very very old laptop. And use synergy. you don't even need a laptop with a working display. (As long as you set up with an external monitor).

Ok... i tried to find out who this guy is. Open Document Format editor? I see no reference to him anywhere on the ODf pages. http://www.oasis-open.org/home/index.php. I see nothing on his website that has anything to do with ODF. All I see is MS fanboyism.
This sounds a lot like that other "news" story that was going around where a "open Document format" closes up shop and says the ODF format is no good... and it had nothing to do with ODF just more FUD.
Can anyone see how/why he is the Open Document Format editor?
Learning to drive a car by riding a bicycle.
Sure it's totally different and the bicycle doesn't require you to follow any of the standards but it still gets you somewhere...

For running not running windows? or tax surcharge for running windows?
Software patents shouldn't be patentable in the first place anyhow. It's just math.

I updated to Firefox 3.0.6 and it installed a Yahoo tool bar and menu without me asking!
What about the movie!?

But you can build robots to build the robots, reducing the cost of production, if not the materials that go into the production.

Can you post a how to on how you did this? this sounds like a great project!

Seriously? We're talking about a couple of degrees here. Sounds like a good idea.
I am far more concerned about the long term effects on the genetic diversity of our live stock vs is it healthy to eat.

I didn't even know Pitfall had an end! I'm going to have to play more!
That's all folks. Nothing to see here.
Good thing within the next five years we will never have to go and buy physical media to play a game.
To bad for Walmart.
Try Wario Ware twisted as an example of the gyroscopes Nintendo plans to use on the Revolution controllers.
It's very easy to manipulate and feels very natural, I've passed it around to many people and everyone takes to it almost instantly.
So no, it won't be difficult to use, it will be far easier than conventional controllers.
