I would rather concentrate on building technology and common sense (don't build a city below water level - for example).
Or just the opposite, build a city below sea level...100 feet below sea level. Hurricanes don't do nearly so much damage beneath the waves. That'd be some real innovation in building technology.
/cue Disney crab/Under the sea, under the sea, something something something...
You could make the same argument about other games (some online, some not) with high replay value too.
How many weeks or months have many people spent playing Counterstrike or Q3A or UT2004? The only games I've bought since UT2004 came out were PopCap games for a few friends. Or Civilization I/II/III? Weeks and weeks of my life have disappeared to that trio.
It's not about the monthly fee eating up your game budget. If you're consumed with playing something else, you're not likely to run out and buy a new game.
Wait...wait...I've got a new one...
We take a straight-laced cop, and hold on, get this, we pair him with a fast-talking wise guy for a few days. By the end of the story they learn to respect each other.
Please don't tell anybody my idea, the script isn't quite finished yet.
Ya never see these people trying to reanimate the sabre-tooth tiger....wouldn't that be earnest, thoughtful re-instatement of missing species? Hey! Let's make a dragon!....
Can I get that with a fire-breathing option? I think it'd be great for barbeques.
"We" have never been more concerned with society than with ourselves. Quite a few individuals might have been, but the bulk of "us" just read the paper to see what new technology was coming down the pipe.
And the 50's and 60's were all about getting the newest TV. (Not unlike the current HD mania.)
But the US is plagued with vehicles that get poor gas mileage and on average US citizens drive more miles. The total travel cost is probably about even between the two countries even if we pay less per gallon.
Really both pay about the same for oil. It's just that the UK taxes their petrol a lot more than US taxes their gas.
a)the earth's magnetic field does reverse every so often, b)we're overdue (by a huge margin) and c)we probably would be slightly fucked, because during the flip, we'd have no protection from cosmic and solar radiation.
I would like to be able to power down, pull something like an Atari 2600 cartdrige out, and pop in another with a different processor.
You're under 25 aren't you?
Nobody who actually used an Atari 2600 or Atari computer would ever want to go back to cartridges. The connectors get worn out after repeated use and you wind up playing 'wiggle the slot'. Sure, that sounds great to most Slashdotters, but it's not.

Except by "all" you actually mean "all except a material capable of being formed into miles and miles of superstrong tether".
Material science isn't there yet. Closer than ever before, yes, but not there.
Not so much. But if they change the graphics, they can sell the false hope that usability has improved.

Well for starters they could make it not suck. For EA that would be damn innovative.
Brought peace? *whistling Bright Side of Life*
I can't just go donating my computer time to anybody who comes up with a project.

I know I'm just guessing here, but it's probably because you don't have 6 50-caliber machine guns mounted on your Cessna.
Supposing two seagulls carried it together...

Technology may change rapidly, but people do not.

More importantly he was in one of the Wing Commander games WITH A PORN STAR! Use the Force, Luke.
I'm good. I've got extra tinfoil stockpiled.
Try Gigabyte cards. They have a wide selection of cards with heatsinks/heatpipes only. Not quite the top model, but still fast enough for most.

There are no broads here to answer your question.

I hope so. A little screaming after dark is a lot better than constant whining from some snot-nosed kid without a dad.
Maybe it's just easier to fake it and get paid. You know, the scientific equivalent of prostitution.
IOW, people in power suck. The color of their waving flag is irrelevant.
It's going to run out eventually just like oil. We need to start weening ourselves off of this solar dependency right now!
But if he's lying about lying, he's . . telling the truth. But he can't be ... because he's . . . lying.
Does not com pu . . . zzt!
(Fascinating.)
