    I love free things too but I'm not under some illusion that everything has to be free or open source. These companies have a right to do as they wish and I have the right to not use or pay for their products which I exactly why there are no computers in my house that have windows in them an all run Linux. Now if there was a commercial *nix alternative to windows that offered better driver support/os support compared to free Linux distros I'd use that system and happily pay for it.

    If I'm doing some pro shoot and have extra equipment having a full size laptop or ultrabook is nothing in extra weight. If I'm out hiking or driving through rural areas or out doing street photography I aint checking my images and pulling out an iPad every time so I can see what it looks like. I pack it up, go home and process the images. I make sure I know how my camera reacts to in different light situations so I don't have to refer to my "pad" every time I take a shot.

    they dont pretend to be a full computer. People who buy them know this isnt a computer replacement for real work,

    BS just look at all the hipster photographers trying to justify using their iPads as some sort of computer like image work flow tool and storage machine, meanwhile buying extra sd cards for dirt cheap gives you 100x more storage capacity then some 64gb tablet.

    It's not the games, it's the company. What good is it that I can play indie games if I have to play them on a console that is the very definition of proprietary? That's why I'm getting an Ouya.

    Its yet to e determined if Ouya will be around long enough and make money. What good is "Open" if there's not enough people to build a market share with it so they company can be profitable and after all it all about profit. I'm pretty sure the average joe/jane don't care as long as the system has content they can consume.

    If so then I don't see a big deal about it even if its not Dell doing the support. If you have to do your own support then well...

    Seriously how many big companies actually even attempted to bring some sort of Linux distro (except for android) toi the market? I personally have no opinion on Dell as a company and the three Dell system that I've bought all worked ok (My Inspirion 1720 is going strong after 6 years of non stop usage) but at least they're trying and putting their resources to semi promote Linux.

    since the kids don't really download except for me I'll just keep a second HD with a clean install of Linux Mint on it (fresh from store HD). if they ever come I'll just plop it in and off I go. SInce my router has no password and I don't keep logs, shitty for them.

This way all Canadians can still download the move and listen to is as an audio book but if if they are brave enough get the pass code to unlock the video. Or better yet a video player that fetches the pass code real time whenever you play the file.

    Apparently you and her don't realize that past the payment they make for her work they don't have to give her anything else. If she wants those stats and the customers say its ok then she can pay for the data or is that not fair? She should be allowed to have it for free and not pay for it.

    I use to go to a local pawn shop twice per week to buy DVD's as for a while they were super cheap around $2.99 each and get a 5th one free. Then all of a sudden just like CD"s the DVD's pretty much disapeared and it was all games and BR's. So now I only go there every few months. I picked up two box sets yesterday but only because they were rare box sets.

    Now for me even though I still downlload lots I'd rather buy the original and rip it. Plus I get a kick out of finding rare films/shows I've forgotten about and at $2.99 I'dd be stupid not not buy something.

    And yes, I do still play my original Wii. I even bought a new game for it this week.

    Yes I still play my old Turbo Grafx 16, SNES, Saturn, 3DO, Jaguar and Dreamcast.
