Not that I have anything against Metroid...but Halo 3 is breaking records before it is even out. Lots of people are interested in it and people submitted the story. If you really cared you could have submitted Metroid stories but you can't even post with a user name. But there really isn't anything all that significant about Metroid other than it finally gives hardcore gamers who own a Wii a reason to dust off their console while they wait for Smash Bros and Galaxies.
Yeah, we all know the Xbox is Microsoft. Gamers (for the most part) don't care. If they make a good console with good games, we will support it. It is not like they have a monopoly on gaming...it takes a lot of guts to try to compete against established competitors like Nintendo and Sony.
Then if you are presenting it in a business environment don't be retarded and just say Ubuntu Linux...if they ask for the version give them the number.
No, at this point, the real challenge will be if the Wii will be able to beat the PS2 in overall sales.
Also, with Blue Dragon and Eternal Sonata coming out this month for the 360...there is plenty to look forward to. What good RPGs are coming out on the Wii?
Parents can't trust a rating system that doesn't even disclose how they come to a particular rating.
Parents are irrelevant to all games that are rated M. Unless you are still breast feeding your 17 year old and telling them that babies come from storks, I think they are old enough to choose what they play. It blows my mind how stupid politicians are these days. I am hoping that this is just something he has to pretend to do to stay in office....even so, I have a lot more respect for people who can hold office without pandering to the morons in their voting base.
I think what you wrote is a load of crap. Pac-man is in a different genre than the games you are talking about. It belongs in the puzzle game category with games like Tetris or even guitar hero. Can you beat all the songs at 100% on the hardest level? I bet you can't. For that genre, you have simple gameplay that gets progressively harder. Comparing this to World of Warcraft and Half-life is silly.
World of Warcraft is based on an RPG. As long as you keep at it, you will progress in this game to the max level. It slowly introduces skills to you so by the time you are max level, it is actually a lot more complex than when you first started out. Also, there is challenge when encountering new raid instances. Of course, most of the strategies are written online before you get a chance...but it is still difficult to implement a strategy with X other people in the group.
Half-life is an FPS...and if you think the game in the beginning is as easy as it is by the end...then maybe you should to replay it. As you play the game, you get much better at it. On a normal difficulty setting, they try to pace the action so you learn at about the same rate the difficulty increases. Try the game at the hardest setting and you get a real challenge. Say you master that...then you move on to multiplayer where the potential challenge has no limit.
Yeah, I have been playing games since the NES days and I know how hard a lot of those games were. But the big change isn't that they have gotten easier, it is that designers have implemented multiple levels of skill so that their game can be enjoyed by the hardcore and the casual alike. If you long for the challenge of old games...play every game on the hardest skill level from the start.
Keep in mind that America was founded on escaping forced religion...not Christianity. Also, you seem to attribute all that is good to God. But if God is responsible for everything, then he does the bas as well. You may say "free will" or "Satan". But if we have free will, then all good comes from us. If there is Satan...that means God isn't all powerful since he wouldn't allow something like that to happen. There is no logic to religion.
Now they just need to hire programmers, artists, story writers, customer service reps, and auditors that monitor the employees and they will have a great game! (kidding...mostly)
This is such a confusing comment. I agree with you on the video game part of your post...but the rest comes off as "bat shit loco" to me. You are basically blaming gun control on women. This is obviously something you care about since the majority of your post focused on that rather than video games. Were you rejected by some girl who thought you were too masculine and now have become bitter?
The whole stereotype of masculinity is a joke anyways. Are you more of a man because you go out blow the crap out of a deer with a shot gun? Are you more of a man because you get in to fights in bars when you are drunk? If women are afraid of a guy like that I say good for them. That has more to do with stupidity than masculinity. There are plenty of male administrators that freak out about stupid things as well. And quite frankly, it seems the lower the IQ of the girl the more likely she is going to be attracted to the "masculine" type. Broad generalization? Of course, but no more than you were doing.
Quite frankly, I trust myself fine with a gun. It's the rest of the world out there having guns that scares the crap out of me.
Not that I am a big fan of the Halo series...I played them and thought they were fine. But something that gets 1 million pre-orders already....I'm sorry, but it must be good to a lot of people.
Umm, what the heck are you talking about? This is like seeing the awesome new engine of a car that has more power and speed than the one previous...and you are saying..."yeah, but what does the body of the car look like?". You are completely missing the point. How the heck do you talk about game play when are showing an engine? There is no game. That is up to whoever is making the game. Yeah, Doom3 was an expensive demo for the engine...we all know that. So don't buy id games.
The only thing the engine should do as far as game play goes is not interfere with the game play. It is up to whoever makes the game to make it interesting/fun. I hope you understand this engine can be licensed to use for other games than Doom and Quake.
Where did I say it was a failure? I am just making a point that if people only care about good games, than the game cube should have sold just as well as the Wii. Only zealots care about Nintendo making a profit and who is "beating" who in handhelds (and also those both being irrelevant to the point). I'd go on about the dumb game cube/xbox comparison but it is also irrelevant. But I will say the Xbox has to be considered a success considering they just wanted market penetration and it was able to outsell (worldwide) an established competitor like Nintendo. The 360 would be considered a success as well if not for the huge mistakes they made in their hardware design.
Then explain the PS2->PS3. The problem is you guys are all talking out of your asses. A large part of the Wii popularity IS the price in comparison to the other choices. Also, they were smart and bundled a game that shows off the features of their new controller. If it was the gameplay, then people would have have bought the game cube just as much as the Wii. Nintendo just decided not to participate in the spec wars and was able to produce something that was much cheaper than their competitors yet still innovate. It has little to do with the games or the game cube would have sold just as well.
Your analogy is terrible. This is more like iPod owners only getting songs off iTunes and not knowing they can pull the songs off their CD's as well. When I bought my PS2, I knew it could play DVDs. I find it surprising that people are ignorant of Bluray. It would be like Wii owners not knowing their console could use Wifi.
Wow...talk about over reacting. Sometimes human meddling does have bad effects. Fine, marine bacteria is generally less harmful to humans. What if this was one that was atypical? What if it wouldn't be a problem if it was reintroduced in to the environment naturally rather than melting it in a lab? Yes, probably everything is fine...but I understand where the summary is coming from.
As far as your nutso rant on global warming. That isn't even mentioned in the summary and you are jumping in before any comments about it were even made. You are just hyper-sensitive about the issue (maybe you listen to too much Dennis Miller?). The ice is melting...for whatever reason...so I don't really see why that matters.
As far as the global warming deniers go, that's just stupid. Fine, don't believe in global warming. But blaming your non-belief in global warming because a lot of people are passionate about it right now...that's just daft. It's like you are saying, "Don't care about global warming so much! It is making other people not believe in global warming!". Uh, ok. Anything that gets people caring about protecting the environment is good. According to you, they are too stupid to understand an intelligent debate on the topic...so why don't we just encourage them to conserve and attempt to reduce their impact on the world? If the cost is annoying big business, top polluters, and some people on web forums, I have no problem paying that price.
Yeah, but eve-online has no single player content and is probably the more boring excel spreadsheet game you could possibly play. PvP is non-consensual, which is fine, but that just means you sit all day and gate camps blowing up shuttles that try to fly through. The only way to get interesting PvP is to devote your life to that game. At least with WoW, you can play single player content and have more structured and interesting PvP. I don't know why Eve people try to advertise the game. It is already too laggy to support the number of people they have since they refuse to start another shard.
Last time I checked, WoW has non-consensual PvP. At least on the "PvP" servers. And I don't know how you get what type of player this guy is just because he points out the obvious...having Oblivion style thieves in MMORPGs would be really annoying. Sure, some people would like it...but for people like that you have Eve.
These posts always amuse me just because I have played other MMORPGs. The amount of time to level in WoW is tiny compared to other games. That is why it is popular with casuals. I have done raiding in end game guilds and while some of it is fun and interesting, it is mostly a pain in the rear. Honestly, I have the most fun leveling my characters. So much that once I hit the max level I generally cancel my subscription after doing a little raiding. Basically, what you want is a game that caters to you. I think the subscription numbers says it all...it is easy enough to level. Only when you have the "the game begins at 70" mentality do you start complaining. It really doesn't...enjoy the ride. On the other side, I can see how grinding many characters to 70 would be annoying since you have already seen the content...but at that point, you have lots of time. With your time schedule, even when you get to 70 you don't have enough time to raid, so I don't understand what you are complaining about. Once you are done leveling you won't have much to do that doesn't require a much larger time commitment.
Um, that isn't what he was saying. The majority of people enjoy sex...they don't believe sex is the most important part of life. It is just a fun part. This guy was trying to belittle people for reproducing. I am sorry...that is an extreme view and not even logical.
You simply can't stop determined crazy people.
Yes, particularly ones we elect President.

Is DQ really going to be an RPG? It seemed like some weird action title where you slash your Wii-mote to attack slimes.
When did it rise the first time?
No, at this point, the real challenge will be if the Wii will be able to beat the PS2 in overall sales.

I have my Masters in Computer Science and I am still not sure I chose the right major.
My definition of intelligent: an individual that knows the difference between lose and loose ;)

Ok, then explain why the Gamecube sold so poorly?
