Quite frankly, you shouldn't tell other people what they should enjoy. It's fine that you don't enjoy sex, but there is nothing wrong with others who enjoy it a lot. People can expand and enhance their minds and enjoy sex. These aren't mutually exclusive. You seem to want to belittle people who reproduce. I find that kind of sad. I don't think you need to reproduce...I just don't think you should judge people who do. (spoken from someone who is 29 and doesn't have kids)
Shouldn't be a problem if you are saving before you had your kids. Actually, you should have more money as long as you weren't wasteful and invested in the stock market. Retirement age is generally around 62 these days so you will still be in your prime earning years. Maybe the grass is always greener...
You are confusing gaming with the anonymity of the Internet. You don't need a game to be involved to see antisocial behavior over the 'Net. Clearly you just have a personal bias that isn't based in logic.
No, a blind person can't drive because he can not see. How does that relate to gaming and maturity. Sight is fundamental to driving. How is immaturity fundamental to gaming? Fact is...gaming has permeated to every echelon of our social fabric. Rich, poor, well educated, and high school drop outs can all be seen gaming. The fact that you choose not to see this shows your own ignorance and immaturity.
This probably doesn't warrant a law suit...but I am going to go out on limb here despite Apple's rampant support on this site. What moron there decided to not allow you to replace the battery? You have the masters of user interfaces designing something that doesn't allow the user a desired functionality. Yeah, I have an IPod. I got it a long time ago before all the battery fuss where it came out. It is surprising to us who read Slashdot that the guy didn't already know because we talk about it all the time. But when I first got mine years ago, I was clueless as well. If something I am buying has a battery in it that wears out...I should be able to replace that. It is surprising that they don't allow it where a large majority of consumer electronics do (honestly, there are probably more out there, but the IPod is the only one I can think of that did this). So yeah...it's fine to defend a company you love...the lawsuit is dumb. But so is Apple for putting the same stupid design in to the iPhone.
No, I disagree. The original video game generation is around 30. Still fairly young for politics. It will take another decade or two before we are in power. And then we will be afraid of something else that the younguns are in to.
Don't put your piss poor morals on other people. We could all do what you have done: mod our consoles and play games for free. So if everyone was like you the games industry would crash and they would all go out of business leaving games for no one. Your analogy is stupid and unnecessary. It isn't a hard concept to understand what you are doing. We all have opportunity to mod but most of us don['t.
Obviously, you have justified leeching off of society in your mind. But we all can't be leeches like you or society would crumble. Quite frankly, I think you are pathetic. It's one thing to do this sort of thing...it's another to be proud of it. I know this will have no effect on you since you are already so screwed up...but you should be ashamed of yourself.
Since Second Life is a game...and its virtual currency is bought using real currency...and you can gain and lose money by "playing" this game...isn't all of Second Life considered gambling? Shouldn't they just shut down completely?
I know I am stretching it but I am dreaming of a time where I don't see a Second Life article on Slashdot for a whole week.
1. He wasn't comparing it to Europe. Our prices are bad, if what you said is true, Europe's is insane.
2. Materials other than plastic scratch. It is very early in its life...we will have to see how scratch resistant it is.
3. The retail price of the iPhone is not even close to manufacturing costs. People have cracked the thing open and saw that its components aren't worth half what people are paying for it.
4. Japan's market for cell phones is better. They ARE confused what the big deal about the iPhone is because it lacks the features of their phones. Yes, there are some people who go overboard with Japan. This is not one of those cases.
5. Finally, a article that is negative about Apple or iPhone is not an attack on you, your family, or your dog. Try to gain a little objectivity.
If you have 3 of 4 systems...yeah, I'd be trying hard not to spend my money on a 4th as well. Just because some day some game may come to the PC doesn't mean the 360 owners can't be excited. Probably all the games will end up in Gametap some day. Why bother buying consoles at all? (sarcasm)
Obviously you have not played many MMORPGs. Leveling in WoW is extremely fast...even at higher levels. Are you going to keep up with friends that have no lives? Of course not, but a few hours a week will get you somewhere fine if you know what you are doing. The problem is that a lot of people don't understand that the fun is in the journey, not in maxing out your character. If you don't view it as a race (and you shouldn't, you won't win it) and just a game...it is a lot of fun.
And these are the people who would probably be alcoholics or drug addicts otherwise. Given a large enough population playing or doing something, you are going to get addicts. What do you do? Well, you try to help those that are addicted, of course. But you don't blame the thing that they are addicted to...that is their own weakness. Few alcoholics admit they have a problem. I guess I just don't see the difference and that is why I dismiss the people who are freaking out about it. Yeah, there should be places for these people to go (just like any other addiction). But blaming or being worried about the game...that's dumb. Worry about the individual with the problem.
Yes, losing all your stuff is much more friendly to casuals. Huh? I think you are looking UO through rose colored lenses. Back in the day...everything was better!
No one is struggling to "get the Wii". Some people, not "hardcore", just some gamers don't like the Wii. People who are fans of RPGs don't see anything really compelling on the Wii. What's wrong with this? This isn't about getting the Wii...it's about wanting games on the Wii that fit in with what they like. Let the suits and the fanboys celebrate Nintendo's console selling out everywhere. That's great for the people who love the Wii. But that doesn't mean people can't still criticize the system. It seems that people have a short memory of all the stupid and evil things Nintendo has done in the past. I grew up with the Nintendo...I love them. But don't whine about people who actually have the guts to lose karma by saying something that isn't worshiping the Wii.
Well, you are pretty much wrong about everything. Let's break it down.
The plot is more "adult" themed than others in that it is very political. At 9 hours in you haven't even scratched the surface of what is going on. But, I am not going to get in to plot spoilers...this is up to personal taste and I can understand how people might not like it. There is more gray than black and white good and evil. Motivation of characters is pretty obvious though (losing family members, being forced under someone else's rule, etc.).
The gambit system is actually pretty cool. It is like a little programming language you can give each character. So in this game you set up your gambits to deal with the easy fights....you prefer mashing a single button to select fight in the old ones? To each their own. Boss fights are epic...I did one last night that lasted 90 minutes...and I guarantee you that I had to control almost everything in that. So really, if you don't like gambits, don't use them. Duh.
The license grid works perfectly fine. I didn't use a strategy guide because all the stuff that is related (like shields)...get this...they are all grouped next to each other so it is freaking obvious which upgrade path you want to take. One direction for spells, one for techniqs, one for accessories...how much more do they need to spell it out for you. If you are really worried, then go to gamefaqs and look...it isn't a big deal. I am near the end of the game and had no problem specializing my guys all the way to their max...even if you make a mistake along the way...lp comes quickly and you have accessories you can wear to double it.
The most powerful weapon in the game is obtainable in two ways. The way you describe is a way to get it incredibly early in the game. The alternative is to get it later in the game by completing different objectives. What's so wrong with that now?
And I don't know of a single chest that has anything to do with kill chains.
I don't blame you for not liking the game. Just try to be accurate in your criticisms.
It is not about prevention, actually. It is about being able to track who did it after the fact. It is kind of about prevention in that the person responsible is more likely to be caught...and that might prevent some people from doing something like that. But with people willing to kill themselves...tracking them down isn't really going to be a problem. So yeah, it might prevent some ordinary criminals from doing something but not 9/11 style terrorism.
I always hate playing against Ghandi. Usually, he expands quickly and makes friends with everyone...making the only way to be successful is to take him out. Of course, when you attack him, you get attacked by all his friends. I try to kill that peace lover early if I can.
Considering you can't buy the game, I fail to see how this is "Slashvertising". The fact that we can't buy AO games because of the console makers is a big deal. Any gamer should be concerned that we are held to a different standard than other media. Of course, this will eventually get better with time. As the older generation that is scared of video games die off...those of us who grew up with it will take over.
Don't worry...they learned their lesson about naming their products silly things. As hard as people have tried...no one has been able to make fun of the "Wii".
Quite frankly, you shouldn't tell other people what they should enjoy. It's fine that you don't enjoy sex, but there is nothing wrong with others who enjoy it a lot. That's a moot point since the major console makers won't license games on their system that are AO only.
Blah blah blah. Sorry, what you wrote is all BS. I will counter it in one word: iPhone.
Don't put your piss poor morals on other people. We could all do what you have done: mod our consoles and play games for free. Why is this a story? I've seen that message on dozens of games on the computer. So it's a big deal because it's on a console now?
Yes. It's just like Halo. (kidding, kidding)

That's great...and it feeds in to Slashdot group think...but adding cameras around town and monitoring them aren't going to make people revolt.

It may have been boring...but your summary of it was far from accurate.
You are nitpicking something that he is actually sourcing...when your OP just spews out FUD with no source. The sad little life of the anti-fanboy.
