Umm, Gradius isn't a Wii game...as you even noted. Playing a retro game on the Wii doesn't count towards a hardcore game. Many games in the past were designed to be a lot more difficult. We are talking about current games for the Wii...and yeah, they really are focusing on the more casual gamer. Nothing wrong with that...but holding up an SNES game to counter it doesn't work.

Are you kidding? Slashdot is very firmly Nintendo fanboys. This is a site that hates MS but has to give credit to MS for making a good console with great online service. Yeah, the failure rate is unacceptable...and if MS didn't admit it, Slashdot would call them out. But they did admit it and said they would replace them for free for 3 years. That is really standing behind your product.

Slashdot also hates Sony for the various evil things they have done. The difference is while MS appears to be trying to please their consumers, Sony comes off as arrogant and uncaring. They are trying hard to turn that around, but they did a lot of damage already.

Of course, this is Slashdot and most people in the world don't really care about any of this. They just don't see any games that make them want to get a PS3. The Wii and 360 do have some good exclusive games and a cheaper price, thus they are selling better.

I don't understand your logic. Anything can be done on any console easily. MS and Sony could just make a motion sensing controller, easily. And then make Wii like games, easily. Just because someone can do something doesn't mean they will. So it may be an easy way to dismiss a great feature on another console, but quite frankly, it doesn't make any sense.

Mix children with something that the older population hasn't been exposed to and you get an irrational fear. Jack feeds of this fear for his own self glorification.

I honestly doubt Thompson believes what he is fighting for. If he did, I would think he would research it better so that he could actually debate someone intelligent on the topic. Instead of spending all that time, some people would rather just trade with another user the items that they want. They spend money so they don't have to spend the time. It's more like hiring someone to mow your lawn (being a hypocrite here and making an analogy of something that doesn't need one...but by your analogy, maybe you do need this simplified). Why do people blame the game and not the movies? Ignorance? Stupidity? Political "save the children" motives? Those are really your only choices.

If I was the owner of a car that was stolen, I sure would care who stole it and hope they were brought to justice. It doesn't matter where he/she got the idea from. They were the moron that implemented it.

You clearly didn't get the person's point about the roadside bomb. People can just watch the news and see that roadside bombs are a good way to kill American troops.
