I really do want to get a DS, but I've chosen not to because I don't see any release titles that really interest me. Maybe this is because I don't really have anywhere else to play it besides at home?
This really makes me question the viability the PSP will have with the older crowd being their target market. If I'm not home, I'm probably too busy to be playing games. So it has to compete with my PC and consoles.
I'd have to say the DS has a good future ahead of it overall in competition with the PSP imo. I guess like many people I will probably end up with both systems.
I want to get a DS, but I can't get myself to preorder one if I don't know what game will be worth it. I haven't heard of what "the" must have game is yet....so what is it? Mario 64ds looks kinda cool. Metroid doesn't ship til 05. I don't want pokemon.
Way back in the day, FFVII sold me the PS1, Mario64 sold the N64, and gameboy advance sp was great because it still played my favorite game boy games. But I still don't know what to expect on the DS, hm. I'll probably get one anyway:P
It's good, but I'm still not sure if it's great. I've been playing in beta since the last push, so far it has been fun. But... I haven't really seen anything "new" yet.
What I mean is that it's highly polished. What it does, it does great. But it still feels like the same thing (having played most major mmos). It's very solo friendly, and has great group encounters (instanced dungeons).
I'm trying to decide between WoW and EQ2. I never played EQ1, but 2 looks cool. Feel free to invite me to beta if you have a buddy invite:D
Since you're so high up, how hard would it be to just fly all the way from NY to Tokyo in 1 hour or something like that? Some megaconglomorates could actually see the high price as being worth it, if it would allow them to sign a multibillion dollar deal...?
So these kids spend too much time doing one thing or another. Who lets them do that? And instead of taking responsibility the parents treat it like some kind of mental illness and take the kid to a shrink. And does it really help the kid's self esteem when they need to go see a psychiatrist?
It's pretty simple, parents need to take responsibility too.
What amazes me is how it seems like space junk does not cause as many problems as it sounds like it should. What kind of problem could this pose for commercial space tourism?
And if more commercial space programs go into production, it seems like the debris field will grow very rapidly.
I wonder, if it was a nuke I'd assume they'd try make it rather small, since N. Korea doesn't exactly have a large amount of space to do above ground nuke testing does it? So...assuming that, they should be able to make a bigger one? This does not bode well.
I like how I have everything set up in Firefox. All of my favorite extensions, rss feeds, booksmarks, etc. Is there an easy way to back this all up? I'd also like to configure a single install package that install all of the extensions I want. Possibly by saving the extension files in subfolders?
I haven't been able to get a clear idea on exactly what you get with the Collector's Edition. I've heard that it may contain HL1 redone on source engine and TFC redone as well. But no confirmation on that. I certainly would love that if they were included though.
They knew the sticky legal situation that would occur if they developed this, so they just left that to someone else. Now they have what I would consider a "killer app" for satellite radio without legal reprecussions. I'm even considering getting a home xm unit because of this, I already have it in my car.
Looks like the engineers are big Boba Fett fans. Here and Here
Also the vision system looks really cool with some pics and a quote:
"Using a sophisticated measurement constraint system, which employs knowledge of human kinematics, the stereo vision system is now able to track the 3D location of a person's hands relative to their head location."
Everything that goes into space that interacts with humans needs to be tested for smells. Even things that seem perfectly fine to any normal person could be terrible in space due to temperatures and environment they're exposed to.
So I think a starting point me be with This guy. Here also. I don't know if they would release any info to you about what items you may find tolerable but it might be worth a shot.
One note about D&D Online is that it's being developed by Turbine, who created Asheron's Call 1&2. AC1 had a really fun PK system that could be described the same way, fast and almost twitch-based but really came down to your skill and knowledge of good tactics (not to mention having a really über character). Hopefully they don't screw up like they did with AC2. AC1 however is getting an expansion, but I haven't played for a couple years.
Ok I'm sure someone already posted this sentiment, but I'm compelled to post:P
First off I've beaten Doom3 with no mods or outside info of any sort, it was awsome. Now about the flashlight....
Needing a seperate flashlight ADDS a LOT to the feeling of vulnerability, that something could jump out and attack you when you are most vulnerable!
Lets put it this way, How do you feel when you have your gun out with light, versus having no light? You can't see well, you're not sure about your surroundings...something may be over there...but it still provides a sence of security.
Taking away the gun takes away that sence of security. You can see better, but now you're vulneable, you'd feel better if you had that gun out wouldn't you?
So basically I think it's great game design. It greatly enhances the feeling of insecurity and vulnerability. I think even having this mod is great proof that id made a design that makes some people feel a little too insecure:)
it seems that every time I attempt to install a program, I need to find five other programs and for each of those programs I need five libraries in a seemingly never-ending spiral of installations.
That is called dependency hell. Fortunately now we have great tools like apt-get, yum, portage, and others. So installing a package can be as easy as apt-get install package_name. I think the easiest way for you to try it is burn a knoppix 2.6 iso.
What amazes me is that publishers don't have more games available for purchase & download online. They could price it lower, and since they cut out the retail stores and package they'd make the same amount. They could even provide a connection faster than most P2P networks.
But the thing is, it shouldn't MATTER whose hard drives and models they use.
Ah but it certainly does. For example, I would not buy 20 workstations with Hard drives with an Ibm "deathstar" type of reputation, even if they would replace them in 2 days. 2 days lost can mean a lot of lost money, and headaches.
Last week I needed to buy a couple component video cables that were 10-12' in length. My choices were anywhere from $20-$70 for the same thing. Needless to say, I went for the $20 ones from a small but reputable online store. USB cables are worse, ranging from $2 - $20 for the same thing.
That makes me wonder, why do printers not come with cables even when they're so cheap? It's just a huge scam to get you to buy them for 10x what they should be.

heh but on a serious note, there's something over 120 million voters? With such a close election? Doubt it's a hostile attack.
Start a new Cowboyneal campaign of course!
That just means we're going to need several replays...er recounts to determine the winner.

Are they still doing buddy invites for the beta? If anyone has a spare... :)

But where the hell is pilot?!

This certainly could be used in conjunction with network play to be able to trash talk to anyone you're playing though :) "omg u hax tetris!"

Yes, overpriced usb cables. You even see some listed as "high speed" cables.
Ah but it certainly does. For example, I would not buy 20 workstations with Hard drives with an Ibm "deathstar" type of reputation, even if they would replace them in 2 days. 2 days lost can mean a lot of lost money, and headaches.

Don't even get me started on Monster Cable....
