Some of my friends and I make up the A/V crew at my school, and I came up with an ingenious solution yet to be implemented: a zipline. The A/V booth is about 20 feet higher than the stage and a good 75 feet away, and we decided that a zipline would be the best way to get down to the stage to tell somebody something important.
I guess if you need to tell somebody something who's level with you then you'd have to invest in some model rocket engines or something.
I'm sure there's some sort of hilarious parallel that can be drawn between this contest and the Terminator movies, but my brain's dead. Anybody want to take a stab at it?
Apparently the hardware decoders are not immediately able to play vorbis or anything other than MP3, and the processor is too slow to allow software conversion on-the-fly. That said, they're still working on a way to do it.
As cool as this sounds, you really can't appreciate what these guys have done until you see the video running. It's far more watchable than I thought at first.
Now to figure out how to convert video to.rfv for some late-night porn^H^H^H^HDivX viewing!
I wholeheartedly recommend the Archos Recorder 20. I've had mine for about 6 months now and have been nothing but pleased with it after replacing the default firmware with Rockbox. Plus, you can find it for as little as $170 with rebate occasionally.
A nuclear reactor made of a bed of uranium-enriched tennis ball-sized reactants? Somebody's been watching a bit too much Total Recall...Here's hoping they put this thing on Mars and never activate it.
This is cool and all, but it's going to be a pain in the butt for the average 1337 h4x0r to have to network the GameCube and invest in $70 worth of stuff to pirate some games. Granted, it is a step in the right direction.
For running bigger home-brewed stuff and emulators, not pirated GameCube games, I mean. Yeah. I'm definitely not talking about pirated games.
This is going to be a big hit among the older crowd. We bought my grandfather one of those voice-activated remotes for Christmas a year or two ago, and it took him about an hour to figure out that you didn't have to be polite. He kept saying "Louder, please", etc.
I like this idea, but until there's a reason (lawsuits or whatever) for people to be scared of illegally downloading ROMs, they're not going to want to pay for them. In the public's eyes there's nothing wrong with downloading a 15+ year old game because many of the companies are defunct now, and if they're not they probably won't care anyway.
...until the Martians bring out their peashooters.
Here is a torrent, if you need it.
The next band I form is going to be called Meridiani Planum and the Opportunities.

At least erase Jar Jar.
Didn't they already do this with The Phantom Edit?
I'd love to know how the first post for this story got modded "Redundant".

Try as I might, I couldn't find a picture of Al Gore anywhere on that page.
...Oh. Nevermind.

In other news, I rock at formatting things on Slashdot.
I wonder if we're going to see an influx of geeky DJ names with this thing. DJ 31337 DJ g33kX DJ h4x I call DJ Wallhack.
First violent behavior, and now this? When will the madness end?
You leave my small form factor out of this. I promise it's not *that* small.

Is that an exploding cell phone in your pants, or are you just happy to see me?

...Who things that "Proto Whuffie" would make a great party drug?
...Wouldn't that be akin to patenting looking through a window at something?
As long as I can stick a flashing antenna or two on it, I'm game.
Circuit City had an Archos Recorder 20 for $170 in their ad this Sunday. In case you're bad with math, that's $10 for 19.75 GB (approx.) more.
