Well, lets apply some logic. The press release announcing the ban discusses fines for retailers. It talks about no laws currently limiting retailers. It doesn't discuss anything about parents.
Right now, the legislation doesn't exist - it will be proposed by the tool governor of IL in the next legislative session. Your confusion stems from the sentence "to ban the distribution, sale, rental and availability of violent and sexually explicit video games." What I think was left out of the sentence that is the cause of your confusion is the statement 'by retailers.'
Because there is only discussion of targeting retailers, it makes sense that it only applies to retailers and not to parents.
Of course, what if a parent sells the game to his own child - sort of in exchange for credits earned by mowing the lawn? And what about violent board games like Chess, where Queens and knights are killed and Kings are forcibly restrained.
Yeah he did answer your question, but your IQ isn't smart enough to see it in his post. The law clearly is about making sure that you are the one making the decision for your minor dependant. That is exactly what the parent favors.
No, I don't hate anyone. And you didn't even read what I said - I just didn't care to hear disagreeable political positions in a GAMING MAGAZINE I read to get away form disagreeable political positions. Typical left wing nutcase - making up what you think my argument is and then disagreeing with that and ignoring the facts.
There is no need for special War Bonds because the relative cost of this conflict compared to WW2 is very small - besides, any gov't bond you buy is a partial war bond. Kind of ironic that as a nation, the second largest US gov't bond holder is France.
what's their tag line? Oh yeah, "TV for immature men."
That network is the only reason I've ever felt ashamed of having a penis. I can now empathize with the African American's feelings about Amos and Andy.
Facts are not of interest to you as you didn't read my letter.
Ziff Davis allowed her comments to be published. Ziff Davis publishes XBN. I canceled my XBN subscription and told them why. Due to flagging subscriptions, ZD canceled XBN. Case closed, score one for the people you hate.
After the election, the 1up newsletter that is affiliated with XBN sent out the following:
Thanks Ohio!

So I'm assuming that all of you who voted for George Bush will soon be lining up your sons, daughters, and cousins at the local armed services recruitment stations and signing them up for duty in Iraq, Afghanistan, and most likely Africa --because you voted for war.
To which I sent the following email to Ziff Davis's CFO, vp for comm, and the editor of the 1UP publication:
Hi,
Do you really think that anyone subscribes to your video game publications to hear your unoriginal, tired and ignorant commentary on a political matter?
I currently subscribe to four of your publications. Two of them are business-related (PC Magazine and eWeek). But two of them are for relaxation/amusement (XBN and EGM). I have enjoyed reading them because they are a brief refuge from the contentious world of partisan politics in which I live and work.
Unfortunately, your decision to breach that refuge with your stupid comment by Kristen Salvatore ("Hey, Thanks Ohio!") has led me to decide to cancel my subscriptions to all four. You guys want to get political and throw insults at me - fine, I simply won't subsidize you doing it anymore.
This is being sent to the 1UP editor, the director of communications for ZD, and the CFO of ZD since your decision is affecting the bottom line of the corporation.
Exxxceellleeennntt. Now watch this post get modded down to -5 a$$hole.
In Warzone 2100, as units gained experience they would fight better. You could set them to return for repairs when damaged. You could also recycle the intelligent veteran units into upgraded units.
Awesome game.
No matter how much better foreign students do than the natives, the best foreign students will still move here when they get their first change to pursue the limits of their ability.
It's possible that many of the world's problems are due to the most capable in any given society leaving for the US, making it even harder to improve the situation in their home country, making even more people who are capable want to flee - it's a vicious cycle. The only solution to this would be to export America (IE - Imperialism) but I doubt the population here has the stomach for that.
Plumbers may indeed be construction workers. Is he an on-site residential plumber, or a plumber on new constructions (laying pipe, etc) just like a bricklayer is also a construction worker.
Can you name some of the things that aren't there? I don't rember anything being overpromised except for maybe the release date being pushed back some.
There is not a CIA director with a bigger record of dismal failure by far. Everything from ignoring Al-Queda's attacks under Clinton (who appointed him) to claiming finding WMD in Iraq would be a 'slam dunk' indicates nothing he says should be taken seriously.
How many people do you know that actually use surround sound?....The ones you do know probably want the best quality sound they can get....not a loosy comp like mp3. Plus most consumers don't even know the difference between compressed and uncompressed. I don't see a consumer use for it.
As far as a professional use,....what professional uses compressed files.....other then possibly web transfering, but then in the end it is all uncompressed..for best quality.
The only way I can see this have a use is in web streamed surround mp3, but then again not many people have surround sound, and of the ones that do only 5% have it set up properly. (true fact)
With all of your hard work on this, I don't doubt that you could produce a high-dollar monthly newsletter.
Sort of like NDP does for games. They post up some general information on their site re: game sales, but give a more detailed report each month.
You could probably come up with a more detailed report you could sell for about $2500 per year - and maybe delay the release of the general information on your site so that the report subscribers get it a few weeks ahead of everyone else.
We can talk more about this if you want. mamapsttatbraynarddotcom - remove the backwards spam.
It's not surprising the launch is going so well. Blizzard is proving that developer reputation does matter. This is one of the few developers that I can count on getting my $$s worth with. For me it started with Warcraft 2 and then Starcraft which I played somewhat competitively. The only other PC devs I'd put on their level are MS Games, Id, and maybe Epic.
You are missing the point and I should clearify. First, OCR is unreliable. L-N is extremely reliable. Secondly, what makes L-N so valuable is that they have a huge archive of stuff going back many many years that there is no other practicle source at all. Maybe microfishe at some dusty rural library. The typist farms go back to before OCR existed in a reliable way (and I still doubt it is reliable). And OCR still requires people to flip pages over the scanner. L-N may be doing that now, but it's the archive that is so valuable.
Just pick your favorite MMORPG and BUY a maxed-out account that has been leveled up by some 14 year old who plays for 18 hours a day.

that's rich dude. That's good. +5 funny

er, never mind. And it's a pony, not a horse.

She is a writer for the mag and the online version/affiliate of the magazine. There is no XBN website - they put their stuff up on 1up.com.

And how do they detect the bots?
Has Blizzard taken a stand on these?

Actually, yes, that's what I mean. I suppose CoH had a near flawless launch but this sort of thing issomewhat expected.
