    The wooden acting, and terrible props didnt help either in the case of Enterprise.

    erm.. where do you get "production machine" from, the grandparent was talking about video capture, I find it hard to believe they can merrily continue where they left off as soon as the reboot is complete, this isn't a web server.

    Perhaps its a reference to the fact that windows *copies* your profile to each machine when you log in and so if users have hundreds of megs in their docs etc.. then the network quickly becomes busy.

    no - if you get a BSOD its because there is something wrong with the computer that needs fixing,
    only noobs have XP reboot on crashes.

    I would have thought that microsofts competitors would wait and see the specs of the xbox 360 and immediately announce better specs to try to put people off buying an expensive and possibly obsolete console.

    I agree :-)

    I do like azureus but java apps seem to have wierd problems I dont get with non java software.

    I agree, OO is quite good actually.

    I do however object to bad use of java, many java applications are a pain to install (so much for cross platform compatibility) and azureus has eaten up nearly a gigabyte on my linux box even though i never had a problem on windows.

    I've had to use java apps on low spec PCs too and boy do they struggle to run those bloated apps.

    I'd love to see, say, a two person mech that you could control (less like a MechWarrior Mech and more like a slightly advanced/modified current military one). Not something big and bulky and enormous like a damn transformer, but something that would let you carry a second person with you, move faster and jump higher.

    Those criteria are so open-ended that someone could easily be miss-diagnosed with it.

    This is how diagnosis takes place, its not like people have their problems written on their forehead.

    There was also a documentary showing how easy ID fraud is where they bought a passport and drivers license in David Blunketts name. (the cherry on the cake is Blunkett is blind and isn't even allowed to drive anyway)

    And still these right wing labour geniuses want an ID card.

    I don't know who to be more angry at - those people or the general public who are stupid enough to believe that:
    a) Al Qaeda actually exist and are poised to bomb us
    b)ID cards would stop them...

    Of course it does depend a lot on the circumstances of the war.


    The winning im talking about is defending our people and stopping their government from attacking other nations.

    Haven't seen much or any of that happening recently, in fact it is the US government that is regularly attacking other nations and their people.

    Well in war there is no real winner, no Pwning so to speak...

    Look at iraq, they had practically no military and were starved for 10 years and then bombed to crap and they are still resisting, US soldiers fear for their lives and the US admin is so scared they dont dare even announce when they are visiting hence the sudden unannounced visits.

    Look at afghanistan, the US basically has given up there and is actively paying off local warlords. A couple of days ago a woman was executed for adultery.

    And then there was vietnam..

    So.. what is this winning you speak of :-)

    Sheer number will affect the internet too, obviously language is a barrier but the number of chinese people we come into contact with on the internet must be rising at a similarly fast rate.

    NetBSD and yellow dog linux are well established. ubuntu is just another debian descendent that has only become popular recently, why should it be mentioned none of the other dozen have.

    (nothing against ubuntu I have it installed as well as debian, and windows)
