    I am still waiting for barlcaycard (a UK cc company) to refund a fraudulent charge for £500. I have been their customer for 15 years and do not fall behind on my payments and have never had fraud on my account, yet they still havent taken this off my account 3 months later - they are still "looking into it".

    The mailing lists are amusing. Eugenia also manages to cause problems by trying to get a gnome theme changed but gets the wrong person to change the wrong theme.

    She is the class of computer user who has just enough knowledge to be a pest but not enough to be useful.

    Maybe they did a statisical analysis and discovered that IDF members who liked D&D didnt kill enough children or even civilians in general.

    I see you are having fun trying new things currently.
    You could use opacity or moz-opacity css for your loading box, i thought it might give you a better look and more flexibility (you can use a pic if you want).

    It is POPULARITY thats graphed there - not usage, or demand.

    I would love to see an equivalent graph that does graph the demand for languages over the last few years as it really would help me plan my future, whereas peoples fads could be a more dangerous (though more fun) trend to follow.

    Tip:
    when you are critisizing some sites lack of HTML validator compliance first ensure your own piss poor (validation wise i mean) site is actually correct!

    And you pay tax on the money you earned that you used to buy the computer stuff :-)

    We are taxed to the hilt wherever possible, this isnt that unusual.

    and the billions they get from stamp duty, tax on petrol etc. etc. dont get you anything back in those areas either.

    If you bear in mind that you are supposed to pay tax on chip fat you have converted to diesel fuel then you will realise there is nothing unusually bizarre in taxing computers.

    The reason there are so many taxes is to hide the true amount we spend in taxes, if the common man realised how much they are really paying in taxes there would be an uprising.

    Still I suppose we have entire generations of benefit claimants to support who cant be arsed working and other small costs like billions spent to kill foreigners, the money has to come from somewhere.

    where do you get 8g from? I think that was the estimated amount of matter converted to energy.

    Oh and dirty bombs are just a scare tactic conjured up by our western governments, they probably wouldnt kill anyone.

    I use PHP across a whole bunch of websites, including version 5 - how is it anything like java? Maybe I'm missing the obvious, but all the 'old' scripts I have still work pretty good - without stopping any browser for 15 seconds (java) while it does its thing.


    Java is not only something that runs as an applet in your browser - its a programming language that can run server side too, ever heard of JSPs or tomcat?

    What about the millions that were killed in africa, not even a blip I assume since its not mentioned in the article.

    Its clear by their omissions of regular other atrocities and disasters that whats happened is that these people have connected coincidental random fluctuations to meaningful events in the same way as man has done since the dawn of time.

    I agree those are good solutions, the problem is that keys are issued by different people, the apartment I rent, my keys for where I work, my car keys are all the way they are because of the purchasing choices of the people involved and I end up carrying the ragtag bunch of different keys around with me all with different shapes etc.

    Your credit card idea has actually been invented I think, tbh though credit cards arent so much of a problem to me though - keys are my main bugbear as they poke me when I sit down and jangle when I walk.

    Thats a good question, it depends if you are trying to demonstrate some kind of algorithm, user interface etc.. what it is will affect the best way to do it.
    The poster doesnt say hes doing a comp sci course so the other thing I would say is spend some time learning software development principles such as proper design, commenting, documentation, versioning and such things. These things are helpful even when you are the only developer.

    You have to change your system settings to play a game then there is something wrong with the game.

    Doom was a clear case of them getting a hard on for a feature (in this case lighting) and ruining the game to ensure people get to see their lighting (or lack of it). Tomb raider did the same thing, in one game they had some kind of flares that lara could use, surprise surprise the same game had many annoying pitch dark rooms.

    theres the thing, £40 is CHEAP (ish!) here, just because it equates to a lot of dollars doesnt mean its expensive it just means that dollars are not worth very much.

    As another poster stated corps get all the advantages, they can do horrific things and carry on trading.
