well, I read a lot. I do mean a lot. I graduated w/a degree in History. You can learn a ton from reading books about History but books about Math are more difficult to learn from IMHO.
I never had difficulty learning the examples. I could do any problem pretty much that relied on the examples in the book. When I needed to apply something else that wasn't taught to the T in the book I had a bit of a hard time w/that.
Math for me is something that would have to be taught in a classroom not from a book.
for those of you interested in bands that promote the distribution of their live material try FurthurNet
It's very similar to Limewire in look/feel but only allows the trading of music by artists that allow the taping of their shows (and videotaping as well).
There is a Java client for those non-native OS's (Linux, etc).
I use it daily, it seems stable enough on my machine, try it out and see if you like it.
yup. I don't do anything but work from the time I get to work, till the time I leave (less two breaks and lunch).
It's tiresome. I don't get to go on the web and I certainly don't get to listen to music. Breakroom consists of TV's set to two stations. One is news, and the other I swear is to brainwash you.
I agree. I feel that all word apps on Linux suck, and suck bad. Everyone says that Abiword, or OO, etc work fine for importing from other WPs.
I use footnotes and use Chicago-Style notations. I have yet to find a single WP app (other than what they are natively written in, WP8) to handle them correctly. I don't not feel that putting the footnotes (which belong at the bottom of each page) at the end of the text as an acceptable translation.
As far as PS not working right, that's the only format that I am able to use to print on a Windows machine (away from my network). I have never had a problem w/formatting or losing characters. Obviously, YMMV.
unfortunatly for IBM, if your thought is correct, they have made a poor choice here.
Linux is best suited for several enviornments. I agree that laptop support may not have been the best idea, but to say that it is only worthwhile supporting on server level is ridiculous.
Although if I were to get a laptop, my next one would be my first Apple. That's just me though.
I don't shop at Walmart on a regular basis but I do shop there for items I cannot find elsewhere easily.
I am not what you would call the "upstanding white collar citizen" but I am not "Joe Sixpack".
They have excellent deals on DVDs (old school numbers than are less than $10) and have decent deals on a wide range of other items that Meijer and K-Mart just don't carry.
Cut out the "hick" shit about Walmart. They are an extremely sucessful company that is actually **TRYING** to do something positive for their customers (I don't agree w/their choice of distributions, but that is a previous post).
I am already frightened by Mandrake. I believe it is a poor choice for Linux users. Linux has not yet become "dummy" enough for the vast majority of users and Mandrake makes it too easy to use and create problems for people.
Invididuals that buy this package are going to be open to plenty of exploits, problems, etc. It is going to create a large headache for the rest of us.
I just hope that Mandrake realizes this and moves to at least limit the possiblity of widespread issues that MS has due to the same reasons.
People these days can't seem to function w/o them. I don't see the need to be in touch w/people 24/7. I like the fact that people can't reach me when I am not at home. In fact, even when I am at home they can't reach me. CallerID owns. I use it for my answering machine as well.
If your # comes up UNAVAILABLE you weren't worth talking to anyway.
obviously the fact that "Mandrake" does not sound like Windows.
Remember, this OS is targeted at people who are normally running Windows. They are not the most saavy bunch. Lindows sounds safer to them than Mandrake.
I disagree. In fact, I happen to like the musty smell of older books. I prefer to shop at this little hell hole in Bowling Green, OH called "Pauper's Books". The place is an absolute disaster. There are books stacked (or piled I guess would be the best description) all over the place, the shelves are filled w/random books that students have sold to them over the years and that they have collected.
I found 25 books for less than $7 and they were in good enough condition to read them.
There is no disrespect to the author's time/effort when you are buying a book that is old and tattered. In fact, I believe if the author cared that much about the condition of the book itself and not the contents of that book then he was writing for the COMPLETE wrong reason.
My favorite part of "Pauper's" is the fact that they have a Commodore64 (brown, non-C) in a box in the middle of the store stacked on top of a bunch of other shit.
Ahhh, musty smells, Commodores, and Piers Anthony, takes me back, way back.
Looks like I won't be buying Linux off the shelf.

Except they refer to the program as the "core values". The fucking president (who I refused to shake hands w/at graduation) believes that he must teach the student of a University how to be good, moral individuals.
Fuck that. This is college. This is not Kindergarten. I am not in college to learn about loving each other and being nice.
unfortunatly they can beat out Sony by giving it away for free :(

It's amazing how boring life is.
I found that computers made by Dell, HP, Compaq, etc are actually inexpensive compared to what you may get from a computer shop.
Unless you are getting a machine w/o monitor, memory, etc there is no reason I can think of not to get one from a vendor.
$799 for a decent machine w/a decent amount of ram and a nice monitor.
I saw $499 at the local shops for AMD, 128mb, and 40G (no monitor).

that's not exactly what I mean. I mean programs that are exploitable that will NEVER get updated b/c the users will not know any better.
I am sick of these comments, please stop.

I have that technology. It's called, "I don't own a cell phone".
:)
When I am away from home they can't reach me. It's an incredible invention, if only they had this 25 years ago. Oh wait.
obviously the fact that "Mandrake" does not sound like Windows.

everyone keeps saying that this is a REAL site for REAL journalism.
;-)
Since when did journalists know more about a topic than the majority of readers?
I don't have $40 to spend on a drive that I will use only for gaming. That's why I don't see the need to have one.
most people don't have "newer" computers w/DVD-ROM drives. In fact, I don't plan on having one anytime in the forseeable future.
:)
On top of that, I find that requiring a certain video card and requiring 64mb of video RAM sort of annoying.
I am glad that this particular game is PS2 compatible. They need to do this more often
uhh, Ms. Pacman, nuff said.
I doubt that. I use a 64mb card up in a few hours and I have filled half of my 1G microdrive in a day.
:)
Bad wording on the author/editors I hope

Too foggy, cannot see the light. Ahhhhhh.
you had a better article writeup. They decided to wait for the person that had the least about of useful info and the most shit.

now only if we could have smell-a-vision...
Burning and melting hardware and then the distinctive odor of shit in their pants.
;-)
No, when that movie was on TV I actually got up during the movie and watched the commercials.
Dude, he said there would be 6 months before the next security hole was patched!
