  1. True on Patriot Act Used to Enforce Copyright Law? · · Score: 1
If you think Kerry is just going to hand you everything you wanted on a silver platter because he's "not Bush", you're foolish and naive

True...but here's the problem. Politicians lie cheat and steal. You have to vote for the politicians that lie, cheat and steal for you.

now let's see you reinvent a better PC on top of that!

    You mean like...the macintosh? :-)

  4. Yay! on Seagate Ups Drive Warranties To 5 Years · · Score: 1
I just picked up 2 seagate drives a few days ago. For once, I get good news!

I had to replace 2 western digital drives that failed at the same time...so much for my mirrored RAID setup :-)

  5. DMCA dukeout on Real Networks Hacks iPod; .rm & Real Store for iPod · · Score: 1
But because Apple has not licensed its FairPlay copy-protection software to anyone, RealNetworks executives said its engineers had to re-create their own version in their labs in order to make the device play them back.

If that doesn't scream "circumvention of a copyright protection device" I don't know what does. Yay! Two big companies duking it out over the DMCA!

  6. But they have to eat! on Canadian Music Industry Drills Dentists · · Score: 1
Whenever I hear an artist complain that too many people are enjoying their work without paying, I smell a rat. If you are creating art to get rich, you're not really an artist,

Artists have to eat...off of gold plates, sitting in a mansion, drinking $3000 dollar a bottle wine.

  7. Re:How much would it cost? on Second Post-Apple Newton Life? · · Score: 3, Insightful
Porting newton to a modern processor, adding ram, adding modern IO (wifi/usb) and giving it some serious battery life

And if they didn't do that? If they just reintroduced it at it's original specs? Wouldn't the price be lower since the hardware is older and hopefully cheap by now?

  8. How much would it cost? on Second Post-Apple Newton Life? · · Score: 2
The Newton 2100 was an awesome device when it was introduced. It still blows every other PDA away. If a color screen and USB connection were to replace it's grayscale and serial port...how much would it cost?

I've been wondering that ever since I purchased my $300 palm Zire 71. The GUI is terrible compared to the Newton. I makes me sad.

So, just how much would it cost to build the old newton at todays prices for screens, batteries, the strongARM CPU, etc. Could it compete with the PalmOS and PocketPC's on price point?

  9. BlackListing? on RIAA Continues Distributing Dud CDs to Satisfy Settlement · · Score: 2, Interesting
Since the RIAA are pricks...could we blacklist their execs. I'm sure it's being too idealistic...but if we refused to do anything for them...then their lives wouldn't be so great.

Want to go to McDonalds and have a big mac? Sorry, we won't serve you because you're an asshole.

Do it to them everywhere everytime until the change their ways.

It's nice to dream once in awhile..

  10. How much money do you have? on Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith · · Score: 2, Insightful

  11. G4 sucks on History Of Doom Movie Debuts · · Score: 2, Insightful
I used to watch TechTV quite often...atleast it was one of the few channels that I did watch other than comedy centrral and the history channel. Now I don't watch it. Who the hell wants to watch someone else play games to B grade music and video that has as much production value as a middle school class project...

Why must they destroy everything likable in the world...

  12. Special Contacts that reshape eyes on Experiences with Laser Eye Surgery? · · Score: 2, Interesting
I'm not sure if it's still in the FDA approval stage, but talk to your optometrist about a contact lens that you only wear at night.

Basically the idea is that the contact reshapes your eye while you sleep. In the morning, you take the contacts out and have near perfect vision for close to 24 hours. That's not the beauty of them though. Apparently, if you use these contacts your eyesight does not worsen.

I wasn't able to afford them when my optometrist told me about them. They were around $700 a pair because they were new and specific to your eyes. I have no clue what they are called but it's worth looking into...no pun intended.

  16. Definately DV on Which Digital Video Camera for Amateur Video? · · Score: 2, Informative
All of my short movies have been shot with either an old Canon Ultura or the newer GL2 and XL1.

A 3CCD camera is a must just like the ability to manually focus.

Something that will help the look of your final product considerably is color correction. Apple's Final Cut Express has decent color correction capabilities and it won't set you back too much.

While a nice camera makes things look better, it's the content that keeps people watching. Think about what you are trying to convey and shoot accordingly. Spend time to plan your shots and get to know your camera before you start shooting your movie.

Check out my movies if you want to see what can be done for under $1000.

  17. They rip off Apple on I, Robot Hits the Theaters · · Score: 2, Funny

I know someone who spends atleast 3 hours a day reading and posting comments on LiveJournal. That's 20+ hours a week, or enough time for a part time job...

They've never met any of the people that they read about. Ironically, when I asked if they wanted to go to a party, they responded, "No, such and such is at a party right now. I want to read about it in their LJ as soon as they get home!"

The use of the weapon was the knockout blow that ended the first World War. There's know way of telling how many lives were saved as a result of the war ending then compared to going on for however longer it would have went without it.

I've heard Japan was going to surrender before we dropped the bomb, but we didn't know due to a translation error. They responded to us "We don't have a decision yet" in regards to the end of the war. Our interpreters translated it to, "We decide no."

  22. Don't pay for it, he doesn't care on Besieged Movie Industry Suffers Record Takings · · Score: 1
I wouldn't drop a dime to see Michael Moore propoganda

Michael Moore stated that he doesn't care if people download his movie from P2P networks. Maybe his distributors have something else to say about it, but he's okay with it.

You should see it. It's a good movie. Perhaps it's slanted, but it's hard to take any other stance on the issue. Besides, making Bush look like an idiot isn't that hard to do. Just sit around with a camera and wait till he opens his dumb mouth.

  23. Flamebait, but I'll respond anyway on Best Buy Says Customers Not Always Right · · Score: 1
And to be totally blunt, certain ethnic groups would be more of a problem than others

If you are implying that black people scam best buy more than whites, you're probably mistaken.

Things like rebate scams and false exchanges typically are perpetrated by younger middle class white adults. (17-30s) Smash and grab or simply run out of the store with something seems to be done by mainly black males between 15-30.

This is from my retail experience.
