MSFT dicontinued Windows Media for the Mac last year. Now in order to view WMV files one most manually download a third party codec. It does have an installation program but yea.
It also chokes on a large section of WM9 files. They do work on it, but it's hit or miss sometimes. and don't even think about DRM encrusted files.
Satellite locally is problematic with the constant overcast we get, and our long winters. reception quality is okay but not that good.
The only DSL in town is done by the local phone company, who is bundling with the satellite provider and requires a 2 year contract with a $500 get out of contract clause. Time warner has been using that little bit of information in it's advertising like mad.
Both companies want your complete package, internet, phone, and TV trying to get less than those three items they charge you more and hassle you to get the rest.
no he doesn't. In most of the areas serviced by comcast, and time warner they are the ONLY game in town. They are fighting like mad to keep it that way too, because if they have to compete on price they will lose, fast.
The Coffee table uses infra-red sensors. What happens you place a a cup of hot coffee on the coffee table? what happens when you spill some? Will the coffee flowing over the table set off a touch sensor?
This tech needs to be in a desk not a coffee table.

Another 700,000 are just sitting on the store shelves collecting dust. Actual sales to consumers - 50,000.
That's MSFT style accounting for you. 40 million Vista license sold, yet that included the two months before christmas when they started giving away vouchers.

1) unicode is better than having a hundred other encodes to debug 2)there's is nearly two billion chinese and Indians, who can't use your encoding. 3)I get just as much spam from US companies as I do foreign ones
I use mac's so it's Apple Mail, but thunderbird works just fine. Set your gmail account to leave messages on the server. when you connect with thunderbird you download all messages that you already haven't gotten.
you can archive stuff with gmail, and your local client will download those too.
It is a great saftey net because it is unlikely both will fail at the same time. Plus once it is on your machine you can back it up as you like.
Actually Vista will be mostly profit for MSFT by the end of year.
40 million units sold of primarily the only two good versions business and Ultimate. So 40 million times $200 a piece, is 800,000 million dollars. MSFT is nearly at 1/5 the 5 billion they spent on creating Vista.
Yet Dell sells 14.4 billion dollars worth of physical hardware and makes a profit of just under $700 million.
Vista Sales for MSFT in four months is worth more than all of Dell's sales for a year.
My boss still refers to AOL as "the Internet". I was finally able to force her to upgrade her windows 98 machine. as I setup XP and firefox I set firefox's icon to that of AOL's, set the Homepage to www.aol.com and changed the icon's name. I installed aim. She is annoyed that the "new" aol isn't quite the same as the old one but is dealing with it.
never underestimate a person's unwillingness to learn something new.
exactly. I can't stand watching flash based mini shows on my computer. I would rather download the content and watch it on my tv, than watch a tiny box on my computer screen.

No the 30 days they spend on mars they will have things to do.
The other 180 odd days they will be on autopilot stuck in a tin can with little physical and mental exercises.
What they should do is make them all programmers and tell them to rewrite Vista.
Hopefully plan9 will catch on by the year 2020. that will give us 18 years to phase out unix before Unix EOL's itself in the year 2038.

not to be mean but
It's a friggin BETA!!!!!
it's supposed to have bugs in it.
besides it's not like IE where the bugs are in the shipping version and part of it's core design.
not me. And if you look half the country both times said no to bush.
And MSFT is paying more money to LG for those devices.
it's the fine print of MSFT PR spin.
go read the deals themselves. Ignore the headlines and read the friggin deals.
Novel pays MSFT $100 odd million. MSFT pays novel $240 million.
Novell nets $140 million dollars, and MSFT literally spews FUD, when MSFT did the paying.
Xandros and LG are just cashing in on the deal. Not for Linux's sake but for free money from MSFT.
apparently you like everyone else isn't reading the deals properly.
When all is said and done MSFT is PAYING Novell 140 million dollars.
That's right people MSFT is paying protection money to Linux vendors, while telling the press the exact opposite.
read the facts for yourself. not MSFT PR spin only.
really? when was the last time you looked in a mirror you animal?
I guess i will go back to walking on my hands, and crawling on the ground.
have you run windows? Yep that's C with poorly utilised memory.
Good programmers can write good highly optimized and mostly bug free code.
unfortunately good programmers are like good Car Drivers. Everyone says they are good, but very few really are.
go back and re-read what you wrote.

Use OpenGL.
Um If you noticed I did say Store. the BSA goes after businesses.
Old Maffia --- You have a nice store, You need our protection because it would be a shame to see something bad happen to it.
BSA, RIAA, MPAA, --- You have a nice store, You need our protection, or you might get sued.
sound famaliar?
Sorry i don't buy into either. the law is still on my side.
